Would have been a lot better to fake the blitz there and have someone on the edge to force a deeper endzone pass. That was too easy
I think Benny Sapp was more at fault for Gronkowski's TD than Sean Smith. With that said, notice they've stayed completely away from Sean Smith. There was a lot of debate about Smith vs. Davis. It's only 2 1/2 quarters, but you can see from the gameplan that the Patriots believe it's Sean Smith as the better CB.
The defence giveth then they take awayeth. If we lose this game it is all in the hands of the front 7. They have generated zero pressure, we are resorting to safety blitzes now to try and get pressure. The Pats have 6 active OL including a rookie and an old guy that has been there about a week and they are owning the supposed strength of our team.
I'm not a huge fan of Sapp's by any means, but pairing him against Welker 1:1 with an all out blitz is like expecting a Volkswagen to outrun a Ferrari. You can't really blame the cat if it doesn't bark.
Our secondary is getting absolutely thrashed. Vontae was getting abused, Sapp was getting his *** kicked and Carrol got destroyed. Will Allen needs to be brought back....now.
Ireland better have already called him and he better have that contract already drawn up for him and the papers ready to cut Sapp IMO
