Haha. The Dolphins should seriously try that though.

Speaking of jerseys, anyone visit the dolphins online pro shop? They sell Replica Jerseys for $100 now!! they are nuts. Is that how much they cost in the team store? Modells and places sell those for like $75 or so I think. Hong Kong sells authentics for $30.

Bottem line is how much is it going to cost you. For me, it's not the issue of them dropping 100 bucks, but still, how much is it going to cost me. For me, if I lived in the Miami area, I still wouldn'd spend that much on tickets. I've turned down free tickets to the Broncos and Nuggets just because it I still didn't want to spend money on drinks and such. Not to mention traffic. Now with the Nuggets, I don't care for the NBA, so that's part of my choice on that.

A douchebag Jet fan comes here and posts a thread specifically to stir the pot and you guys actually sit here and discuss it.

Someone should just have told Revis to worry about his own team and get bent.
    End of thread.

    Just my take. :)

Some of us are just talking about how much it costs to attend a game.

Much smaller venue, doesn't seem that comparable. At most that's taking 18K people away from the Dolphins. And that's assuming none of them could afford to do both which I doubt is true. Not to mention much of the basketball season doesn't overlap with football. So the situation here is that if the Heat weren't around the Dolphins would be selling more tickets? People would just be sucking it up and going to the Fins games anyway? Despite the crappy performance and being treated badly? It seems like people would still stop going but you live there so I'll take your word for it.

Just imagine buying tickets in New York(or New Jersey wherever they play now),they can't be any cheaper for a decent seat and you have to be there.

    I understand that.

Just sayin though that the motivation of this thread was an attempt to insinuate were a bad fan base and to rub our nose in it by a Jet fan.
Personally when I'm attacked I don't want to discuss with the attacker logical reasons on why the issue is happening.
I'd rather tell the attacker to go F'off.

Bottem line, it costs to much to attend a NFL fake football game. I'm not going to spend hard earned money for a NFL game, let alone a Dolphins game. At one time, I would have, but not anymore. Good for those season ticket holders that gave up!
It's not a shot at the fans, but a shot at the owners, players and league.

Fortunately for me, the price of the tickets are irrelevant. As I stated earlier, I have purchased four season tickets for the last 30 years and I purchased two season tickets for the ten years before that. My wife and I have also traveled to close to 30 away games over the years. So spending money on Dolphin tickets or for travel to see the Dolphins play is not the issue for me at all.

I am retired and thankfully I am financially secure. So even if the Dolphins reduced ticket prices to $5.00 a ticket, I still would not go to the games this season. My problem is with the owner and his failure to show that he really wants to build a winning organization in Miami. I also am just sick and tired of the mediocre play of this team over the last decade.

While I will remain a fan of the players. I just refuse to spend anymore of my money on Dolphin tickets until Ross shows me that he is serious about bringing in the proper staff, in an effort to return the Dolphins to the type of team it was during the Robbie and Shula years. During those years, the Dolphins were certainly not considered an organization that made one misstep after another, like it is today.

You are correct. My choice not to renew my season tickets is totally because I have have lost faith in this organization. I hope the players prove me wrong and they make me want to go to the games once again. I also hope that Ireland and Sparano have done a better job then I think they have, in bringing in quality offensive players. I truly hope that this is the last time I will make the decision not to buy season tickets. It is now up the the Dolphin organization to convince me that I should want to come to the stadium and support them with my money.

Actually the Giants and Jets are not New York teams. Both the Giants and the Jets really are New Jersey teams. The only NFL football team that plays in New York are the Buffalo Bills. I have never understood how two teams who play in one state are allowed to be named after another state. Also the fans in New Jersey may in fact support their teams at the stadium better than we do. Of course they have to live in New Jersey and New York, while we get to live in South Florida. I'll take living in South Florida over living in New Jersey or New York, any day of the week.

I try to fly down to a game once every year or 2. If you don't support this team and spend your money to watch them or buy merchandise from them, then don't ***** when they move to LA

    Good for you!
I'll watch the games on tv. If me not spending 19 or whatever bucks on nachos causes them to move to LA, then Phuc them.
Again, this is not a shot at the fans, so don't take it that way. I'm not going out and get a part time job to support the NFL.

I was thinking about flying out to San Diego and catching the game out there but the more I think about it, NFL games kind of suck to go to. Other than the part where you can say you were there when something amazing happened (ie. Wildcat Game vs Pats) there isnt too much that is exciting IMHO.

The thing that bothers me the most is the media timeouts. I understand why they do it, and it is perfectly alright with me as long as I am at home. But to sit in the stands while the players mull about is just boring to me. Another huge reason I'd rather not go to a game is I can see so much better watching it on TV. Its nicer to know who is making the play rather than watching dots run around the field.

    JMHO of course.

EDIT: I think going to a bar down the street with a bunch of fans would be much more fun than going to the stadium to watch the game.

FA and serious $ (paid to players/coaches) has completely changed the dynamics of an organization from the top down, the two eras are almost incomparable in a sense. It is not an apples to apples comparison by any means.

