The Lions 2008 0-16, They seem to be building the team properly and a bit faster. And Front office seems to get it. They could make playoffs before Miami. I know the Dolphins play in a tougher division, but i guess we shall see.
The Lions seem to be less inept (from a front office perspective) than they have been historically, and I believe we're seeing the effect of the draft position now. Lions have been 'missing big' during the regular season for a long time now, and (again, given a measure of sanity in the FO) are enjoying a higher paced recovery than teams that have been 'missing small' and are historically middle of the pack. I think that their build up will slow down as soon as they have another five seasons picking 13th-20th (and I don't think they have a major run during that time either).
Well they won't beat us to the playoffs since we went the year after going 1-15. But inaccurate statements aside, the Lions are putting together a decent squad. Best and Stafford are walking injuries though.
Why does it matter? We are basing our ****ing moves on what the lions are doing now!? Jesus christ. This entire thread is based solely on opinion, so how's it truth?! We went to the playoffs the year after we went 1-15 (thansk sam) the lions havent been to the playoffs since Matt Stafford was 7 years old.
The present regime has been there 2 years and they are building a solid team, that will compete for years.
They've got a franchise QB and a dominant defensive line that can seriously get to the passer. More specifically, they have a franchise QB and a motivated version of Albert Haynesworth. How did they get them? Basically the new regime had the #1 and #2 pick in consecutive years, and then won the lottery when Jerry Jones came calling with a king's ransom for a terrible WR. It's a team that picked inside the Top 10 eight times in the last 10 years, and finally began getting it right. They have several other nice pieces (Megatron, love what they've done at TE, etc.). But that's the root of it.
They've been there 3 years. And they did inherit some really nice pieces from the previous regime. They're doing a good job though, no question.
A little sensitive Chris after last night's debacle ? It matters because the Miami fan base is tired, really ****ing tired of half-assed regimes coming in here and promising big and then delivering very little. Ireland & Sparano just don't have the goods, you know it and I know it Chris. Its hard to admit, but in your heart you know I am right. It took me until the end of last year to understand, but I have a calmness about it because I know its only a matter of a few weeks until I believe one will be gone, and then at the end of the year the other one will be gone.
This regime has delivered a lot more than the Detroit Lions regime has, after inheriting much less to boot.
Theres nothing to be fooled about. This is fact. The Lions haven't won anything since Schwartz took over.
The point of this thread is that Jpep13, is pointing out that the Lions are building a better team than the Dolphins . Not what the record of the Lions was last year. Besides if you are comparing the Lions and the Dolphins from 2010. While the Dolphins may have won one more game last year. The fact is that the Lions came down to Miami late last season and beat the Dolphins. As far as the statement from Jpep13 that the Lions are doing a better job than the Dolphins when it comes to rebuilding their franchise. I agree 100%. I would trade the players on the Dolphins for the players on the Lions right now and not even think twice about it.
Yes, I understand his point. I'm just curious as to what evidence there is to support this point. And to be fair, we went into GB and beat the Packers last year, that doesn't make us better than them.
That is what is called "progression". They are showing the natural way you build up to being a good team. This regime started at 11-6 and has been 7-9 and 7-9. Where is their ascension factor ?
It shows improvement, where is the improvement on the Dolphins ? Its hilarious the defense of this regime.
No, but at least they have shown improvement, and much more promise than this regime. Go ahead and protect this regime, but what happens when they get canned ? Do you come out and say it was wrong to can them ? If so you then, technically will be "disloyal" to the Dolphins by criticizing them. The same as others accuse me of being disloyal now. Its going to be fun to watch people squirm out of that.
People wouldn't criticize you so much if you didn't rant and rave and talk down to people. When exactly do you stop trying to be the victim and take some responsibility for the heat you take? And if people are squirming it means your team is losing. Maybe you should go post on an ego board rather then a dolphins board. Just a thought.
Was I defending them? I think they've had several misses... However Detroit have 7 years worth of top 8 picks certainly helps their cause. I do think they're cookin' something good up there, but that doesn't mean things won't work out here. It's just one game.
