I did not take a whole lot out of last week, and I'm not taking a whole lot out of this week. However, I am happy with the team's improvement, with Daboll's attacking O, Gates running by defenders, Henne, Burnett, and Bush.

I have to check Carolina's injury report for broken ankles. Man, does Bush have some moves? :)

"Crazy Legs" Henne showed up Cam on the run, did not know he had it in him. :)

Agreed on Livas. I was more impressed with what he did not try to do than what he did.

I was also impressed with Mitchell. After next to no practice time, Marvin looks like he's starvin for some snaps.

Bush has missed most of his games due to problems with his left knee. (Torn meniscus, MCL, PCL) However, that knee seems to have held up fine since 2008. Although the Saints did rest him for 2 games in 2009 due to soreness in that knee. The broken leg last season was a fluke and not an "injury prone" type of injury.

I think his left knee was shredded and it's taken him a long time to get it back to 100% due to his running style. However, it does seem to be back to 100% and as such he should be able to hold up for an entire season. Saying that he'll miss 4 games this season based off of his past left knee problems is shortsighted. A lot of great, tough running backs have had a few seasons where they missed games due to knee problems and they were able to come back and play 16 game seasons.

Very true. However, Bush is about 15 pounds heavier than Chris Johnson, about the same weight as Ray Rice, LeSean McCoy, and Maurice Jones-Drew.

Henne still pats the ball too many times, that is a habit he needs to eliminate.

Did anyone notice the moves Bush put on in the game? Don't care if the D is "Doomsday," "Steel Curtain" or "Da Bears" IF healthy, he will make you miss.

It's so hard to get behind a RB who has been pretty much a bust in NO, and is always hurt. Maybe, just maybe, we get lucky on this signing. The "Football Gods" are overdue to give us a frackin break.

How many pats are allowed to be a successful NFL QB? I somehow missed that on QB analysis #101. :)

Good point. Some people here like to bash Bush by saying that he goes down with the first hit. However, how many players does he make miss before he gets that first hit?

I was actually more impressed with the toughness and sense of purpose Bush showed running inside. Even on the shorter stuff it looked as if Bush was gaining a few extra yards after contact.

Now whether he can sustain that over time is another matter. But it did look promising to me.

Henne looked much , much better than ok to me.

He was crisp , efficient , confident , athletic and decisive . The pacing of the offense and his play is major improvement .

Some people here like to bash everyone not named Shula or Marino, and given a bit of motivation would bash them as well. IMO, it is a pathetic way of posting but, who am I to judge?

the only problem i had in the game was the penalties and the missed deep balls, the rest was pretty ok for a 2nd preseason game

I had a slight problem with the 2 missed deep balls, and I thought Fasano was open on a post route in the red zone that Henne missed (when the threw like an 8 yd pass to Thomas that was almost picked).

Yeah, if we connected on those two bombs, we would have had like 400 yards in the first half. Consider that this may be coming. Hard to believe, and a scary thought.

I have been very negative when it comes to the coming season for the Dolphins. Last night they looked very impressive, but of course they were playing the Panthers and Carolina just might be the worst team in the NFL. They certainly were last season and nothing I saw last night makes me thing they have improved over last season. So while the Dolphins played much better in their second preseason game. They still have a long way to go before I change my view that they will be nothing but the same mediocre team they have been for the last decade.
I have never taken preseason games seriously anyway, so I will just wait and see how they play when the games really matter. Their first game is at home against the Patriots and last year the Patriots were the far superior team. If the Dolphins are really as good as some on here tend to think they are. The Dolphins should be able to beat the Patriots at home in the first game of the season. Until the Dolphins play their first REAL game, I would not get too excited about a preseason win over a terrible Carolina Panthers football team.

Glad I'm not the only one who noticed Fasano on that play. A) How the hell did Fasano get there/how was he that wide open? and B) How did Henne not see him?

Connecting on the deep ball has been Henne's problem since he came into the NFL. He constantly overthrows a wide open deep receiver. While he will hit on the deep pass about 10% of the time, it is the other 90% of the time which is the reason he will never be a quality QB in the NFL.

Yeah, Henne only hit on 25% of deep passes (over 20 yds), not very good but, much better than the 10% which you do not know. I mean he is no where even close to a HOF QB, like a Peyton, who completes 30% of his long passes.

JMO but, a little knowledge is a good thing before posting.

I think, as you said, what has held Bush back from being the star that he was thought to be coming out of USC has been injuries. He can still be the 'feature' back if he gets 40% of the runs coupled with the screens and dump off passes that he certainly excels at. In our offense, if RB stays healthy and gets 40% of the rushes, Thomas gets 40% and the rest are sprinkled in with sexy Lexy and either Grigsby or Sheets we'll be fine and he'll reach that star status...

So you can deny that he's a between the tackles guy, like RW was and be right. However, used in that capacity and staying injury free will change that perception, even if it's off base a bit...

I have no idea why anyone would consider a 20 yard pass, a deep pass. This is nothing but a medium range pass, as far as I am concerned. When I look at a deep route, it is a pass that is thrown at least 35 yards down field. If you think that Henne has completed more than 10% of the passes of this length, then you must be looking at a different Henne than I am. Also connecting on only 10 passes of twenty yards or longer last season, certainly shows that Henne is no threat to a defense when it comes to putting pressure on a defense. If you like Henne as the Dolphins QB. I certainly am not going to argue with you. I just happen to feel that he is not the long term answer at the QB position and I would not be the least bit surprised to see him on another team next season and the Dolphins use their first round pick in the 2012 draft to select their new QB of the future.

I would love nothing better than to see Henne have a great season this year and show me I am wrong in my assessment of him as an NFL QB.

Most people consider 20 yards the marker of a long pass. Last season only one other QB attempted less 20+ yard passes than Henne. Thus, Henne never got the opportunity or practice in a game to throw the deep ball. He will get better with more attempts.
