First I will say i think Henne took the first step tonight, he looked and acted like a QB in charge. I still need to see more, but still a good sign. And I liked the play calling on offense 10 fold over the past few years!

    Wants:

    1. A big back, (Maybe Thomas will be that), Bush is fine, but you need that big bruiser especially on the goal line (not sure why they didn't give L.J a shot at the goal)

    2. Another TE, Fasano was a stud tonight, but he takes a beating.

    3. Again special teams help

I'm not even going to get into the defense, Nolan Carroll I'm sure is afraid to look in his locker since a pink slip should be in it.

Nolan was outcoached big time and should be embarrassed.

Did we do conditioning at all during the strike and when we came back? Sure looked like NE was the warm weather team.

Maybe its just me, but we had a better pass rush with Taylor on the bench.

We better sure up the defense, because Houston can score also.

I think the defense will come out much better on Sunday. I think you're going to see teams go uptempo against us until we stop it though.

Henne was the best player on our team tonight. He took control of our offense. The rest of the team needed to step up tonight. I am not as upset as I normally would be with this lost, just because of how well Henne played.

Everything I want the Patriots have.

A goalie back: the Law Firm.
Two very solid guards: Logan Mankins & Brian Waters

And oh ya, Tom Brady. Although Chad looked like a poor man's Brady tonight.

The three-and-out after the first Pats TD was what really got us in trouble. Once you start losing control of the clock, they're going to go no huddle and just wear you down. I honestly don't have as much of a problem with the secondary as I do the front. CBs don't take plays off like WRs do. The offense had 1 first down in the first half after the opening drive and our defense took the field. You're asking the CBs to probably run more in that first half than they have at any point in their careers. I certainly put a lot more of the blame on the defensive front than I do the secondary. Thats supposed to be our biggest advantage over the Patriots, and their OL handled us.

I feel bad for Henne. Nobody is talking about his great performance, and it's all because of our defense having their worst performance in team history. Also, Marshall dropping a tough catch in the endzone. It was a tough one, but you have to catch that if you're elite. He doesn't.

Richie Incognito, Marc Colombo, Benny Sapp, and Nolan Carroll were all awful tonight. I'll start with those 4. Obviously there are issues with the defense, and I think several people on this board made strong mention of them this offseason (3rd pass-rusher, better coverage safeties), and those issues reared their ugly heads tonight.

Another thing that got me I pointed out in my Carolina Panthers review thread was that instead of practicing trying to get the ball to Marshall in the redzone, we ran 4 times with Daniel Thomas and Lex Hilliard. Those reps sure would've come in handy tonight to Marshall and Hartline; though Brian Hartline shouldn't have been the target on that play anyways.

In my honest opinion, this team's got a lot further to go than I originally thought, which was more to begin with than most people.

I don't think the ball would've ended up crossing the plane of the endzone anyway based on how he fell. Still would've liked to have seen the catch made. Those two goal to go situations netting us 3 points were the biggest difference despite the defense getting absolutely embarrased for the most part.

Henne was great and fun to watch. Sadly, the rest of the team was far from that.

Wasn't there a slight bobble on the snap that allowed the DB to get in better position?

Santonio Holmes had a very similar catch against the Ravens two years ago where the ball didn't cross but two feet in the endzone = TD.

While he was with the Steelers? If so, I think I remember that, and while I'm not sure, I think the Calvin Johnson rule, and/or other rules since, might've changed that ruling. IMO, if the ball doesn't cross, it shouldn't be a touchdown, but there's obviously the simplistic wrong in that he didn't hold onto the ball.

Again, our redzone passing is not very good, especially when inside the 10 and 5 yardlines.

Davone Bess still returning punts makes my head hurt.

Reshad Jones isn't ready to start in this league.

    Koa Misi was invisible.

We really miss having a short yardage back.

Tight Ends have and will always kill us.

    Chad Henne played great.

Excellent points. Did Solia, Langford, Odrick or McDaniel suit up tonight? I know Starks was there b/c he was offsides twice but other than that? Bueller???

Benny Sapp isnt the problem. Welker catches 100 balls every season for a reason. The problem was Reshad Jones being lost, our outside CBs being passive and our pass rush being non existent. NE got more pressure than we did, and they ran the ball more effectively. They're impossible to beat when that happens.

Can we just wear white jerseys on a Sunday and play at 1:00 with no media attention? That's what the team did in 2008 and they kicked ***.

Well, Henne and Bush played well, so did the Oline, the Defense was just garbage, ST were at least neutral.

The secondary, Carrol, Smith, Davis, Bell, Sapp, should not cash their game checks because they are stealing.

Big surprise for me was the defense stunk up the joint....truthfully have always worried about the amount of room our DB's play off WR's but the over all Defense was a shock

Defensive line gave Brady all day back there and that's the one thing you can't do or he will tear you apart, as witnessed...

Henne had a good game for Henne and showed solid improvement. Hopefully he can continue to progress. I wish the FO had given him more real weapons, specifically a decent between the tackles RB. OL continuation of a work in progress.....

I think until we get a FO with a better plan and greater insight and ability to atleast recognize problem areas and not be afraid to fill them with better than mediocre talent we are going to be just that mediocre.

I hate to say it because I like the guy but our team didn't look ready for this game and got pretty out matched in the coaching dept.
Think we will be better but see that same pattern of inconsistency raising it's ugly little head ........where next week the D could be dominate and the offense weak....
Hey but it is only the first game so to be fair got to play a few more gms to see if it's true.

I disagree with the oline, carey got beat, Long was getting beat (But I'm not worried about him), Incognito was awful. Columbo and Pouncey played well.

Henne put up 400 + yds and 2 Td's, he was sacked 4 times, but that is to be expected with this style of offense.

Richie started poorly but managed to tighten things up.
