Tonight the Dolphins have shown two of the same weaknesses they had last season. The first weakness is the inability of the first team defense to create turnovers. Once again they should have had two interceptions in the first half, yet Davis and Bell both dropped easy interceptions. They now have gone three games with the first team defense playing part of each game and they have no turnovers yet. While the play of the defense overall had been decent, the inability to create turnovers appears to be a continuing problem with this team.

The major problem I see with the team overall right now is the sad play of the offensive line when they play against a quality NFL defense. They were able to run against a terrible Panthers defense last week but they have shown no ability to run the ball against the better defenses of the Bucs and Falcons. Vernon Carey is no where near the player he was a few years ago. He was constantly being pushed into the backfield throughout the first half. Pouncey also is not able to create any running room with his blocking. I certainly don't see this offensive line being a strength of the Dolphins this coming season and in fact I think it will end up being the weakest unit on the entire team.

As someone who has been very hard in my assessment of Chad Henne. I will admit that his play in the first half tonight was exceptional. He threw the ball very well and giving him the ability to change plays at the line of scrimmage definitely has improved his overall play. I still have my concerns regarding how well he will play once the season starts, but so far he seems to be playing much better than he did the last few seasons.

 

This line...wow. A joke is what it is.

 

I hope Henne is done after this one. Bring in Moore and let the first team line continue to struggle through the night...

 

Get our 1st team offense out of here. We have more penalty yds this half than offensive yds.

 

Easy to see what Jake Long does for this line.

Even if Henne improves, we'd be lucky to win 7 games with the line out their tonight. I know Jake isn't out there, so that is the only thing giving me some hope.

 

Thankfully they called holding on the guy who raped Odrick.
