I thought it would be fun to look at the opposite side of the other post here, who were the worst players ever to be in a Dolphins uniform? Give one or as many as you can think of. QB ray Lucas, AJ Feeley, Cade Mc Nown, Jim Druckenmiller RB Lawrence Phillips, John Avery, sammy Smtih FB Cecil Collens WR Derrius Thompson, Larry Shannon, Charlie Rogers WR Randal Hill, James McKnight TE Troy Drayton, Alonzo Mayes, Hunter Goodwin OT Spencer Folau, Billy Milner OG Wade Smith, Taylor Whitney C Seth McKenny OG Todd Perry, Grey Ruegamer OT LJ Shelton, James Brown DE Eric Kummerow NG Chuck Klingbeil(?), George Little, Randy Crowder DE OLB Morlon Greenwood, Derrick Rogers ILB John Bosa, Robert Jones MLB Jay Brophy OLB Eddie Moore, Rick Graf CB Reggie Howard, Jamar Fletcher CB JB Brown SS Gene Atkins FS Cameron Worrel K Bill Gramatica P Jim Arnold HC Saban OC Mularky DC Olivodotti (sp) ST Ok guys, help fill up the list.......
Yatil Green does not belong on that list. He could very well have been a star receiver, and it's hard to place him with the likes of Cecil Collins simply because Green got hurt. Two different degrees of awful there. Wasn't Bryan Cox a locker room cancer?
I put him on there because he was a bust (because of injury), but does not change he was a bust. Bryan Cox was a cancer, but he did produce. even though half his great plays ended in penilties....
"Draft bust" is not enough reason to put Yatil Green on the same list as Cecil Collins. Collins is in prison right now, for crying out loud! Daryl Gardner produced as well. He's on the list.
How about: Lawrence Phillips RB Derrius Thompson WR Reggie Howard CB Cameron Worrel S Ray Lucas QB Lamar Thomas WR Just off the top of my head...
I'm not intimately familiar enough with Dolphins history to name replacements, but I know Green shouldn't be on there. Ray Lucas or AJ Feeley at QB makes perfect sense, though.
I'm going to go out on a limb and pick someone that most folks would consider controversial. For me, the guy that needs to man the other CB spot is Terrell Buckley. Granted, he made a lot of huge plays, but it seemed like he always gave up the big one, at the most inopportune moments. He always went for the interception, instead of making the safe play. I'll take a vanilla CB that makes the smart play over a gambler like Buckley any day of the week.
Kinda unfair. The whole team was bad. Martin actually looked pretty solid at times (Cleveland game). He wasnt great mind you, but you might as well put our entire 07 offense minus Ronnie on the list if you put Martin.
Disagreed. Martin let us all down in 2007, but that doesn't mean he's the worst Dolphin ever at his position. I nominate Randy McMichael for that award.
Worst ever? Maybe off the field, but he was a monster who gave it all every time out. Hes just the most well-known recent guy. He had a case of the dops his last couple years, but in no way should be on the list. Not to mention he wasnt a high draft pick, the guy worked his *** off to become the starter...
Tony Martin was absolutely MONEY when he first arrived here from the Falcons, injuries effectively ended his career and he fizzled out.
QB AJ Feeley (tied with Ray Lucas) RB John "NOT anything like Barry Sanders" Avery FB Rob "we are going to get you into the gameplan this season I swear" Konrad WR Yatil (first round pick forces him on the list) WR Larry Shannon (better than Randy Moss per JJ forces him on the list.) TE Alonzo Mayes (Wannstedt just shed a tear) OT Spencer Folau OG Todd Perry (second tier player just as Wanny said.) C Seth "sweaty balls" Mckinney OG Grey "testicle biter" Ruegamer OT James "slower than Dan Marino" Brown DE Matt "second round??" Roth NG Chuck Klingbeil DE OLB Derrick Rogers ILB Robert Jones MLB Larry "special teams only for Chrissake" Izzo OLB Eddie "you got the **** knocked out" Moore CB Jamar "still dont know what Wanny was thinking" Fletcher CB I cant remember his name but he was #24 in 1999-2000. SS Cameron "only playing because of injuries" Worrell FS Jason "cant start anywhere for 2+ years" Allen K Bill Grammatica P Klaus "only player to wear #9 that was worse than Fiedler" Wilmsmeyer
I would take Reggie Howard over Terrell Buckley, if I had to make the choice. What about Derrick Rogers for one of the OLB positions? I always felt like he played under his potential here.
Actually the worst players are the ones we cant remember they were so bad and forgetable Here is one that I bet most have forgotten about.Cade Mc Nown a QB that Wanny traded for.
I have to stick up for Jason Allen. A) because hes my boy and B) because he's actually performed pretty well when given the chance to play. Granted hes not getting any honorary degrees from MIT anytime soon, but he could be a serviceable if not good player in this league.
First of all a major mistake with Bosa, he was a defensive lineman. Actually Bosa would not make the bottom two on my list. The DE's should be all-time draft bust Eric Kummerow, and all-time worst influence ever in Dolphin's history, the junkie/pusher Don Reese. Rick Graf shoud replace Morlon Greenwood at the OLB spot. At middle backer the major Cane flop Jay Brophy should fill that spot. Gene Atkins should be the SS. George Little could be a DT. (The draft picks of Brophy, Little, Graf, Bosa, and Kummerow in the top two rounds from 1984-1988 were a major cause of Dan Marino not being a Super Bowl champion). Channing's dad Randy Crowder could be the NT, since he followed Don Reese's lead and got caught pushing. As for an offensive, offensive line the group could be Wade Smith, Taylor Whitney, Seth McKinney, Todd Perry, and Billy Milner. At tight end, the dreadful Hunter Goodwin fits the ugly bill.
One other player that deserves consideration is James McKnight, WR. He was brought in to be our #1 receiver and did absolutely nothing for us. Complete waste of a FA pickup.
We also had a guy we brought in from St. Louis to be our KR/PR. The guy was supposed to be money but sucked, his name escapes me. LOL I remember him being a 99 in Madden at returning kicks... this was probably 02 or 03?
Naw. 2002 or 2003. He was strictly a returner...damn now its pissing me off. He was only here for a year or two. Jeff Ogden took over as returner after him EDIT: It was Charlie Rogers. He is def the worst returner we ever had. Brock Marion made him look like Devin Hester in the return game
