Throwing touchdowns in a vacuum is not an inherent quarterback success trait. There's play call, there's execution of the other players, there's defense.

Tell me, what went wrong today in that regard?

The Dolphins have scored 2 touchdowns in the last two games. In the fourth quarter when quarterbacks are suppose to play their best. Henne has failed to get the Dolphins in the end zone for the last two weeks. Yet Colt McCoy, with his best running back sitting at home, led his team to victory. Henne can make the throws in the NFL. He just isn't able to get the Dolphins in the end zone or win games. Quarterback is still the number one need for the Dolphins.

How in the hell did he play scared? He was pretty aggressive with a lot of throws, and he most certainly didn't come up with decent stats by dumping off for 12 yards on 3rd and 15 or the like.

not every qb is forced to try to squeak out a win with less than a minute left because their defense blew a lead almost weekly

Only if touchdowns are made illegal by the NFL. As it stands, Henne doesn't have the accuracy or touch to fit the ball into tight windows in the red area.

That's the problem dude. His RZ accuracy. You wanna know why he isn't a top 15 QB? He can't score TD's, nor can he win games in the 4th quarter.

Here is a bold prediction: Chad Henne will never throw 3 TD's in a game as a Miami Dolphin.

Does anyone honestly believe we had a shot to win this game after going in a prevent Defense up by 6?

Since when is only getting your team into the end zone ONE time a pretty good game?

He played great in stretches, like the first half today and against the pats. He's been pretty bad other then that. Multiple times in the 2nd half today with little pressure he got rattled and ran straight into a defender, that was pathetic. Your not a runner, take off as a necessity not to just do it.

It hasn't really been his accuracy, either. He hit Marshall square in the hands, for example. He hit Hartline in the hands last week, too.

Normally agree with a lot of your posts D, but to say he wasn't shook in that 2nd half is foolish. He looked scared ****less

Nah, what I think happens is they are bound and determined to throw the ball for TD's instead of simply pounding the ball into the EZ.

Why that is, I do not know, do know Henne is not the issue.

Because it's not his fault entirely? You've got penalties, you've got sacks, you've got receivers dropping well thrown passes, etc. Blaming it on the quarterback is lazy.

There is no question that his performance drops off during those periods.. To me, that is a coachable problem that can be fixed with experience. Henne is clearly a better, more assertive QB now... That doesn't mean he has arrived or tapped in to his full potential.. Because once he does, he can be the franchise QB we have been waiting for.

What do you think I am talking about? He only had to move the team ten yards and he failed, quite miserably. I like Henne but the end of the game he didn't grasp the moment at all.

Quarterbacks become Quarterbacks just for opportunities like the one Henne had at the end there, and the good ones make that throw, let alone the great ones.

Henne threw the ball about 8 feet over his Receiver's head on that crossing route; it wasn't even close.

It's a shame because Henne had been playing so much better than last season, but right there he just demonstrated that he's not worth the investment in effort to even continue to develop.

    Game over; reset.

He didn't get particularly good performance from his peers, either. The interception wasn't particularly well advised, but on 4th and 10 with the game on the line you're throwing it into whatever coverage you got.

No clue? The moment maybe? He played scared of something, did you miss him running directly into defenders multiple times with no pressure. Sure looked scared to me.

I like Henne, always have but I don't think he is a franchise quarterback but we will never truly know, not behind this offensive line. This franchise has created indifference and that is a death knell for any franchise.

What does that mean, "Didn't grasp the moment"

Are you implying that he didn't understand the grave nature of needing 10 yards there? Gates was literally pushed out of bounds by the defender.... Full contact all over him way after the intial 5 yards.... The first down throw was catchable.. The INT was just a poor pass.

The Cleveland D also made plays on the ball.. Unlike our D that got away with few PI penalities on the last drive and still couldn't close the deal.

Dan Marino couldn't pass with this garbage assed O line. Please put the hate where it is deserved. Henne can't do anything with .2 seconds to find an open WR.

Henne is not an NFL starting caliber QB. Sure he can physically make the throws, but he doesn't have the brain and the eye to be a legit passing threat week in and week out.

Whatever great QB's have that allows quick decision making to produce successful plays/drives, Henne doesn't have. He has the arm, but not the head. He's going to be a decent career backup QB at best, but that's it. We need a legit QB.

I don't know what his teammates could have done to help him out more on that last drive when he pretty much **** the bed almost by himself. I can't believe there was not at least one look that did not have an wide open receiver in those four downs.

Get us into field goal range. That's it.

I have always been a Henne defender and I still am, but I will always be honest on his performance, If you got a issue with this I don't know what to tell you.

Chad Henne melted there. If you can't see that you're blind. The team didn't help him either, but he played worse than at any point in the game. Your going to need your QB to win games. He hasn't shown a knack to do that.

Ronnie, if you read my posts, you will see that I am critical of his RZ performance and the INT on the last drive. I absolutely agree with you, he could have made better decisions in not only the RZ, but during that last drive.

Based on what he is doing during the course of a game, I feel that those mistakes CAN BE FIXED and are coachable. He is in his third year with a revolving OL and a coaching staff that is about to get executed. He dealt with the Wildcat the previous 2 years every time he made a couple of good throws. We all know he struggled last year and was hung out to dry, but I'm seeing a lot more of Henne circa 2009 than Henne 2010, and a much improved version of the 09 Henne that had us very excited before the 2010 season started.

As for FG range, he got us in to FG range twice, one time our brilliant coach decides to insert the inert Reggie Bush in to the game and he fumbles, the other time Dan Carpenter misses yet another field goal.. If we score 3 on either of those possessions we win. Team effort bro.

What the hell are you smoking, the guy is not a winner any other qb in the the afc east would have won this game. You get the ball inside the 50 yard line with 40 seconds left and you can't even get in field goal range.Stats are for losers the bottomline he led this team to 1 td against the cleveland ****ing browns.I am sick of these damm homers with thier rose colored glasses on.Mark my words chad henne will not be the starting qb next.Do you think anybody fears chadd henne with the game on the line.
Chadd henne is a back up qb and that is all he will ever be!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!Get over it.

They haven't been fixed...in 3 years. Not with the most accurate red zone QB ever to help...Chad Pennington. Not with the help of 2 different OC's and QB coaches. Not with "more responsibility". If you haven't figured it out in year 3 when will you? I mean isn't this the measuring stick year?

It never was a debate for me. It was Henne's season to show he can be a top 12 QB all along. And I wanted Sparano and Ireland to either succeed or fail with him. We'll see if this team quits soon enough and if its time to blow it all up anyway.
