Actually when we played them they were relatively healthy considering what their roster looked like in the superbowl.
So, we went 1-15...then had a crazy easy schedule, and went 11-5. Then when we get a crazy hard schedule, we fall back to 7-9. How does that compare to the Lions consistently having a losing record, and having a better losing record, while playing a ****ty schedule? If the Lions go 11-5 this season, you can bet that they would "regress" next year with the harder schedule that they would face.
Actually I don't see much disparity between the two ball clubs. I'd give the edge to Miami because we won the Division out of the gates. What do they have that we don't already have? They have a young QB in his 3rd year trying to prove that he's the long-term guy you'd thought he'd be. Sound familiar? Except our guy isn't a walking injury. People are quick to use the injury as the only excuse for Stafford, but he's inconsistent too. They have a RB that is a better pass catcher than every down RB. Hmmm, sounds awfully familiar. They drafted a RB to be a bigger down back, but he's out with injury. Hey, we've got one too! But, again our rookie RB looks to be coming back sooner. They have an offensive line that really is offensive. They struggle running the football and protecting the QB. Last night we struggled to protect the QB, but I don't see that being an issue too much longer. We've got the best LT & a nice promising youngster at C. Other than that, we're in shambles a little bit too. Both Teams have #1 Elite WR's. Debate who you believe is better, it doesn't really matter. Both teams have better than average slot WR's in Burleson & Bess. The rest of the WR corps is serviceable, although it's my opinion that ours is more talented. The strength of the defenses are their defensive lines. The weaknesses are the secondary. I mean it's not much difference really. Both teams are young. So, if you're happy and think the Lions are in a much better position, you might find we aren't as bad as you think.
I rant and rave so that a lonely voice of reason can be heard so it isn't drowned out in a chorus of barking Sparano & Ireland lap dogs.
You sound like anyone who is saying something that is not popular. I know a guy on another forum who argues incessantly that Brady and Welker suck...and he says many things almost exactly like your quote. I think all this yapping after one game this year is silly. I think Nolan deserves more blame forth defense last night than Sparano does...
Yeah really..by the time they got to the superbowl Sam Shields and James Starks were full time starters due to injuries..and they lost Charles Woodson during the bowl..
Maybe we should move the dolphins to Detroit and move the lions down to Miami so Jake will be happy.....its the first game into the season guys no one hands out the superbowl trophy after the first game. No one is kicked out of the playoffs in the first game either.
If he says Brady & Welker suck, then he needs to have his head examined. But yes I sometimes feel like Galileo who was persecuted by the Roman Catholic Church and tried by the Inquisition for saying that the Earth revolves around the Sun, and not the other way around. Or by the few brave people in Cuba that talk out against the regime, and are persecuted for not conforming to Communism.
You rant and rave because you're emotional. You aren't doing this for the good of anyone but yourself.
No I am a Dolphins fan, I want NO PART of another team. I want the Dolphins to be winners. What is so hard to understand about that ?
Nope..didn't miss that at all... But I digress....it's very difficult having conversations with some on this board..so I'll guess I'll just stop doing so.
You are taking years and years of frustration and applying it to a regime that hasn't been responsible for the most of it. Seriously, who here is calling our regime the best ever? No one. But you are calling them the worst ever, when we've actually had worse here. It's irrational. If you don't think Tony is a good coach, fine. But you rant like he's the worst ever when he isn't, not even close....same goes for Ireland. [mod]Be civil.[/mod]
No we will move the players from the Dolphins to the Lions and the players from the Lions to the Dolphins. So then the Dolphins will be winners and you will be happy and you can stop ranting, then we will all be happy. Im just kdding.
True, it probably is a lot of years of anger. I used to defend the Dolphins to the end, but yes, my emotions get the best of me now. At least it does show my passion for the Dolphins. I have fallibilites, and one of them is my love / hate for the Dolphins right now. I would think some here would understand that.
and how many top 3 picks compared to us did they have ? guys like suh, calvin johnson, matthew stafford.....which are their best 3 players
You mean "how about the Dolphins start losing like crazy, so that they'll end up with 3 #1 or #2 overall picks in 4 years and be able to draft rare elite talent"? Something tells me you wouldn't be pleased in that scenario ...
I think if you're being reasonable you would say 1) yes it appears the current staff has plateaued. 7-9 in two years means a plateau. 2) Yes they have not fixed all the holes. It appears to me we now might have holes repeating from our first 7-9 year. I will say our d did start to do better as the game wore on, but once again, slow starts seem to be a problem with this regime. 3) The run game has been a problem since last year. Of course we haven't seen thomas yet, don't think he'll be the solution but can improve it. The main thing that worries me is the o line problems, but again the past few years they have been slow starters.
The only gloating I may be accused of, is the vidication I feel today because of the unfair criticism and rather mean spirited name calling that was thrown my way. I said this team was not going to be that good. I am NOT happy about that, in fact I was like most Dolfans last night, rather distraught & disheartened. But I have the guts to get on here and what I, IN MY HEART, really feel what is wrong here, and I get nothing but **** on about it. I've been bullied most of my life, for being who I am, so being bullied on here is not something I can't take. I come back because I LOVE my Dolphins.
Perhaps the fact that the Lions have won the last five regular season games they have played, while the Dolphins can't even win one at home, is the reason it appears the Lions have done a better job of rebuilding then the Dolphins have.
If you really analyse this, the worst thing that could have happened for this franchise was probably winning in 2008. We loved it, but it did all the wrong things for this regime. a) it set the bar too high - only winning a playoff game is higher on the fans goal list b) by not losing enough games that 1st year, they never were able to draft a couple of years at the top of the draft and stockpile really elite players. c) they also had a huge arrogance & ego problem in the front office, that still plagues them to this day. They believe any old Dallas reject will help them and they rely on old relationships way to much. Taking chances on those old Dallas rejects instead of going out and exploring new players has hurt the team a few times. Colombo is a perfect example.
I agree with all that you say, and the way to fix the problem is not to give yet another chance to these guys. Why should they get another one ? Its time to move on, and Sparano & Ireland had their chance, and it didn't work out. They now need to go elsewhere.
It's 4 years of this crap. Regime still working on oline and other positions still unresolved. Can't win at home. We lose next week and heads will be rolling.
