This was an interesting article. I couldn't stop laughing at Marshall calling Henne "white vick". Someone here called him Chad Vick...I like that name better. Anyway, here is the link: http://www.miamidolphins.com/s/show...d37d57e363800522/8780111115313124811842155812
Henne is not mobile. What he is is a smart kid who has learned to take what a defense gives him. We saw the start of it last year, but I think it will be a bigger part of his game this year as we spread defenses out more. That QB sneak call was brilliant by Daboll. I wouldn't be surprised if we get away with it again this season, just because defenses will sleep on Henne's ability to run.
I agree with everything you've said but you have to admit he looks slightly quicker this year and I think some of it has to do with trimming down a little. He isn't a whole lot quicker but a little bit does make a difference.
I think someone made the comparison to Jay Cutler as far as mobility goes... that is very accurate in my mind. Just because someone is mobile does not mean they have Mike Vick speed.
Henne was tied with Frank Gore for 18th in the NFL in rushing last week. As a former baseball player I loved his pop slide skills. The guy appears to have worked is butt off in the offseason. Good for him.
No more concrete shoes..... Henne has done great work but don't give him all the credit here as talented as he is. Someone has helped him with his footwork and movement. Good coaching goes a long way.
I think Henne, can run a bit now, last yr, he could not, I still recall the Vikes game when he barely made it out of the endzone in the 4th qtr..yikes. Now what Henne has yet to show is scrambling ability, that is to say mobility behind the LoS that extends the play and allows Wr's to come open down the field, I'm not sure if he has that in his arsenal, but do recall he well he used to do on designed rollout to the right until Defenses learned to read it and clog that side of the field. Would love to see Henne, in that situation, show off that arm and throw it across the field to an open Wr, the play the Qb is not "supposed" to make as if the ball lacks velocity, it will be picked off.
That was a welcome sight. I bet the Patriots were surprised when he got his carries and were shocked by him putting up 416 yards against their defense.
That might be the most tasteless photo I've ever seen. I can't believe you'd bring that to the table.
while i agree, and being something ESPN should have known better than to publish, it was fitting to marshall's exact quote and worth a chuckle in all it's absurd and offensive glory.
I believe that was Alen if I am not mistaken. Regarding Henne, I though his pocket awareness (which resulted in the yardage he racked up) was much improved from last season, though he still took a couple of sacks. It was nice to see him willing to tuck the ball and run. Part of me wonders if the infamous timers from the last few training camps didn't teach him to simply eat the football, rather than improvising and trying to make something happen. The pessimist in me is concerned that Chad Henne and his 4.96 40 time were our leading rushers on Monday night.
He also is learning to keep his eyes downfield when he takes off. Early in the game he was getting rushed, started running right, spotted Hartline and threw a beautiful strike for a first down. Last year when he took off running, he was described as looking like a rhinoceros because he never looked downfield.