That was the point I was trying to make to those who suggested that lowering the price would have a large effect on ticket sales. The Dolphins are already on the low side relative to most NFL teams. BTW I think you're wrong not to be excited about this season. I am looking forward to this season more than any since probably Saban's first year. I think they've made meaningful changes that will produce more tangible results than anything most of the fans were hoping for.

Well, put the blame on me for being a cheap fan. I've never been to football game beside going to 2 preseason games that I got free tickets for. Never bought a jersey nor an overpriced hat.

It doesn't bother me when Jets or Patriots fans try and hate on the Fins. The Dolphins have something they don't...the only perfect season in pro sports. The Jets may have lost in two straight AFC title games, and the Patriots may have 3 recent Super Bowl wins, but most sports teams have won championships and have their time in the spotlight. Only one has ever had a Perfect Season though, and it's pretty much the only unique record in sports. (That one really hurts the Pats...18-1)

I don't care if I wasn't alive for it and it was 39 years ago. It's still ****ing sweet since no other team has had the ability to accomplish it. Suck on that NFL and ESPN!

Only if Ross can attract a big name here. If he has to pay a preimium price, he may not think its worth it. Coaches salaries are not included in the salary cap, but they do affect a bottom line, and if it is going to cost you a fortune to get that coach he may not go that route. With sluggish ticket sales he may not have as much to work with to hire that coach. Make no bones about it, NFL owners are in this TO MAKE MONEY. And Ross has to make more than most of the other owners since he has invested a billion $ just a couple of years ago. He wants to make that back, and lower ticket sales, less concession sales, less parking fees, it really starts to add up. So I am not sure he got into owning the Dolphins to bleed money, so lets see what happens, but getting a "splashy" name may not be on his radar.

Because despite what some people on here believe, most fans are like me, THEY JUST DON'T BELIEVE THIS TEAM WILL WIN. Its a waste of money & effort for a team that isn't smart enough to put out better than a mediocre product on the field.

Another reason I think is economy, and many on this board, who don't live in So Fla just don't get that Miami despite its glitzy, glamorous image, has one of the poorer mass of populations in this country. The economy here suffers more in economic downturns more than most places because of the huge reliance on tourist dollars to make our economy flow. Our unemployment in Miami-Dade is hovering around 13% the last I heard ( http://www.mcclatchydc.com/2011/06/17/116034/unemployment-rises-to-new-record.html ) which is several points above the national average.

And even when employment is great the cost of living in So Fla is above the national average, couple that with less disposible income because of lower paying jobs here than the national avwerage, it makes So Fla a much tougher sell than in other places. The Dolphins have enjoyed acutally tremendous fan loyalty, despite what some here have said about the fans for the past 10 years, (no blackouts) and those fans have not been rewarded by the Dolphins (only one playoff appearance). I think all of this added up to this year fans staying home and telling the Dolphins, "SHOW ME" instead of buying tickets.

I have noticed that many of the loudest voices here that are angry with the fans are people that have never lived here, or ever had Dolphin season tickets (or season tickets to any other pro football team) yet feel justified in calling out Dolfans for being frustrated by the lack of their getting their money's worth. Remember those season ticket holders have had to sit through two 1-7 home records in just 4 years. Expecting people to continue to shell out big $ in a poor economy for that crap is being ridiculous.

Seems simple enough to me: tough economy, only 1 win at home last season, poor effort in FA, keeping the losing HC/GM, ticket prices that put the common fan out of reach to buy them. Every item listed must change except possibly the price if they fix all the others. I have very little enthusiasm about this season, it is very depressing.

But in NY area you have 1) 4 times the population (19 million vs 5 million) 2) Since NY is the financial capitol of the US, you have many 10's of thousands of higher paying jobs, hence thousands more people in which to attract. Comparing NY and Miami is like apples & oranges.

Yeah it's a completely different market. I hate it when fans from that area look down on other places for not getting the same attendance. It's easy when you're the most densely populated area in the country. I see people try to bash Braves attendance in Atlanta [which is actually pretty decent most of the time] in a similar fashion. It's an unreasonable expectation.

Actually its a bad reflection on NY/NJ that the Jets have some unsold season tickets, given their advantage in both population & higher wage jobs. Also throw in the fact they have been to the AFC Championship two years in a row, and that is rather amazing and sad.

There is a major different between the Browns who moved to Baltimore and the Dolphins. Art Modell moved the franchise to Baltimore because he could not get approval for a new tax payer built stadium. Ross on the other hand, not only owns the team but also owns the stadium. Unless he can figure out some way to move the team and the stadium, he won't be moving the Dolphins anywhere.

Of course one advantage to the team moving would be that all you would have to do to watch every game they play is to purchase the, NFL Sunday ticket on Direct TV. This is certainly much cheaper than paying for season tickets.

Correct. This is why being mediocre is far worse than losing a lot. And nothing makes you mediocre more surely than building a team without settling the QB position first and foremost with a franchise passer.

    True.

Ugh...I can't imagine committing to going to the same place 80 times a year, no matter how nice it is.

With baseball you don't have to commit to every home game. You can get season tickets for less games than that.
