I really enjoyed the game, saw some things that reaffirmed some offseason study, and confirmed that my optimism was not manufactured, but justified at this point and time.

The game itself was meaningless, but I believe Henne had an inordinate amount of pressure on him, not only was he playing a game against the opponent, but against a majority of a fanbase that turned on him thru the offseason, also, the media, they have been swarming for 6 months, and were ready to pounce, to see him come out and look crisp, accurate, and exponentially more moblie and elusive that we have ever seen, was an impressive task in'itself, under such circumstances, regardless of the games meaningless outcome, the dude faced some serious demons, and preseason or not, demons are demons.

That's what I was most impressed with...

I think my favorite quote during the game thread was from well respected member Stitches...''He looks like a completely different QB out there''..I think Stitch had a bit of shock in his tone, which made me laugh, if you know Stitch..

3 words...Speed of Motion...combined with an awareness down the field is what was most impressive for me from a physical standpoint, 3 successive plays, the first down run that was called back, the scramble and throw to Fasano {eyes downfield}, and the take off for the goal where he outran the defense, turned the corner and went for it..His eyes were up and looking to MAKE PLAYS..

Some of us have talked about how the man needed to get in much better shape, mentally and physically, and I believe finally, he did so this offseason, he set the example on the practice field with his teammates, and off, But damn am I suprised how well he has dealt with these weaknesses, Lack of mobility and some intangibles were the 2 biggest imo..That game showed me tangible evidence that this QB has improved his game, Now we take that, and we improve the weaknesses that we identified this offseason, and we should be a better football team..So far, things have played out and fit like I thought they would with these variables and some additions by subtraction..

He is rushing his deep ball, not settling his feet, and like CK has mentioned not ''seeing it'', He has the time with this line, he needs to relax for a split second before release, target the player and not the spot..If you watch Tom brady, he actually goes completely flat footed for a split second in a moment of zen like calmness, then freakin launches it with great torque..Henne is thinking about trajectory at this point, I really don't think you can do that, and I don't think he has to, just relax, identify the runner, and fully release it..

So under some serious pressure at home, in his first game..He played his best game from a mechanics and fundamental standpoint, played with good quickness and awareness, threw the ball with good spin and accuracy, and added an element into his repertoire that none of us knew existed, I'll take that very much thank you.

''Chad Vick'' made me laugh..Lets hope he doesn't forget, and he continues thru the season staying lean and quick..He's gonna need it when the big lights get turned on.

I think the 4 runs at the goal line was a sequence of plays that most disagreed with, but not me, I think you challenge them during preseason, not bail, if they falter than they take the hit, if you bail and falter, you do more damage then just faltering, know what Iam sayin?

I agree with some of the analysis on Pouncey's physique..I was checking out his glutes and hammies very closely, He's a little light there..Not gonna be able to improve that much during the season, so lets hope he can play with the big boys..

Brian Daboll for Dan Henning...I like to call that ''addition by subtraction'', plus 1..I say plus 1 because this guy might be even better than I thought for our team and QB..Not gonna praise to much til after first quarter of the season, but signs are encouraging that the tape did not lie..

The footwork on Kevin Burnetts dropped interception was something Channing crowder could only dream of doing...Keep spoutin your mouth Crowder, maybe this team will be the ones to shut it up, for once..

Come on Philip Livas...damn it...don't let us down man, not now, not this year..

Let me tell you something, did you guys get a serial number on that freakin VD21 air missle that almost infected Cam newton, that mother grabber didn't know who, or wtf just hit'em...lol...that was a beautiful thing..and scary too..lol

Why is it that I'am not happy with Jimmy wilson being switched to corner..IDK, I don't have enough proof, but, I just see a safety skillset..

I don't like it that John Jerry is built like a pear, and was our third round pick..Projection of athletic ability and explosiveness, relative to physique, of course its not 100 percent accurate, but you would be suprised how accurate it can be...

Jimmy Claussen..boy had bust written all over him....3 years ago..He didn't dissapoint..

Reggie Bush..elite talent...meet Work ethic..YAY IRISH..You can't shoot the shi$ with crowder, but you just keep rolling you funky white boy..It was Bush or Bradshaw for me the whole time..nice GM'n man..

