We found ourselves a center. First things first, he's nasty, his athleticism shows at the 2nd level, always keeps his feet movin, he played well in his first game against very stout competition, and he has the talent and body to get better and stronger.. His play allowed Henne to see the middle of the field, allowed some good runs up the middle, allowed Lex to pick a up a first down on 4th and one up the gut, and really allowed Henne to step up in the pocket and either throw, or have a clear lane to run thru.. My embeddin skillz are bad azz..lol
After watching that and focusing on Carey...he actually did a pretty decent job Monday. He had a couple mis plays, mostly coming from blocks where he was helping or shifting over to block someone that came free, something that he hasn't had to do in quite a long time at the tackle position. I am a little less worried about Carey after watching that. I am still worried about Icognito and Colombo, although Colombo wasn't nearly as bad as I anticipated, it was against a not so great Pats pass rush. He will up for a bigger test this Sunday.
J.J. Watt is a different challenge for Incognito. Cody though is perfect for what we want to do with Incognito. I want him to him to use him frame and strength to throw Cody out of the way so that Pouncey can pull.
barring injury, I see our line getting better every week with Long and Pouncey being the anchors, it will make Cog's job easier. Carey will be fine too, IMO. Little worried if Williams lines up opposite of Columbo on Sunday.
The thing about Colombo is that he usually will get beat and that's why he's useless if you want to do deep drops, but at the end of the day he doesn't give up breakneck speed sacks. He can't handle Williams but he can give Henne a little time to make that quick throw. He's also very aggressive and I would love to run away from him and then counter on a few plays. He's not used to playing the strong side outside line-backer and having to hold down against the run. If he's forced to do that he can be beat.
Anyone else notice that they allowed Ninkovich (#50) to have a free run at Henne, who saw him coming, delivered the ball, and took the hit.
Ricky Williams.... “I really enjoy playing at the stadium up here. It’s crazy – every game is sold out,” he said. “So there are minimal Steelers fans in the crowd. One thing I didn’t like about Miami, when they have those rivalry games against the Jets, sometimes there’d be just as many Jets fans in our stadium than there were Dolphins fans. It’s really nice to experience a rivalry when you have so much fan support on your side.” YBell.. ''We just didn't have any fire, I don't know why..'' I don't wanna talk about it ALBSURE..lol
They used Jake Long to get to Jared Mayo on almost ever play against New England. I think the plan will be to have Pouncey get to Demeco in this one.
I'll answer his question. Because the Ravens are WINNING and he is a good reason why the stadium lost its fire. During his 1800 yard season that place was getting packed more and more with the diehards coming out from hiding. Then Ricky went into hiding, then Satan had the place filling up until we saw he was in over his head. Then Camaroon.....and now? Win some of the damned games and see what happens!
Maybe we've finally got a franchise Center? Its been a long, long time since Dwight Stephenson and Jim Langer and nothing much since.
The thing I would be most interested in is if Pouncey is the one who is handling the protection calls along the line. In the past this has been an area that the Dolphins have struggled in - most recently Samson Satele relied on Justin Smiley to make the calls (man, that seems like ages ago ...). Part of our problems along the interior line, I believe, have as much to do with a lack of communication and presnap recognition as they do with physical talent. If we can improve and anticipate what the defense is doing along the interior, then I think we'll start to see the results in the running game, especially on crucial third down plays. He's a very high draft selection; one of the highest ever. Let's hope he lives up to the hype.
As many times as I've posted on this subject, you have had to see my many replies on it. I've always said it is the select few that draw no matter what. There are only a select few though. The Denver's, Chiefs, Redskins, Packers and maybe a couple more. That's it though. The rest of the teams that go thru long periods of mediocracy, their attendance drops big time and especially if they continue to suck or get worse thru a season.
I recorded the Bills vs Chiefs game and there were at least 5-7,000 empty seats. I can get screen caps of it if you doubt me. I have the online NFL replay. If I am honest, I was shocked to see that myself, especially since KC is coming off a playoff season, but it was the Bills they were playing.
Ozzy, is correct, especially in Oakland. Right now, they play in the smallest stadium or near the smallest, and yet most games are about 60% capacity. Think back to the Dolphins game there last year......I was shocked, especially since Oakland has been known for its huge "national" following. You'd think if the locals aren't buying the tickets, that their huge following would be buying up tickets in their place.
