After the game, I was disappointed in yet another home loss before half a crowd. I wanted to post something and talk about the game but was at a loss for words, which never happens. I was numb, and kinda in neutral. I wanted to be mad at Carp for blowing two chip shots but, he is a top kicker, and "Stuff" just happens. I wanted to be mad at Marshall for dropping a TD but, could not. It was a tuff catch, and he has played well. I wanted to be mad at Henne but he was under the gun all day, and the pick was not his fault. I wanted to be mad at the OL but, Jake is not yet himself, and Columbo was not worth the effort. I wanted to be mad at our DB's but, Davis was hurt, and Jones was in his second game. I wanted to be mad at the coaches but, Nolan and Daboll have done well, and I did not see Sparano at fault. A day later, I'm still having a problem in getting out of neutral on this game. Based on posts, it appears I'm not alone. Anyone else feeling the same?
As I said in another thread...and seeing it in-person confirmed this. I know the concept of winning or losing and who you play matters..... ....that said, until Miami stops beating itself (and getting in its own way as JT says) the who we play matters little. We fail at our own responsibilities (that includes conditioning, focus, scheme, etc) long before the opponent even contributes to our loss, etc. Tired of seeing this team "beat itself" long before the opponent does something to exploit it.
i see what you are saying. fan sentiment is pretty low. in other words, there isnt much of a bottom we can fall to. it raises a bit every game day, but from what i read on here, a lot of people are checking out mentally. they love the team just as much, but are becoming callous its almost like a lot of our fanbase has put winning at a lower level than player evaluation. many seem to talk less of wins and losses, but instead just grade the players, units and coaching decisions. maybe we are just trying to make the most of our viewing time and stay sane
I may bang on Henne, I guess its becaue he is the head guy but, our receives have to hold onto the ball better. IMO if it hits their hands, regardless if its low or a high pass, its catchable. Isee game after game where other teams receivers manage to hold onto the ball. Hell, look at NE, they have midget guys, you hammer them and they still hold onto the ball. Then our DBs, sheeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeesh, they are all an exercise in futility. Brian Cox should be shown the door, our LBer play is embarassing to say the least. Tackling. evidently nobody on this team knows how to wrap up on people. Both games I have seen small guys and big guys get hit by our D and just keep moving down the field. Did I mention our DBs really blow ? They did last year against good teams and carried that over into this year.
There are positives from this game, Cameron Wake, Daniel Thomas, Henne not as well as last week but still showed some good things. There are other positives but unfortunately there are more negatives than positives and that is troubling. This team as yet hasn't turned the corner and all we can do is hope they can eventually.
Well, I'm proud of myself, in 09 the Texans loss nearly got me banned, this yr, I think we are a better team then in 09. Don't look now, but the Chargers gave up 35 to the patsies, and scored 21.. Do think Sparano's mancrush on Colombo is possibly the most foolish thing I've ever seen him do as Coach, this one just boggles the mind like pondering quantum physics.
I posted and posted to bring in McKinnie, and he looked great. We could have easily had him for around the same price.
What's happening here? Southbeach with nothing to say? Mammabilly wants to bang Henne? And Pads talking as if he can get banned? We need a win desperately.
Oh yeah, 09 was a bad yr for me... What frustrates me about this season so far is the talent level of the team vs the performance, which more or less makes them unlovable under performers vs over achievers who are in every game, but never quite turned the corner.
True story BD, and you visit South Beach, try The Playwright Irish Pub on 13th and Wash. There are MANY more of us. Thanks for the advice but, we're too busy drinking and having fun to go out in the sun. That's for the tourists. LOL
Not mad or what have you, right now I'm more..surprised? Bemused? Let's be honest hre D22, we are terrible at home, we played two playoff caliber teams, the results were not unpredictable, what does bother me is this is yr #4, we should be much closer to winning those games then being resigned to losing them. Now to me, the Browns game is our yardstick, we "know" we've lost to two playoff teams (more then likely) now how do we play a team we should beat? A team that beat us last season, and one that plays the sort of small ball that we had been playing in 09 and 10, only with better ST's?
You know the OP is right, when the schedule came out I penciled these in as Ls. I still had us going 10-6 though. I guess we will just have to see on Sunday! That one I gave us the W!
Welcome to Apathy Land. This is a new place we sadly call home. You want to care, but they make it so you can't. You want to support them, but you get nothing back in return. You want them to win, but you want change which can only happen with losses. Here in Apathy Land, you are not alone. We are the emotionless. We are the downtrodden. We are the ones they don't care about. We have a voice. In the past we used our voice. There is only so much of your voice you can use until you realize that you are just pissing in the wind. The population of Apathy Land is growing every day. Welcome and enjoy your stay, or not.
Terrible at home. More resigned to losing than closer to winning. More questions than answers , this is year four. Unprepared , coaching wise and player wise. Those are reasons to make me mad Padre. This isn't trending the right direction , after two games , regardless of winning or losing , the way we played clearly indicates to me we are no further ahead overall , although I am really plussed by Chad Henne , I have to tell you. I have no confidence that Ireland or Sparano will have this team at point further than at the end of last season , so that doesn't make me happy.
Hard to dispute your replies FF. IMO, Columbo was the only bad decision made by the team. Others are debatable but, unless Columbo becomes a different player, he is not.
How do you fix a VG kicker missing two chip shots, the block was because he kicked it way too low? How do you fix a "pro bowl WR dropping a TD for the second week in a row? How does one blame coaching for not doing what one was brought up to do?
