Reminded me of Day at the races and Getta ya Tutsie Frutsi......... Your Welcome http://thefinsiders.com/video-posts/2011/coach-sparano-2011-kickoff-luncheon-speech
I don't know, I thought it was pretty sincere. Means nothing to wins and losses, but it got me pumped!
If it's all "blah, blah, blah" and "mumbo jumbo" and it means nothing to you, then why make a thread about it?
You guys are underestimating how much the team's togetherness can mean. Last year at the beginning of the season Miami was looking pretty strong thanks to the same thing. A win in that Jets game and things would have looked pretty different.
Obviously Marshall has never heard Pat Riley. I'm sure ton'y s a nice guy, but he certainly doesn't seem like the dynamic speaker type. I'll listen to the audio when I get a chance but I've never heard him say anything particularly inspiring before.
So what would you like the coach to speak about at a.....you know.....speaking engagement? Sent from my DROIDX using Tapatalk
Have you ever seen any of the locker room videos? I've been in front of him when he's made a couple of his passionate speeches. He can fire people up. Watch the video. It's not THE #1 best speech he's ever given. But he basically threw down the gauntlet.
I'll watch it. I've never heard him be particularly inspring but perhaps I haven't seen his nest stuff
I would have liked him saying how they took advantage of a great FA period and up graded the OL with at least one actual reliable starter and upgraded the TE position and how well Bradshaw is working out while Thomas is getting adjusted to the NFL. An that they felt they needed to actually upgrade these positions in order to give their QB more weapons for him to have a better shot at achieving more success............ I know I'm dreamin.......
Well he had too throw down the challenge because most people suspect its do or die, and many of the experts (including Florio today) are betting against Tony and the Dolphins.
Sounds like youre saying that Tony couldnt have said anything right, because the organization didnt do what you thought they should do in free agency. Why start the thread?
The video was pretty choppy... but the audio was fine. It was a really good speach IMO. I'm pretty fired up! lol
I don't get it...isn't this supposed to be fun? The start of another season? Time to get pumped up about Sunday afternoons and watching our Dolphins? Good or bad....don't you just love it? Sure I get frustrated...but I LOVE IT. Loved it for the past 38 years. If all you want to do is complain...why watch it? I just don't get it..lets enjoy the journey and the ups and downs. I have my sons next to me each and every week and its the best thing in the world. Part of my enjoyment every week...every year.
No, I'd there there's just a demographic who is pretty fed up after a 1-7 home stand who want results, not low brow speeches, [Coach Sparano]KAY?[/Coach Sparano] I'll be fired up when he wins games.
First off I started the thread because I thought it interesting and was wondering what others my think.... And to be honest I do think it would be hard for him to say something right because of the preseason miscues (IMO). But found it interesting his focusing on the fan base attitude as most important, and that they were going to win with little reasoning besides a good Defense (true) the team having a good attitude, being focused and wanting to continue the proud heritage of the Miami Dolphins, instead of being able to expound on concrete additions and upgrades that actually show improvement...Like Barnett for the defense. Hey if his speech tingled your toes thats great, just didn't do a thing for me and really thought it interesting kinda him wanting our input when most of the time you can't get jack out of any these guys when it comes to informing the fans ( and I don't mean for them to give out their secrets, although I doubt they really had any in the off season) ....... JMO
I just dont understand how two 7-9 seasons get that demographic so fed up. Just after only 2 mediocre seasons (while acquiring a lot of young talent)... they're through. Done. Over it. Dont even want to watch the team or go to the games... Just 2 seasons...
Everyone wants to hear the motivating & encouraging words spoken by Coach Sparano. God speed & may you walk the talk in 2011. take it to the green Tony, game time is upon us
so you didn' t like it, was there anything so far since training camp started that you actually thought was pretty good ?
Because we're fans, and we're invested, even when the team is run like some government black-bag agency?
So before they've even played a game of meaning this 'demographic" gains what from criticizing a speech? Its the instant information age thats caused things like this to become stories. If Sparano says nothing then what? Would the story be he has lost the team? I can't believe I'm going to write this but I want this team to win as much so they can say FU to all Dolphin fans who are wanna be coaches, wanna be GM's and think putting together a fantasy football team gives them some type of knowledge as I do for the FU to the rest of the league and "experts". And before anyone here chirps in that I'm excusing the mistakes that past & present ownerships & coaches have made you're wrong. Its a hard pill to swallow watching a great franchise run into the ground. The great Jimmy Johnson and the Stash apparent, the savior Nick Satan & the sideline buffon. 62-7 & 1-15 wasn't that long ago, this is what you have for the season (or part of it) and give it a ****ing rest until at least the 1st ****ing game. I'll bet a case of SOL that if the Phins open 2-0 and lose their 3rd the pitchforks & torches will be out calling for revolt. We all know 16-0 is an every year occurrence just ask the Patriots.
Actually he didn't have to say anything. He could have just been PC and said nothing like Bill Belichick. Instead, he basically said the team will win and be exciting. They 'will win the crowd'. I really don't care too much what the national media has to say, Florio included. I read him for news and insight, not analysis. Most of them still think the Jets are a million miles ahead of us and I just don't see it.
Sparano will be the first to tell you it's a "show me" sport. Didn't bother to listen to it. What!?! It's not like he's Bill Murray or anything...
unfair & unwarranted attack on a FellowPoster Abbi Normal. please post the thread, not the poster. be specific. what about the thread that he posted upset you? Did he post an opinion about the speech that you found to be disagreeable, misleading, untrue? Dispute it, that's why we have a forum. Personally I'm grateful for the heads-up thread & have enjoyed the comments about the speech it generated.
Did anyone else noticed that when he was thanking people for giving him an opportunity to be a part of the dolphins, he mentioned Wayne B and Ireland, but not Parcells?
I mean really, why shouldn't Tony be confident? Because the offensive line stinks right now? Ok, I'll give you that. But what if I told you they were about to acquire the best lineman in the league to play left tackle? And I have to believe that rookie center is going to continue improving as the season goes on. Beyond that, the head coach underwent a personality transformation and the offense got a blood transfusion. His archaic, low-IQ offense is now modernized, aggressive and the quarterback looks improved. The offensive backfield gained speed and versatility. His megastar wide receiver got his head on straight and looks returned to form. His other two solid receivers return and they added a bonafide burner to compliment them. And they all play together and believe in that quarterback. He returns an even stouter, deeper defense than the one that finished sixth overall last year. And his kick coverage units have been solid thus far. So yeah, I think Tony is rightfully confident in his team right now. It's only been a month, so he knows they can be even better than they've shown. Certainly better than the one that was good enough to take 3-of-4 close games from those untouchable Jets.
I liked it....that was about as much as youll ever hear Coach Sparano guarantee this team is gonna win. Say what you want.....talk about how they didnt draft the players you wanted...or went and got the Qb you were dreamin for. Respect Coach Sparano because one thing is clear. He may go down.....and I suspect he's not afraid of that..... He may go down....but he aint goin down without a fight.
I guess we all see what we want to see...and thats fine I didn't read into this as confidence born from a solid upgrade of weak areas going into the preseason. I saw it as a rah rah speech which is acceptable to those wanting to see positive and Fin boosters but 98% of the speech talked about was more wishing and abstract then reality. And truthfully everybody knows he's going to be overly positive I just found it interesting that so much was expressed on a hope of what should be rather than from actual acquisitions and individual performances. It's not happened in the last couple of years but it's going to this season, .........yawn, heard it before . Hey I hope he's right.............
