Well according to Sparano they are sticking to this O-Line, he said he is comfortable with it. He gets very defensive about the O-Line. Looks like Gurode or O'Hara won't be coming here.

Really have little faith in this o-line.

if that's the case than he has confidence in his ability to fine tune the unit & turn them around. we'll know by game four.

It's amazing to me that Brian Waters hasn't found work yet. There has to be something there.

It's amazing how far Carey has fallen in such a short time. I still think he's the best option we have a RG, it's just going to be a work in progress (best on the roster as of now). Marc Colombo hasn't been great, but he hasn't been incredibly bad either. I think the fact Carey & Colombo are lined up next to each other makes it so glaring. I think if you had top notch/above average player filling in at either position with one or the other it wouldn't be nearly as bad. It's like Richie at LG. He's a mediocre LG, IMO, but lined up next to Jake and Pouncey, he isn't a guy we're talking about for an upgrade.

I think the RB situation isn't helping these guys either. We saw what Reggie Bush can do with a little daylight against the Panthers. However, we need a guy that can get up in there and make 3 yards out of only a little. Daniel Thomas has struggled there. I'm interested to see the workload Grand Mama gets on Thursday. If he can he just be a big back that can get positive yardage he could be a solid signing.

Even though they had done poorly with OL picks outside of Long I still wanted them to draft another lineman in round 3. There were just too many questions heading into this year to ignore. Its better to have too much talent than not enough. You can always survive with a couple of guys at RB, but a couple of guys on the line will not often work. I don't know what happened to Carey, I was hoping to see the gut gone this year, its very disappointing.

If its simply a matter of waiting until week 1 to sign one of these free agents, then as has been said elsewhere, they better go with their best pass blocking line for the Patriots and just go Air Coryell.

Well then if Tony believes this and either has told or convinced Ireland that the line is or will be better than mediocre , then he has staked his job on that happening imo.

If Ireland allows Sparano to influence his decision and this doesn't work , then he has exposed himself to the same firing line imo.

Not saying it is so , but a year ago , more or less , it wasn't a secret what ailed Miami , but no moves of significance were made until it was too late. As I have previously mentioned , Sparano either had an epiphany or was told he had , if he thinks that will work after another disapointing season where there were options unused , he should be happy as a college coach or a position coach in the NFL , and Ireland while currently having a more secure future is lessening that if he stays status quo and we look back and all wonder why nothing was done when there were realistic options.

However as MrC has astutely pointed out , this regime had the chance to work with John Jerry at the senior bowl , used a relatively high pick , 11th overall lineman drafted , and now is apparently a few days away from being cut outright , why would we think another 3rd round pick on a Olineman would work out better?

It may , but no real reason to believe it would , and we have that appalling track record of developing Olineman to smack us upside the head if we need any reminders.

I don't Dolphan22...that's the depressing part. But still I had OL 1A and WR speed as 1B going into the draft. Pouncey was okay, they should have double dipped imo even with their track record.

Why not Leonard Davis? He's a mammoth OG and has great power.

The fact is, the move of Carey in order to start Colombo was idiotic. The move was fine. The signing of Colombo was ridiculous. It only shows that Sparano is both a piss poor scout and/or arrogant about his own coaching ability.

They are well under the cap and yet did not go after either Tyson Clabo - who would have started at RT with Carey to RG; or a Harvey Dahl (RG). Even a Robert Gallery (G) or Olin Kreutz (who could have started at Center and allowed Pouncey to man the guard spot) would have been significantly better signings than Colombo.

Such an irony that if this line fails, Sparano's obituary next year will read: "As an offensive line coach, perhaps his greatest failure was his utter ineptitude to build a dominant offensive line."

I have zero tolerance and zero patience for these moves and such bad play at this point, four years into Sparano's reign as head coach.

I realize you don't consult with the media and fans to make changes. Or do what sounds good. But Tony has little to show for in his area of expertise, and some view his tinkering as detrimental. This may ultimately undo his time in South Florida.

Last year I thought we had a really solid group going in and they were ok. This year I have serious concerns about the right side. I am not worried about Pouncey starting at center, through him to the wolves, ultimately it'll be good for him. I say cut Carey and Columbo take their money and bring in either O'hara, Waters or Gurode to play RG and mentor Pouncey. Then you move Murtha to RT and it should be ok for the year. I can't see Columbo or Carey playing well. They were awful against Atlanta and Tampa.
