something is fundamentally wrong & needs to be addressed immediately.

I don't know who's out of position, who's washed up or who's still available, but Sparano should know & he better fix the offensive line fast. This is his job, his area of expertise & he is the Head Coach & decision maker. The buck stops with him. His credibility & our team are on the line, literally.

There are no more excuses & we are running out of time.

Sparano's job as well as the 2011 season rides on his ability to solve a problem of his own making. I'm through trying to second guess Tony Sparano. I'll reserve further opinion until after game four.
The playing-field is ultimately the only fair broker, Tony will rise or fall with the Miami Dolphins by his own hand. I find the entire situation disconcerting, confusing & unnecessary. This mess is of his making, he should have been on to it a long time ago.

This MerryGoRound does not bode well for Tony Sparano in year four of his command.

This was the one area I felt Sparano would have ironed out .It has to come together or Ross will fire him.(And this time he means it)

two weeks to crunch-time, the season is upon us.
lets hope Sparano has an Ace up his sleeve or has been playing sleeper with the NFL during preseason.
you never know until after the fact, all we can do is to wait & see.
my only demand is no more excuses, get it fixed & fix it now.
I don't care how he does it & am clueless as to how it will be done,
I only know it is doable & he has to get the fix in before game-one.

if he has the fix by game one, it will still take three or four games to establish the timing & coverage to gel the line

You know, you make a damn good point. What if he has been playing with the opposition? I mean, honestly, it's ballsy as hell, but I would not put it past him given how secretive in how this regime has been over his tenure. And it also gives Henne the opportunity to play fast, because, quite frankly, he will see some pressure during the season.

You might be onto something? Of course, we may just REALLY suck at this thing right now and Sparano (given what I have read on Omar's blog), might be shatting his crisp Tommy Bahama's.

Maybe there is a little curve thrown into it? Maybe he's telling the O-line to work at 75%? I could definitely see that happening.

One thing is for certain: WE SUCK IN THE TRENCHES! Where in the hell is that bad *** O-line from a couple of years ago where we put a hurtin' on opposing defensive lines???

I believe Sparano's doing the right thing by not mixing and matching this year. Said as much when he did his soul-searching in the off season re: offensive philosophy. He's picked his 5 guys and he will live/die by it. It may take 'til the bye week before they really start coming together IMO, with a rookie, a new guy, and a guy learning a new position. By then- I'm sure once the OL gets ironed out we'll find something else to complain about.

No way would I believe that. Telling players to back off to 75% effort going against guys giving 100% is a sure fire way to get people hurt. Surely you are not serious?

Just rewatched the game , and honesty no one on the line played well.

TB's Dline was quicker , stronger and fiercer than our Oline and it wasn't close imo. That Henne played as well as he did was more impressive the second time through. I understand Sparano not throwing the line under the bus , however what he said today and what the line did don't mesh at all. I didn't focus on each player each play but I did pause , rewind , replay most series and the Oline got their collective butts whipped big time.

you got lucky, its four weeks regular season

    about the offensive line:

The Offense Line requires more team-work & timing, blocking & coverage schemes then other units. They also have to respond collectively & in sinc, as well as individually, to every defensive front & nuance presented in a game.

Most people don't realize that the BigUglies are usually the more intelligent group on any given team. Much underrated & usually flying just under the radar, they are the initiators & base of the offense. If they dominate a defensive line & get the push off scrimmage, the run game is ignited. If the run game has to be defended, passing lanes open. If the offense stays on the field, time & opportunity to score for our team is maximized & is taken away from our adversary, allowing our defense to remain & own the second half. All these things start very quietly, almost unnoticed by most fans. However, the war of the trenches is primordial & directly or indirectly decides most games.

Is Tony capable of reconstructing an Orca-5 ?
Or was that essentially a Bill Parcell's phenomenon, not to be repeated without his guidance? We shall see...

I once knew an old man, he was an organ grinder & had a dancing monkey.
Neither one could read :crapstrom: & the monkey had the very nasty habit of occasionally throwing his excrement indiscriminately amongst the unsuspecting, gathering crowds watching the performance.

Some people may find this hilarious, others disgusting. it is what it is: things that monkeys do

    Dear Charlie Sheen:
You're the only one that qualifies as a monkey: illiterate, dancing & slinging excrement amongst unsuspecting crowds, but nice come-back. How about posting the thread before you get in over your head & things really turn ugly?

