I dont think there is one fan in Buffalo during the winter that isnt freezing their *** off at the game, regardless of how many jackets they have on...

The Bills fan base whipes their *** with ours. Hate it but thats the truth. Our fan base is so weak (obviously not any of us that are spending time on here talking about our team everyday).

Do you know how many Fin fans were screaming and waiving their hands to get everyone to stand up and be louder while WE were on 4th down on Monday? I was at the game... and I wanted to shoot half my section. Our dumb fans think they're supposed to cheer loud in support of our offense on 3rd and 4th down... its mindnumbing.

It's an angry and tired fan base. The same old same old for 10 years, and losing 11 of the last 12 home games make people question whether or not its worth all the money and time they have to put out to go to a game. For me, where I live, for a 1pm game, I have to leave by 10:30am, and don't leave because I tailgate until after 6pm. That means my whole day is shot. I only get two days off a week and going and sweating and seeing my team lose, well its not fun and its rather expensive "not fun". Many people have said **** it, until they show me they want to win, I will stay at home.

Add to that an owner that tries to replace its coach, and a Front Office that tries to replace its starting QB in an off season, its a turn off a lot of people. Those things just didn't infuse the fan base with a lot of confidence that anything will be any different this year.

And if they don't win on Sunday, or come very close to winning, even more of that fanbase will stay away, and I would think you'll see thousands more season ticket holder tickets showing up on Stubbhub and the NFL's ticket selling site.

Earlier this year, I argued that season ticket holders would be staying away in record numbers, and the "bliss in Dolphinland" people argued that I was crazy to say that. Look who is right, its painful to say......

This is right on about the cold.

As an Upstate NYer who has been to many a Bills-Dolphin game in December .... trust me, I'd rather have the heat. Not that the heat is any picnic, but I'd take it any day over five degrees and windy any day of the year! I'd move if I could, believe me.

I hear ya, and I'm frustrated too, believe me. I like to think I'd be the type who wouldn't turn away, but who knows. If I was actually shelling out the kind of $$ for season tix each year, perhaps I'd feel different?

Ross needs to have patience with the fan base because its been angry for a while. Why are you complaining about my post. Thats exactly what I was saying.

In your haste to troll one of my posts you didn't comprehend correctly.

yeah a 90% + capacity attendance for over 20 years and 103 straight sellouts sounds like a fair-weather fan base to me. :pity:

Troll one of your posts? What are you talking about? lol

To me, it sounded like you were questioning DJ's post about how Ross needs to have patience with our fanbase when you said "Wait a minute DJ......patience with the fan base?" and then seemed to rattle off reasons why we have been a great fan base with no need for "patience" from Ross.

If I misunderstood your post, I appologize. But I can assure you that I don't give 2 ****s about "trolling" you or your posts.

    90+% capacity? lol

Are we talking about the same stadiums? Even if the stadium was that full, which would be rare, it would be a Jets/Pats game and would be that full b/c half our fan base sold their tickets to the opposing fans...

I wasnt a fan in the 90's, so maybe it was different, but for the last decade our fans have been weak.

Why not have fountains set up around the stadium? Not "Water fountains" like you take a drink out of, but the kind they have in city parks?

To me saying "the fans need to toughen up" is no kind of solution, neither is "if we have 1pm games, it is just to hot"

You sort of can see why Ross proposed the water park.

Unless you've experienced the unrelenting misery of sitting in the hot sun in sofla, in a concrete box, with actual temps in the 90s and humidity about the same—all combining to create a heat index of 120+ degrees—you can't even imagine it.

Only locals or others who have attended a day game in September, or the guys who served in Vietnam can relate; others can't even imagine it.

Locals: look around your daily life; is there any place you attend as a destination here that isn't air-conditioned? That's because people don't want to be miserable, given a choice...they'd rather be comfortable.

I had season tickets at the OB; I was under the upper deck and it was still miserable...and the OB was an open steel structure with a breeze most of the time. JRS is a concrete mausoleum that absorbs heat and radiates it, but dampens and deadens noise.

I was down there in early August for a Marlins game once and it was SOOOO hot, just like you say above. And I lived in SoFla till I was 8 and remember. Thank God it rained that day, cooling things down a little.

