His contract is up. He either gets re-signed or franchised or that's all she wrote.

From what I heard on the radio just a few minutes ago that Henne just did something that has only been done 3 times before in all the NFL history (throw for 400 + rush for 50 +)

I really don't think we'll see Henne in a Phins uniform next year - even if he plays well.

I don't see us making the playoffs, which means Sparano will more than likely get fired and an entire new staff will be brought in. Knowing Ross, we'll go for a big name (Gruden / Cowher) and they'll want their own guy. (Good chance Ireland is gone if we bring in a big name that wants total control.)

It isn't like they would be inheriting a guy for the next season, a new coach would have to feel good enough about Henne to give him a contract and build the team around him. I just don't see it happening.

You're probably right, but Jim Harbaugh did re-sign Alex Smith, so you never know.

Hallaloo ! This is Henne's story here in a nutshell. Again the regime drafted him to do one thing, and yet should have seen his potential but were determined that instead of letting Henne develop as "Henne" they were going to force him to be what they wanted him to be. Another sign of their complete arrogance hurting and holding back this franchise.

Then if they don't re-sign him, and let him go, or if another regime comes in and wants "their guy" and he becomes the player he could be, the "Real Chad Henne" so to speak with another team, its yet another indictment of this regime. They had him and should have developed him properly.

It will be really sad if he does go somewhere and develops into a very good QB. How are the regime defenders going to deal with that ?

If Sparano/Ireland are fired, and if Henne has a good year then he would earn the chance to hold on to the starting job for a new regime.
IF the D gets its act together and if this was the real Henne then we are a playoff team.

The thing is, if they do let him go, we have NO QB next year. Matt Moore is the only one signed. We could be in for a few more years at least of mediocrity if Henne is not kept. Mid-season, if he has kept this up, he has to be re-signed or we face paying him even more if we let it go to the end of the season. He will leverage his FA. Is he to be a restricted FA ? If so someone in need of a QB can make an offer and we have to match it right ? Or is RFA done with this new CBA ?

If Henne plays all season like he did yesterday, anyone who comes in here will take him and give him a good contract. You don't give up on 90+ QBR, even if he isn't yours. Also, if Henne plays like he did, we're at worst an 8-8 team and that doesn't land you a top flight QB.

If Henne plays well in Miami this year, he's staying in Miami.

If Miami has a new regime then chances are most things are going to be blown up and we would be in a few years of being crappy until they have their pieces in place.

    Kind of like the Seahawks.

If Sparano is fired and Henne leaves and becomes a great QB, wouldn't that reflect badly on the new hypothetical regime for getting rid of Henne?

If Henne were under contract I would agree 100% - but (if he has a good year) he will get a deal from someone out there desperate for a QB. A new front office isn't going to sign him to a big deal and then draft someone.

OMG I see light at the end of the tunnel.

BUT wasn't Parcells the top dog to start preseason last year?
He didn't leave in time for them to make good timed changes. Making sure his help to Rex Ryan would make his fishy help would pan out.
You can't change what you can't control.
    Where's Henning now?

Henne's very good play IMO was overshadowed by Brady's unreal game and our D's horrendous game. How you throw for 400+ rush for 60, score 3 td's and still lose won't happen very often. Henne was good, Brady was lights out.

Any game where we make 3 stops on defense over an entire game is not going to result in a win.

Henne's biggest mistake was his endzone fades to Hartline. He puts up 7 there and that game would have been a lot closer than it was, and would have eliminated the 99 yard TD by the pats. THats a 14 point swing right there. But then again, if we did score there, i'm sure the pats would have came back and scored on their next possession anyways.

In a game where we had no business being in from one of the greatest performances by an offense in NFL history, Henne was the only reason we were even attempting an onside kick with 3 minutes left.

If dolfans don't think that's progress from our qb under the microscope they won't ever be happy. Again, just MY Opinion.

