Does watching Brees go HAM on NFL defenses still sting?

    And your problem is.....

Pardon me. But the last time I looked, this was a relatively open board in a society that still seems to espouse the idea of freedom of speech. If you don't like it, just ignore it. It seems rather more of a negative reaction than is called for at this time.

    Geez o' Pete...

What is with some of you folks. We hear and read about people p***ing and moaning on this board all the time about how horrible Sporano is, or how inept Ireland is - not to mention some of thea ttacks on players of various and sundery sizes and ilks and skills... - and it does us good once in a while to remember that we really don't have that bad a team or staff SPECIALLY WHEN COMPARED WITH WHAT WE ENDURED BEFORE!!!!!!!!!

We have come a long way, people. We ain't THERE yet, but we are a lot closer than we were in the early double aughts!

What game were you watching? Brees did not outperform Rodgers.

Brees: 112.5 passer rating, 8.0 aYPA, 0 wins.
Rodgers: 132.0 passer rating, 8.0 aYPA, 1 win.

Rodgers struck quicker and faster. Brees was asked to do something very hard, carry a team. He almost pulled it off, but almost doesn't count. Rodgers outplayed him, though it's not as if Brees played badly by comparison.

Worth noting: yet again, the team with an absurd amount of pass attempts (the Saints called 52 passing plays) lost.

Why are you going after me man. Ive done nothing to you and I didnt say anything wrong. Plenty of people in this thread have said there is no point of looking back 5 years and still talking about brees and us not signing him. Like you said we live in a society where there is freedom of speech. I said what i thought, in no way was my reaction meant to be negative I was just stating a fact. I wasnt trying to be mean about it.

The real mistake was not taking Culpepper over Brees. That was a calculation made based on two injuries.

The real mistake was Wanny taking Jamar Fletcher when Brees was dropping like a rock and could have even been had in a tradedown.

    Both were mistakes.

Our medical staff has many several bonehead errors in the past (they destroyed OJ McDuffie's career)

The Culpepper move was just another example of Nick Saban being outwardly confident but a coward on the inside. Drew Brees recounting of their meeting in his book in telling. Brees wanted to play here, Saban wanted him and believed in him but was waffling because of the medical staff. Brees said something to the effect of "James Andrews has cleared me, I want to be here, you want me here, but you need to believe in me and explain that to ownership." Saban told him he couldn't do it and walked away. brees signed with NO the next day and the rest........

    Ronnie Brown.

Then again, a lot of teams, even the ones that needed a QB, passed on Rodgers.

Topic may be out of date and of the "sour grapes" variety, but I see no reason to bash the OP. If he`s still bitter about it it`s his prerogative - no harm,no foul. Every time I watch Brees play I think for a second "what if"....but I dont dwell on it. I`ve moved on from that debacle, for the most part.

Look guys, I apologize for bringing up ancient history but I just miss the days where you never had to wonder what you'd get from the QB position week-to-week. They had that for 16 years but since then it's been a trainwreck. It's just frustrating to see them pass up on great FA's and draft picks that could've changed the face of the franchise.