That said, if I had to pick one or the other, Buffalo cold, or Miami hot, I'm taking hot. It's easier sitting there in shorts and drinking loads of water than being bulked up like an eskimo, drinking hot cocoa (who am I kidding - beer), and still being freaking cold. Trust me, unless you've experienced THAT ....

just so you know where I stand on this very sensitive topic..

I think our fans could be great, I think during this regimes tenure thus far, the fans have come to the games more than other regime has produced, {I believe the numbers prove that} all during a rebuilding project, thats good news..

What I do have a problem with, is a stadium that cannot compete with most other venues in terms of producing energy, and anyone who cannot conceptualize the negative dynamics of what that means to a franchise, performance and revenue, can piss off on this subject.

I've been to one of those September games, but at the same time I feel like I can relate based on where I live. We're generally in the "summer" in triple digits then 90% humidity on top of it. You start to sweat just walking out to the end of the driveway just to get the mail. It can indeed be miserable very easily.

As someone who grew up in northern Ohio, I would definitely take 5 degrees and windy over the stuff Nabo is describing.

absolutely 100 percent correct...sucks the life right out of ya, and makes you sit on your ***, or go to the corridors..

They better get smart and do something..If they were smart there would already be a campaign about it..Mike dee should know better comin from boston..That stadium in boston has made that franchise 100's of millions of dollars..Theres a reason..

Why do you think I believe if someone had the cash, it would be one big bad *** homerun investment, that would makes its money back on structure, and relevance in the community alone..

    2009 Miami Dolphins - 89.8 % 2009 Buffalo Bills - 95.9%
    2008 Miami Dolphins - 87.1 % 2008 Buffalo Bills - 97.7 %
    2007 Miami Dolphins - 92.5 % 2007 Buffalo Bills - 97.2 %
    2006 Miami Dolphins - 96.7 % 2006 Buffalo Bills - 92.5 %

Well the team has been pretty weak too......just saying.......

There are a lot of reasons why the fanbase is not as rabid as it once was, but much of it lies with what we all know. Many of the really good fans have moved away from South Fla, and were replaced as they left with people who really didn't care for the Dolphins, or became DolFans after the Super Bowl years and even the Marino years and just are not that into the Dolphins anymore.

the cold makes you have energy, cheer to keep your blood flowing, stand, jump around so you don't freeze, the heat, sit on ur ***, drink water, and go to the corridor..our fans are not the best in terms of education, but their at a severe disadvantage.

Does it? Most of the time, the Bills fans I'm with are sitting there just like me, trying to stay warm, under a blanket. I think we can agree here, though, neither experience is great for fans. Too hot or too cold can make you miserable.

Perfect is a December game down in Miami, though. It was a perfect 80 degrees for the Cleveland game last year - loved it.

It isn't a hatred for Ross. It is merely a desire for him to take an action which shows he is better than Wayne was as the owner of the Dolphins. The fact is that Sparano and Ireland were hired during the time Huizenga was majority owner of the Dolphins. As you admit yourself, Wayne didn't do a good job as the Dolphins owner. So if that is the case, there is no need for Ross to feel that he is some how obligated to keep the staff he inherited when Wayne sold him the team. It is too late for Ross to do much about changes for this season. Unless the Dolphins show vast improvement over the previous two years and make the playoffs this season. Ross will be expected to finally take charge and bring in a GM and head coach who can turn the Dolphins into a playoff caliber team.

If the Dolphins are once again a mediocre team and Ross fails to take the action necessary to bring in a new GM and head coach. At that time, your use of the word, "hate", might certainly be considered appropriate. For now, I think that fans are merely frustrated with Ross as the owner of the Dolphins. So far he has appeared unsure of himself as an NFL owner, and his decision making has left many fans and individuals around the NFL wondering if he has any concept of how to run an NFL franchise.

Sparano, Ireland, and the the players, have fifteen games to turn the disgruntled fans around. They either show that this team is headed in the right direction or the pressure will be on Ross to make the decisions he has failed to make since taking over ownership of the Dolphins. To take the pressure off Ross and the rest of the organization, all the Dolphins need to do is win and make the playoffs. It is as simple as that.

Why don't you go buy a ticket? You claim you're a die-hard Dolphins fan and all. It costs nothing but $100 for about two tickets. That's pathetic. Trying going to a New York game and spending that much. That would barely buy you a parking pass.

You are one of the reasons why Miami Dolphins fans are viewed the way they are. I know there are some fans that would do anything to have their *** on a seat but there are some extremely lazy ones on this board.