Charlie is a schizophrenic, drug addicted, pathetic creature, a confused & angry lost soul.
Literacy & comprehension can be problematic when you monkey around selecting phrases to take out of context,
it lends itself to confusion & misunderstandings. It is inappropriate.
I suggest: post the thread not the poster & keep the excrement to yourself.

I think the issues with the OL are being blown way out of proportion. There are few, if any, OLs in the league that consistently play well.

I feel Sparano is being really stubborn about it. No reason Nate Garner should not be tried at LG, likewise with Incognito being tried at RG. The only one you can justify not wanting to move around is Pouncey because of him being a rook. We shall see maybe he has some magical he will sprinkle on them that will bring the Jake Long out of em.

    Should end up being:
    LT-Long LG-Garner C-Pouncey RG-Incognito RT-Murtha

I think Tony has the available talent in the stable to fix the offensive line
& there are more possible veterans that could contribute in free agency
    however
I'm clueless as to how he will resolve this issue. I only know that he has to resolve it soon
time is a luxury that we can no longer afford. Sparano has to come up with a solution now

your line-up looks good to me, but I'm through second guessing Coach Sparano

only time can exonerate or convict him
    having said that
he is accountable for his decisions as head coach
& the offensive line is a problem of his making, only he can fix it

I patiently & impartially await game four of the regular season, by then a verdict will have been delivered.

Sparano appears to be confident he already has a handle on things
according to latest reports, the fix is already in for the offensive line
maybe all this concern is a much to do about nothing
I hope Tony is right & we can gear up the offense for the NE opener.

Well, regarding what Tony was saying about the OL, I have only one thing to say:

Tony, don't tell us the OL issues are fixable, show us they are. In 3 yrs you haven't been able to do that...Put your expertise where your mouth is...

Yeah, that's why I said it is ballsy if that were the case (which I know for certain, it is not).

I am honestly just trying to come up with a reason why this O-line is very sub-par other than "they just plain suck". I certainly considered that players would get hurt if that were the case, but I truly like Sparano to the point where I was probably wearing rose-colored glasses when I made that statement.

In other words, I am giving Sparano the benefit of the doubt. I do not think they are truly holding back. Maybe just (hopefully) holding back scheme.

Sorry, it was the homer in me.....

The only quality lineman is Long. The rest of this group are nothing but bad to mediocre at best. This unit will prove to be the weakest unit on the team and one of the least productive units in the NFL this season. It is going to be this offensive line which finally ends the tenure of both Ireland and Sparano in Miami.

Jeez Louise- 80% of the current OL we have now are 1st rounders. Outside of Pouncy there's a lot of experience there. Give it time. Last year everyone complained that the problem was that Tony kept tinkering. A bunch of OLs are struggling this preseason- most likely due to the lack of off-season camps.

I think Carey could be at fault due to his conditioning. It's possible he didn't get to workout his legs for a long time after that knee surgery. I would love to see how Berger could do if they gave him a shot at RG.

Incognito on one side with Berger on the other
might help with the calls a rookie center has to make
both have had stints/experience @ center in the NFL
I honestly think Vernon Carey has to be moved outside
    maybe: long-incognito-pouncey-berger-carey would work

Something along those lines might be okay, but it sure is amazing how quickly Carey has fallen off the charts. I mean he was, I guess what you would call adequate or slightly above that last year and this year he's overweight, out of shape and suddenly has aged at least five years over the off season. With the shape he is in and the way he is playing, I'm not so sure he could even man right tackle spot. Anyway you look at it, IMHO Colombo has to go.

    the PanCakeMonster (Mr. Vernon Carey)
is undoubtedly unhappy with being demoted to RG (playing out of positon) & is still not a 100% physically.
I think he's got another quality two or three seasons to play & am confident he'll dig down deep & come up with his winning game in 2011.
wouldn't be surprised to see us open the season: long-incognito-pouncey-berger-carey.

as a matter of fact, I predict it.

I wish Berger was made the RG today and Carey relegated to backup till he loses some fat and gains back some more strength or sent down the road.

I predict barring injuries to Colombo, Murtha and Garner, maybe even Willis, that Carey never again takes a snap at RT for the Dolphins.

may be wishful thinking, but I think I'm right, he'll make come-back @ left tackle

it'll be my go out on the limb prediction, my feel good attempt @ making a call for 2011
