Gary Ferman reporting Miami hired a private investigator years ago to look into Ferman, and found nothing.

Sounds like Miami will probably rule the players ineligible, then petition the NCAA for reinstatement of the players. They will then be reinstated immediately with no penalty. Same thing that happened with Cam Newton.

As expected, Miami rules 8 players ineligible, and will file for reinstatement. Those 8 should be reinstated in time for the Maryland game. The other 4 players have been ruled eligible. Since the allegations against each of them totals less than $100, they can pay that back to charity. Haven't seen any names as of yet aside from Jacory Harris being among the 8.

Best player on our team. Hope the NCAA rules him eligible. We're going to need him.

Even if some of these guys get suspended, it shouldn't be for more than a couple of games.

    Back in Miami
Not that it's really important but I find it incredibly interesting that SI has rehashed it's "kill the Hurricanes Program" campaign yet again.

Many teams have had scandals since the first Hurricane NCAA violations including all USC's shennanigans and nothing from SI?
Yet Miami gets in trouble again and before it's all even investigated these guys launch into the whole "U of Miami should disband their program" talk?
To me the venom for Miami is obvious now.
    What gives there?
Who from Miami pissed in SI's Cheerio's?

If the players are cooperating. The NCAA has guidelines in place. Anything under $500, no suspension. $500-$1000, 10-20% of regular season games, anything over $1000, depends on the severity. If you lie to the NCAA, they will not follow those guidelines. That being said, Golden has done a terrific job telling getting these kids to be truthful, and I think they have.

It's the same guy from that 1995 article too. Alexander Wolff is a racist, plain and simple. Miami in the 80's completely **** on everything college football was supposed to be about. They beat the **** out of you, and they would let you know about it. They were hooligans on the field, and off it. The teams were comprised of inner city kids. For a traditionalist like Wolff, he couldn't stand it.

Did you see him write ND to cancel their football program when they had a booster dating a player and giving his teammates gifts? Nope. They're a "traditional" college football program. What about Ohio State? Nope. "Traditional" college football program. What about USC? Nope, "traditional" college football program. Auburn has been caught cheating time after time over the years. No letter from Wolff. What about Oklahoma? With all the rampant cheating that happened their during the Switzer era that included 2 seperate bowl bans and even a TV ban, surely Wolff would send their president a message. Nope, "traditional" college football program. Florida State? Nope. What about Florida and their 34 arrests since the Meyer era. Nope, no message. Matter of fact, why doesn't he write an article "Why ESPN should drop Lou Holtz." Afterall, he's the biggest scumbag cheater to coach college football.

    I am P.O.'d

The Dolphins are going to "celebrate" the Gators NC with Tim Tebow on Oct 23rd.

The Hurricanes use that stadium for their home games, and have won 5 (FIVE) NC's, and when have the Dolphins even acknowledged the Hurricanes existing, much less have a "celebration" on our home field. This franchise is a PR nightmare. That will cause half the stands to boo, lead to fights, and is just an insult to your tenant and stadium partner. Who the freak thought up this horrible & insulting idea ?

I agree that all that stuff is likely closer to fiction than fact. My point was, the public's perception of UM isn't good now, especially from those years. The Dolphins have no desire to bring upon themselves national contempt by glorifying a nationally disliked team right now.

    Not even close.

it is a Northeastern Bias. They do not like whenever a Miami Team does well, because it means that their teams in the northeast are being directly affected.

it is a regional thing as well, being that most national media are north easterners, and ESPN for that matter is basically a New York/Boston sports network.

Finally someone in the media actually looked into the facts:

    http://msn.foxsports.com/collegefoo...Nevin-Shapiro-Miami-Hurricanes-scandal-082811

Given Shapiro’s level of deceit, how can you trust the motives of anyone who talked in this story? Everyone has been bathed in Shapiro’s cesspool. We don’t remotely understand his true ties to anyone involved in this sordid story. Given his debt and penchant for gambling, I’m surprised there are no allegations or suspicion of point-shaving.

Transcripts of interviews with federal investigators do not legitimize Yahoo!’s story. And neither will the sure-to-come NCAA sanctions.

With its offer of limited immunity — “tell us what we want to hear or we’ll take your eligibility” — it’s not difficult for the NCAA to get scared players to take a “plea agreement.” Yahoo! has created a big enough media circus to provoke NCAA suits into handing Miami “devastating consequences.”

As far as we know from the Yahoo! story, the overwhelming majority of Miami players did little to nothing wrong. But they will suffer the “devastating consequences.” The adults, including the Yahoo! reporters and editors, will skate unscathed or financially benefit.

I'll take it. Figured most would get 10-20% of games suspended with a couple exceptions. Happy to see Spence, Forston, Benjamin, and Ojomo get only a game. Dye and AJ, who cares. Ray Ray for 4 games hurts. Vernon for 6 hurts but Chickillo will make us forget all about him, mark my words.

Speaking of Vernon, that's a bunch of bull****. Shapiro donates $1,000 to his high school on his dads wishes, behind his back, and he gets 6 games for it? Funny how this same exact ****ing thing is allowed in the SEC, only it's $200,000, not $1,000. Like I said, bull****.

Had some problems with the clearinghouse. Shame he decided to go to Marshall instead of the Juco route. He'll make a big impact over there on offense. Kid's electric with the ball in his hands.

On the contrary, DT Corey King did make it past the clearinghouse today and will be a part of the 2011 class, as well as OL Hunter Wells.