I've never been so excited for a late preseason trade or last roster cut type move, in a while...Y'all know I believe we have a better team on our hands than most people have been predicting..I think I might make a move if I was Irish for an athletic tight end..We got some room to do it, and I think it might jolt the franchise in a positive way..

You know what I like to hear??..check it..

"Last night I really watched the Dolphins pretty closely, with Chad Henne finally having Reggie Bush and Brandon Marshall together. That was really vital for me at this point. I heard that there's been a really good week of practice, because, you know, the first week against Atlanta, Marshall and Bush did not dress up and play. I thought Chad Henne looked like a different quarterback. And that's what can happen.

"And I think when you add a Reggie Bush, as the people who have played the Saints have told me, and a lot of people, over the years, when you played the Saints and Reggie Bush was in the lineup, it made the Saints a better team. You know, you still had to account for Reggie Bush, no matter what you think of him.

"And Brandon Marshall, although he wasn't perfect last night, I know that he and Henne are getting closer to being on the same page. So, Miami jumped out at me last night. I think that they are underrated and a team that may not be fun to play. A team that's been bashed probably more than, you know, they deserve."

    Mortenson on the quote...

Why I agree with you Mr. Mortenson, especially this part....'' I think that they are underrated and a team that may not be fun to play. A team that's been bashed probably more than, you know, they deserve."

    Hmmmm, haven't heard that before..

Great write up as always, Deej...... and I share your current sentiments about Wilson..... although I wouldn't object if he turned into a bad arse nickel corner.

IMO the most important aspect of this game was Henne showing command of the offense and earning his teammates' respect. No more Henning and no more Pennington looming over his shoulder have really seemed to do wonders for Chad. Coincidence? Maybe, but I doubt it.

It also now seems possible that it was perhaps Henning influencing Sparano and his fist pump for field goal mentality.

That'd be awesome DJ but he wants Deangelo Williams money from what I hear and if that's the case then IMO we should leave him alone.

    Great writeup BTW.

so you would stick with the Bush/Thomas combo and look at tight end before the season?, yeah probably, I think you have to committ to Reggie for what he's bringin to the table...I just feel we have a chance to make a move, I think we should spend some money on an upgrade somewhere, Lets see who gets cut last minute, might be something good there..

TE and RT are the spots i think we will look very closely at ... I don't think we are satisfied with either right now ...

we may even look at RB during cuts ...

I think the deep balls will come. Remember it's only 3 weeks into building a new offense. Timing will come.

No, he does not fit what we are going to do now Deej, we need smaller quicker Rb's, and as a value to the roster Gore just does not even replace Lexxy, he is a feature back and we no longer have one of those in Miami.

Love the write up, good to see you also noticed how light in the biscuits Pouncey is atm, hope he has hands like a heavy weight boxer.

Great post. And I don't know how anyone could have watched Henne play and not be impressed. I go by my eyes, not by a QB rating. Although not bad, his QB rating probably would have been much higher if he had a 1 yard QB sneak or threw a 1 yard flip to a RB or TE for a TD. I don't care. He led his team, he moved his team down the field, he showed leadership, he actually scrambled effectively and he make some damn good throws and no significant errors. He played good football- the least that he deserves is acknowledgement of that, not getting dumped on by a so called fan base. Dude played well.

I think it was said that nobody protects the QB more than we did last year with time to throw. Henne needs to get that timing down, and relax slightly. Take the hit if you have to that's what the good QBs do. One deep pass can often change the whole game.

A part of Henne's problem is Henning did not develop him, Henning tried to use just what he did well, and call plays from there.

In some ways, Henne is like a Rook again, he should be comfortable with game speed and those in game things that come with experience, some other things, like when to run for a first down and timing on deep passes, Henne is a work in progress.

Great write DJ! I couldn't agree more... Of course I've remained on the Henne bandwagon, but I think he is turning a corner. If he can finish out the preseason on a strong note, look out Patsies! Reggie looked like a Chris Johnson type of franchise back to me... Except bigger! Marshall's work looks to have payed off as well.
