He insinuated it, when he said "other fans make their way into our stadium". The way I and most others outside of the most ardent die-hards would interpret that is a shot at the fans for not filling the stadium, like its our fault. Well Tony what have you done to make them want to go ?

No he didn't..you just took it that way. Many teams just have fans that travel really well, and we just happen to play two of them in NYJ and NE. PITT fans also travel extremely well, as do Cowboys fans.

I think now people who don't like Sparano just look for any reason to bag on the guy. I hate the fact that we were 1-7 at home...drives me nuts...and yeah I wanted him gone too. But have you heard what he's said this offseason about his coaching style and how he recognized he has to change? Doing that type of self-evaluation at the NFL level isn't very common for coaches. Just let the season play out and we'll see what happens.

Even if we lose Monday night, which is a strong possibility given NE's talent and stability (even though I'm very optimistic/homer-like and really think we have a good chance to win) it won't be the end of the world. But people that hate Sparano will act like it is.

The numbers don't lie, and you did a little backtracking didn't you ? Oh you admit that a 68,000 capacity stadium still didn't get filled ? FACT, those numbers by the way, ARE FROM FORD FIELD. FACT, Lions fans didn't "pack" their own stadium, despite having a smaller stadium than the Dolphins, and a larger metro area population.

So according to you, I cannot pass judgement on Detroit, but you see fit to pass judgement of those of us who post on this board and ACTUALLY LIVE HERE, and know the mood of our fellow South Floridians, and how we just don't believe, and won't believe, UNTIL YOU WIN SOME DAMN HOME GAMES TONY !

Oh yes, because South Florida sports fans have proven time and again that they are one of the most rational fanbases.

Why are fans here worse than anywhere else ? C'mon give me the reasons, because if you go off on them, then you are attacking your fellow Dolphins fans. C'mon big boy bring it.

You and many other South Floridians are way too sensitive then. How do you guys make it through a day with out breaking down? He made a statement of fact, unless you disagree? Are there not NY and NE fans that make it to games at Sun Life? I'm not there live, but they make enough noise to be heard on the broadcasts.

Also, you just declared that you are not currently a fan... I'm just sayin...

Let's see, I lived in South Florida for several years and observed it firsthand. Plus you can look at this board as well. Or just read the comments section in any sun/herald/post articles. This fanbase is one of the most knee jerk ones ever.

Then why post here if I am not a fan ? I am not a fan of the current players on the team, because I don't feel they will win, and we need different players here. I also don't believe in this coach, so yes they need to win back my support and those of THOUSANDS of other South Floridians.......I'm just sayin.....

Knee jerk or passionate ? You know its better to be knee jerk, than what is starting to happen down here......they don't care, and that will happen if the Dolphins don't step it up soon.

Look no farther than the Florida Panthers for an example of that.

You know what the funniest thing is, when we blame players, people say "they are professionals and should have tougher skin, etc", but when the tables are turned and they blame the fans, the majority get their panties tied in a knot.

    C'mon people...man up.

Sound familiar? Can't take criticism, don't give it. I don't care who is making the six figures, it is the principle that matters.

I think it's smart for Tony to do this. His job is to prepare the players for any and all possibilities. Coming out of that tunnel at the start of the game only to see you are at a neutral field is quite shocking for the player, especially the ones who are new to the team. He's still beating that "us vs the world" drum. "Win the crowd and you will win your freedom"... freedom? :shifty:

Plenty of non-Dolphins fans post here. You’re the one who stated that your "fandom" needed to be earned again, which means that you’re not a currently a fan right? I point this out because I’m not sure if that is what you want to be saying.

I think I see what your issue really is. It’s him saying that he and his team do not need your support. That they are going to do it with or without you, and now he's putting that into practice. That is what I’m getting from you. Not this non-existent blame game stuff. There is butt hurt (for lack of a better term) that he doesn’t want you. Look, if you don’t like the product, then by all means stay away. Vote with your dollars. Don’t try to make up things though. Tony never blamed the fans for anything.

In the article they mentioned the "Gladiator" quote and I had this image of the Dolphins winning and Sparano standing at mid-field defiantly yelling, "are you not entertained?".

Sparano has done nothing but ask the fans for their support and that his team really needs it, the players have done the same thing, asking for their support, Reggie the other day talked about how the crowd is so important to a football player.. He got upset at the few who chanted for orton at the practice and I don't blame him..Your falling for the marketing Ven and painting a picture that is not true.

This is a team that last year won quite a bit on the road and was horrible at home. I don't see it as a terrible idea to act like every game is an away game. Many athletes manufacture motivation like, "us against the world" or "lack of respect". Maybe that's one of the triggers for this team? And frankly there are enough "fans" that see everything as half empty (I think of them as the "sand in the vagina crowd" as a few here have called them) that they probably don't have a great deal of "manufacturing" to do.

I'am on the record saying that our fans have done a good job of showing up at games the past 3 years during this rebuild, I'am on the record saying that the lack of energy is not because of the fans..

Finally, someone who gets it..You my mother grabber Pauly...I don't hate our fans, and I know subconsciously the stadium itself makes them passive on many levels, but we must reeducate on how to be in our seats when the game starts, we must understand how important things like that are to our players, and start to recognize that THAT might have something to do with flat performances at home, and 1 and 7 records..The game has a human element in it, there not robots, most players find their source of energy thru the fans and their energy, its quite elementary, if they come out of the tunnel and noone is in their seats making noise, what do you think goes thru their mind?....I know what does..and this is the dillemma of this franchise that no'one is quantifying correctly imo...

The reality that we have a large transplant/snowbird population from the Northeast is why we've persisted in the AFCE despite geographically belonging in the AFCS. It's also why our rivalries with the Patriots and Jets are so intense.

It is sad, though, that we can be dominated by other teams' fans in our own stadium.

If you put a good product on the field (AKA a winning team), you don't have to worry about the crowd, it will take care of itself.

You put a crappy product on the field (AKA what we were last year), you need to worry about the crowd.

Get a lead and keep and Monday, and we have no problems, get blown out and all we will hear is Pats fans.

Also, I don't know how anyone could be upset this game is Monday and not Sunday. I get the heat helps us, but this venue should help us. If we come out and **** the
Bed, we are still the same old Dolphins. But if we stomp the Pats on National TV suddenly the whole nation could be talking about us.

I would have preferred if few people saw the game. Then if we won, the same old rhetoric would be brought up. The conversation would be about how the Pats lost rather than how we won. People would bring up the Buffalo opening day win against the Pats a couple seasons back. And all the people who didn't see the game and/or can't analyze anything for themselves would just take the opinions of the "experts" who may or may not have seen the game themselves. I want the "us against the world" mentality to be fed and to continue.
