We're talking about the RB position not QB, but to answer your question, absolutely yes, a running game is important to Henne's success or failure, although not as much as in the past, based on what we've seen of Daboll's offense. How that plays out remains to be seen. The question in this game is whether or not the D can contain the pasties...if they do, we stand a good chance. If not, we can look forward to the Texans, I guess....

What this move shows about Ireland is that he does still feel that Bush can carry the load. Many of us, including me, have doubts about that...
I still believe that they were going to re-sign LJ after the Monday night game, but Thomas' injury issue made them change and sign him now. It would make sense to have a guy who, while he may not be the same guy as 3 yrs ago, is a guy that has been in an NFL game, knows the importance of pass protections and maybe...just maybe still has some gas left in the tank as RB.

As to the bolded statement above, the very same thing could have been said about RW if he were here now not that I would have endorsed that move at all. I'll take a guy with less miles the last few years over the broken down RB we saw in Williams uniform last year...

Seat? Mine has no seat, I just stand on the sides of the bowl and squat down, like a baseball catcher while he is giving signals. :D

I agree with the bases of your post. Glad they brought back LJ. My thoughts on the situation is more on the process that our FO has taken.
I believe that even with Dabolls offense, a solid running game brings not only more of a threat on the ground but also opens things up so that Dabolls offensive approach has even more opportunity for success.

My thoughts, were do to the fact that, we don't really know the NFL level of our rookie RB Thomas's no matter what insight we read from projections of posters on this forum , Hilliard as being a good backup at best (JMO) and like you and many others feel odds are against Bush carrying a heavy load and being that in between the tackles work horse and truthfully to risky and not wise to even attempt.
I felt, that with the unusual opportunity in this years FA we could have picked up one of the legitimate, in his prime in between the tackles RB that were available to not only give use some insurance if Thomas for whatever reason doesn't achieve our expectations but also help give Henne an added weapon to help take alot of pressure off of him.....I'm not a Henne enthusiast but do believe that giving him weapons could only help improve his capabilities.....IMO it would be huge help for him.....

Now FO lack of insight in seeing this basic need IMO, blows my mind. we waited to where we were down to a few bottom of the barrel RB's in which LJ at this point is a viable, but risky as far as whats still in the tank alternative......Just feel that a FO should be able to see and been aware of this and not allowed itself to be put in this situation to begin with......it's just too important and in my mind something of a basic football 101 which a man who is supposedly a professional getting paid the big bucks has to be aware of...

As to your last statement I have no problem with them letting Ronnie and Ricky go, never endorsed Ricky staying, but only with the understanding that they would bring in a RB of talent and in his prime (that were available).

And FYI Ricky probably has less wear than LJ being injury riddled last couple of years.......and this is not an endorsement for Ricky.. at this point LJ is about the best we could do......but never should have got to this point to begin with.....thats what I have a problem with.
