"It's pretty close" when you are talking about Jake Long and Joe Thomas. While DBrick is good, and you can make a solid case for being Top 5, Jake Long and Joe Thomas are on a Level of their own.
I would put Joe Thomas on a level of his own. Jake Long does have some weaknesses. I think it's really close.
what?? are you serious....Long is THE BEST!! Ferguson is good but not on Big Jakes level. Thomas is about the only one who could be in the same discussion as Long
Imo D'Brick offers a good value for the Jets, but he isn't Big Jake, man played with one arm for 1/3rd of the season and a torn mcl and still was All Pro Quality at LT.
Long is the best LT in the game. Thomas IS close but I see him get beat at times since I live in a region that LOVES playing Browns games. Long is better, Thomas is close...Ferguson is above average but frankly were talking apples and oranges.
Ferguson's an outstanding tackle, but how long did it take him to emerge as such? 3 full seasons? Long has been one since the day he was drafted, and before his shoulder injury, he was absolutely engulfing defenders. He made Jared Allen look like a 2nd string rookie. It took Jake having a torn labrum for D'Brick to be mentioned in the same breath, yet Jake still made 1st team All Pro while D'Brick didn't make it at all. During the next 2 years, there shouldn't be any debate regarding the best LT in the game.
Do you ever stop trolling? When did trolling become allowed on this board? On topic, to feed the troll...Jake Long is the best left tackle in the sport. Joe Thomas is alone in second. Ferguson is in the bottom half of the 2nd tier.
I still remember the Vikings game when Allen tried to bull rush Jake, and he casually tossed him to the side like a child
Ferguson is a good LT but he's not really even in the conversation of the best in the game. The debate is between Long and Thomas, and last year, even with a bum knee and shoulder, the players ranked Long as the superior player.
What I want to know is what happened to ryan Clady in all this discussion. About 2 years ago I remember hearing some yo-yo's say he was better than Long, he has since fallen off the planet or something. If I was a team that needed a Left Tackle and I could get any one of either Long, Thomas or D'Brick I would have them ranked in that order on my wish list. The reality is I would be thrilled with any one of them.
In a poll of their peers, you know ppl who PLAY the game. Jake Long was voted the best OL in football...so im going to side with those guys.
Last year Jake Long with a knee and shoulder injury gave up less negative plays in pass protection than Joe Thomas did. Long didn't give up a single sack until his shoulder injury, in which he gave up 2 in the next two games. Thomas has been better than Long up to this year, but it was only close this year when Long played through a dislocated shoulder and a knee injury which had him missing time this offseason. It's Jake Long and Joe Thomas, then a couple of empty starts before guys like Ferguson, Gross, Clady start.
So you're saying the entire NFL are secretly Dolphin fans? What's their excuse for voting Long? LOL again at the Bills fan taking his frustrations out on a rival team on the up and up while he finishes 1 pick away from landing Luck.
So do they pick All Pro teams to help us in our "pretend World"? Pro Bowl votes were given because other fans and players felt bad? I personally don't feel bad about passing on Matt Ryan, I think he's overrated. He has as many post season wins as Chad Henne, NONE. Not of course comparing Ryan to Henne, Ryan is the superior player for now, just reminding folks about Matt Ryan's lack of post season success. I can't believe I just responded to your CLEARLY troll post. What I would not give to be a MOD so I could start swinging the ban hammer on trolls.
I pray for this to happen. Finishing 3-13 and JUST missing on a once every 20 years quarterback prospect would sting.
Why are you here? I have never understood why other team's fans come to other's forums just to troll. I know how bad Buff is, and will be for years, but misery does love company, and talking to Bills fans would seem the way to go. IF you are in fact a Buff fan.
LookEvery fan is going to have their own colored glasses, but if you guys think that Brick is better than Long you just aren't paying attention. Further there can be serious debate all day between Thomas and Long abouyt who is better and both sides can win arguments but those two are clearly the best out there.
Close? Hahahahahahahaha Jake Long playing with a bum shoulder is better than a healthy D'Bustashaw. Just leave it at that.
What's your basis for Thomas being better? How do you justify that considering Jake Long performed better in pass protection last year than Thomas did when Long had two serious injuries and Thomas was healthy?
This is hilarious. So passing Matt Ryan is not a mistake if Jake Long is the best tackle in football but it is a mistake if Jake is only the second best? This is a joke. The Matt Ryan thing is a comletely different debate. Whether Jake Long is number one or two in the league at his position has no bearing on that argument. None. And the idea that Ferguson is better is a joke too.
You know what...you have a very good point there A4E. Very good point indeed. Reckon I should be glad Big Jake has been voted out of the Survivor game? Hey, maybe I need to start voting for some one else?
NAh, the way I see it Henning and Sparano would have turned Matty ice into a game manager, while still getting killed with no competent left tackle. They focused on making this team tougher, and they did just that with Jake. Ultimately, they just don't have the QB development specialists they needed and Jake was the safest choice. Hell, Pennington was probably more instrumental in Henne's development than Henning or Sparano were. I'm with you though, I agree you should never pass up even a potential franchise QB if you don't already have one. Daboll has been a pleasant surprise this season. He may save Henne's and Sparano's career yet...
The responses have nothing to do with Ryan. Since Henne hasn't developed so far, there will be questions...however, how long would Ryan lasted with Carey as our left tackle? What you are missing here, is that whether we should have taken Ryan over Long isn't even on the minds of fans here. At this point that's water under the bridge, right, wrong, in different. To me, it's like picking out different colors of M&M's. Do you want to red one, green one, yellow one or blue one? There is probably four or five guys that I would take and be happy with any of those five. I do have to agree with most fans and most experts that Thomas and Long are the top of the heap. but I certainly would not want to make my living on the difference between Thomas, Long, Brick, Jordan and perhaps Matt Light prior to last year's injury. I very well could be missing one or two other guys. Clady is also rather underrated being on a less than stellar team. I think if Thomas or Long were on playoff team will not even be a question as to whether they are better than some of these other guys we were talking about.
Please go away and stop acting like a 3 year old, Buffalo fan passing judgement on other teams picks. Answer me this, who is your starting running back, I don't think he's your last years 1st round pick is it, and the Jets have a new LB, I think he's another barfalo first rounder that just got cut.