I don't get these guys, if Henne plays well then he'll stay, it's not like good qbs grow on trees, did you see Matty Ice without a running game, same results as the playoffs he sucked the big one.
Henne needs to be consistent and if he plays like he did Monday night on an ongoing basis we have a qb for years to come.
I've always supported him but I couldn't believe how in control of the offense and the level of leadership he displayed.
Don't get me wrong there's room for improvement big time, but he sure looks like he's pointed in the right direction

You know I kind of doubt any offensive line in the league moves Wilfork and Haynesworth. I wouldn't read too much into Monday's goal line struggles. New England is going to be very good if not great in goal line defense.

Henning could have and should have been out the door before the season started. Parcells left sometime in August. Sparano could have, if no good replacement could have been found, taken over the play calling, as he had done previously in Dallas.

Its still on Ireland & Sparano.

Doesn't make sense to fire Sparano if he has a winning season even if he doesn't make the POs because all you are going to do is hire Gruden/Cowher/Whomever with a bottom half of the draft pick and miss out on all of the supposed Top Tier QB talent. Then you are left with a new coach and still no QB....not even a Chad Henne because if you are going to stick with Chad you might as well stick with Tony. I think if Sparano shows enough progress in the offense and Chad turns into a legitimate QB then their jobs will be safe.

Saying...POs or bust in the AFCE to a team that was just 7-9 the season before is bordering on methamphetamine abuse.

It was nothing personal, I assure you. After all that has been said about Henne for the last year or so [most wanted him out of here] and he has just one decent game.
look at his numbers from the game. What stood out the most? Just one thing......... passes attempted. He averaged 32 throughout his career, completion % was about average for him, etc. basic math says that will get him more yards. His ypa were a bit better, mainly from the fact he had a couple more downfield passes than normal. His INT rate was good for the night as well. Point is, he had good numbers but nothing like most seem to think he had. 49 passes is too many for him to throw. Our team is not built to operate that way for long. Was it Daboll's play calling? Perhaps but it was far short of spectacular as well. We sprang the new OC Daboll on NE. We sprang the WC on NE as well. But it didn't take the rest of the league very long to figure that out. All I'm saying is that even though it was a positive game from the QB position, one game doesn't in any way mean the position is now fixed. We need to have several games like this in a row before I can even think about changinh my opinion on the situation. I've come up with egg on my face far too many times in the past. But, for at least one game, Henne does seem to be pointed in the right direction. Let's just see if he can keep going that way for awhile. ;)

Miami was 11-5 the first year and 7-9 the next year with the offense at the middle of the pack with a first year quarterback for over half the season.

What did Henning to do deserve to be fired?

He should have been gone cause he didnt want to be there. Fired? I dont know, but when a Coord is begged to come back when he wants out is a recipe for disaster. henning was on a beach in his mind, he didnt care about reworking his system to fit Henne, he didnt want to be there, he didnt want to evaluate all personnel then design the scheme to match the lines strengths, the backs strengths, the qbs strengths while eliminating plays that play to weaknesses.

Cautionary tell folks, Henne usually starts fast, then tails off, let's hold off on "the light coming on" just yet.

They easily can be the Packers of the AFC this season, good defense coupled with good offense.

Still though, doesn't matter, have to win this game.

We've never beaten them yet, so we'll see if they can. Let's at least do one thing different this time around. Have to find a way to keep the DL fresh and find a way to stop the run. I can live with Schaub rearing back a million times if we keep them from running in the red zone.

Totally agree. Let's see where we're at in 6 or 7 weeks once there is film out there of this offense and defenses adjust to us and then we make our adjustments. 2 months from now if we're still talking about Henne playing great, then we might really have something

What stood out was the interception total despite so many throws. He still made some bad decisions of course. In reality he was the same guy, but in a better system that wasn't setting him up for failure.

He wasn't really the same guy though. He ran for 60 yards, he took far more shots downfield, he went through his progressions much better.

His completion percentage was never an issue. The big issues were his ability to move the team down the field and scoring touchdowns. He took care of the first one. Lets see if he can take care of the TDs.
