''Marshall, whom the Dolphins traded two second-round picks for then signed to a five-year, $47.3 million deal in 2010, admits his body was never right following offseason hip surgery, which kept him from participating in the team's offseason program.

When watching film from last season Marshall noticed his explosion was missing. He needed it to return to remain special, so he called his old college trainer, Matt Gates, founder of Fit Speed Inc., to help him get it back.

Some had our suspicians why there was no explosiveness in his game { hip injury related}, why he was always running horizontally, and why we thought he just wasn't the guy we thought we were getting..I'am excited about how he took control of his craft and trained the body to perform at the highest level...I believe because of this type of dedication, we will see a much improved player over an already good one.

i also like the fact that sparano after TB challenged the play, acknowleged to the referee that there should be a unsportsman like conduct, i had no idea about that rule, good to know that sparano knows his stuff

He looked like a playerwho wanted to be on this team for the first time to me the last preseason game. It is also great what we are seeing between him and bush. It seems like they are pushing each other to better this team in anyway they can. I truly feel that is why we are seeing a more confident Henne.

Some players are just great at that stiff arm. RW could always do that well. His looked like a right cross. There's something just beastly about the players that do that well.

I agree about Marshall lack of explosion. I watched a highlight video from last year and there two or three TDs Marshall left on the field. IMO that coupled with Henne's poor deep passes (and few called passes) and the use of the WC in the redzone were the difference between Marshall's 3 TDs and the double digit he normally gets. He still had a good season, but it wasn't a great season. I'm betting that he'll respond with a very good year. He's one of the keys to my fantasy team.

Walter Payton came when he saw Marshall's stiff arm ... that's how good it was !

Best stiff arm to me was Csonka, though his was more along the lines of a forearm shiver. Pat Fischer is still having nightmares about it I'd bet.

I have a vague memory of Csonka getting an unneccessary roughness penalty for one of his stiff arms once. Although if it's the one I'm thinking of it looked more like an uppercut.

I think after that 3 td performance last year Marshall will be sniffing the endzone every time the ball is in his hands this year

It was a small white cornerback. I was thinking Fischer, but maybe Roger Wehrli, but Wehrli was pretty decent size. Who was another 70s era white corner who wasn't very big other than Fischer?
    edit:
Ok, he did knock Fischer into next week one time, but that did not draw a flag. The flag came for literally knocking out Bills Safety John Pitts.

If it would have been a Henne interception it would have been all his fault and a 30 page thread.
Since it is Marshall he gets a pass on the turnover because the defender made a nice play. So no one discusses it.
I love the double standard at this board.

There would only be a 30 page thread if there was debate. In the case of Marshalls fumble, I don't think anyone is debating it was his fault. I don't see any free pass.

No one said he gets a pass. We're just giving the defender credit for making a great play.

The difference between the two is Marshall is established while Henne is still trying to prove himself as a capable NFL starter.

really? He had an off year which was still one of the best years for a Dolphins wide receiver.

That play was beautiful. I had to rewind and watch it over and over again. The pass, Marshall going behind then accelerating pass the DB, catching it, shaking him, juking another then the coup de grace, stiff-arming a defender while using him to push off and spring forward towards the end zone.

That isn't saying much. he had an off year. Whenever your player has an offyear that isn't a good thing. Chris Chambers had a better year. Ted Ginn had more TDs in a year. Just saying.

    Below Ted Ginn

No. I said no one is giving him a free pass. Neither am I. If that was during the regular season, I would be furious. However, that was a great play by the defensive back.

That is all you got man...... You people give him a pass because you are all player fans.
How dare your favorite player make a mistake. It just couldn't be.
By the way Henne did his job on the play then Marshall choked the ball out. He has got to hang onto the ball there. Would have been a big play.
But no the DB made a great play.... LOL.

But he clearly did. How could you not see that? Marshall should have held a firmer grip on the ball and closer to his body, but the defensive back made a hell of a play. He didn't give up on the play after being beaten by Marshall, chased him down and stripped the ball cleanly.

That is all I need. Marshall had plenty of touchdowns with Orton as his QB in a horrible situation. I give him a pass because he is still a great player and will help the Dolphins. No player is perfect, even Tom Brady makes a falling down stupid throw that ends up in an interception that causes his team to lose the game.

Plus no one is defending Marshall on that play. He has to hang onto the ball there.

The reason there isn't a huge 30 page thread on it, is that there isn't a group of 4 or 5 posters that will create 1 billion ridiculous scenarios trying to excused all blame away from Marshall when he makes a mistake. If it was Henne who made that fumble, then it would have been Hennings fault for some reason.

I don't see what's wrong with player fans? Dan Marino is the reason why I started liking the Dolphins. After he retired, I continued to like the Dolphins because of Dan Marino.

If Brandon Marshall is bringing fans to the stadium or bringing more people to pay attention to Miami, than the businessmen of the Miami Dolphins have done their jobs.

You act like it's blasphemous to like the Miami Dolphins because someone is a fan of Jason Taylor. Hell, I'm sure we've got quite a few fans that like and root for Miami because of Chad Henne (Michigan fans). The same was said for a lot of my fellow Marshall fans when Chad Pennington was the QB of this team.
