well....If Killer wearing a Brandon Marshall jersey, while taking care of business with a one night stand can't get us a win, were screwed..lol... Up until this point in the season, I must apologize to the folks that I have debated about this teams coach and direction, They were right, I was wrong about Parcells, I was wrong about the coach, and I was wrong about how good the team could be....I've always been a personnel guy, and I did want to hire Tomlin and Harbaugh very badly, but I've got to speak up when I see weaknesses in the front office. The one thing I would like to say that is probably controversial to some is this, I'am a fan first and foremost, and when it is time to start a season, I'am not gonna rip them until I see them play, and I say that because we never really know how a team can come together, History shows us that.. I do believe that a fanbase and negativity before they play, can affect a player, and when it has as much vitriol as it had this offseason, especially at Henne, I'am gonna say this, not because I know that it is true, but I believe that it might be, but I think when a team doesn't have the support of its fanbase before they even play a game,{and in this case it was seriously evident this offseason, moreso than I have ever seen, anywhere} then I think THAT, can cause an attitude of laziness and spite, a cancer if you will...I mean, when your an athlete, and you don't have that support before you even play, what is really motivating you to do that extra rep? to practice that much harder?, to dig just a bit deeper?, if your own fans hate you, and criticize you, before you played a game? ..Do we have a case where this affected the motivation and purpose of a football team, i don't know, but it is something I think about when it comes to our culture. I thought Henne was sharp today, thought his speed of motion was very fast, and he did it while being under tremendous pressure right from the beginning of the game..I think were down to watching him this year to see if he's our future, I think the way he played that final drive keeps the lights bright on him..There seemed to be some timidness there, which I don't understand ,he was very decisive throughout the game..but he did leave himself open because of it..Jury is out still if he is the future, the light should be still on him, so we can either go all in for a QB this upcoming draft, or not. The fact that Sparano was trying to get the guys riled up on the sideline before they took the field for their final drive, and the team responded in the fashion that they did?...not a good sign.. The playcalling when we were at their 47 was shady...Get Henne on the move to the right, roll the pocket and pick up your 15 yards, if the coordinator was trying to set up the middle of the field by throwing a deep sideline fade I could maybe understand, but he wasn't...3 games in and he's now shown on 2 critical situations where he called the situation very poorly. Can anyone show me the brown *** that JT kicked..? The Jets and and Pats lost games that we didn't account for.. Daniel Thomas was right, he does turn it on when the lights come on, I haven't noticed that upright style one bit. Mark Columbo is done...he can't play at this level, regardless of what Sparano tries to tell us..an indictment on the coach and the GM.. Brandon Marshall and the interpretation of what elite is, since his arrival, I don't think we can put him in that category, top 5 at the position is elite imo, and he's not there.. I have shortened my time frame on the coach, it was 5 games, now its four, losing to cleveland will do that, he either wins in san diego, or I go full blown scouting college players and coaches, I know, most are already there..It's not about hope, or support, its just about giving the team this final chance in the first quarter of the season to show us all, whether their truly done. Now I understand the likelihood of this regime lasting is slim to none, and there is really nothing to be positive about, so besides the QB position, I think tackle, safety, tight end, guard, and inside linebacker are all equally important to find..lol...that should keep us busy this year.. I'am a dolphin fan, always have been, always will be..Cheer up guys, trying to find the right makeup for an organization is half the fun, we'll get it right..
I think first and foremost, we need to have a replace our coaching staff and Front Office. I like Ireland, but I think it's time to move on for the sake of change. As far as roster moves, attack the positions that will have the biggest impact. QB, FS, Pass rusher, then Corner.
Eh, I'm not ready to toss in the towel just yet Deej, for a couple of reasons: -Defense has been playing incrementally better -ST coverage units have improved -DTrain is on fire -Henne is throwing well WE left 17 pts on the field, for me those are grounds to see a turnaround. And as I've pointed out ad nauseum, if we have a bad yr, we get a Qb, if we have a good yr, we've found our Qb in Henne.
I don't know which is more disconcerting, our record or Killer having sex (I hope he at least paid for it).
I think Sparano has one more chance to win next week. Unfortunately for him it's against a tough team. I dont know if firing him would have any affect on how the season goes. The Fins system is set and its do or die time. If TS cant handle it maybe give Daboll a shot, but in the end, I am thinking the whole coaching staff needs to get the boot if this team cant put together a winning record.
I agree but it's the same thing I said last week. There are some nice things to take away from the game, but we still can't seem to find a way to finish games and get some freaking wins. We absolutely destroyed Cleveland today and still lost the game.
We had rookie Jimmy Wilson on the Wr on the TD play, that is the sort of thing that leads to losses RR. I once heard it said every rookie you start, costs you 1 game, the guys who are costing us are Rooks and 2nd yr players. Wilson burned for the TD, DTrain's fumble v the Texans, in the NFL things are like water pressure, it flows down hill following the path of least resistance, and thoe guys are offering the least resistance.
all I know is when he was talking about it, I was visualizing it...with full clown makeup and a marshall jersey...ahooooooooooo!!!
Eh, DT came within 5 yds of back to back 100 yd games, and Henne has played as well as he ever has, if Colombo was just terrible those things would not be happening. Don't look now, but Big Jake has looked completely mortal this yr.
not yet Pod, 1 more week buddy, we'll see if we can delay the draft forum this season..I think there is a chance that as men, they can still come together..
I think so, the real question is, does Sparano shake things up? Take Jones out at FS? Start Will Allen over Carroll if VD is not healthy? Sit Colombo and or Carey?
As I've said time and again, bringing Sparano back after that 38-7 loss was a total mistake, and I think that's been proven now. He's in over his head, and he can't go to Parcells for help now that he's long gone. Jeff Ireland...well, he's made some good draft picks. His free agents more or less have been hit or miss. There's good, young, talent on the roster. But that talent doesn't play well enough together, and the coaching can't get them over the hump. In my opinion, for the Dolphins to be successfull, both in the short-term and long-term, is to full cleanse itself from Bill Parcells tenure. Yes, that means saying goodbye to Jeff Ireland, and kicking Sparano's @$$ out the door ASAP (I'd do it tonight if I were Stephen Ross, but I bet it'll come during the bye when we're 0-4). I think it also means finding a QB. Chad Henne, while improved, is still entirely too deficient in the redzone, and isn't the long-term answer. This team needs to invest, and I mean fully invest unlike what Jeff Ireland said to the papers last week about being scared of the ramifications of drafting a QB high not working out, in a top tier QB. I'd sacrifice any player, including Jake Long, Cameron Wake, and Brandon Marshall, to get one. It has to be done, as great QB play is the only way to win, and win big, in today's NFL. As an aside, CK pretty much nailed most everything he predicted would happen to this team in the offseason. Most people on here doubted him, debated him, and the like. Kudos to you CK for sticking to your guns, even when it was something the majority of this board wasn't prepared, or equipped, to hear about.
I'm all for letting Tony finish out the season. Mostly on the basis of curiosity (subconscious amusement).
As sad as it is to say it, but Phil Rivers giving Tony Sparano the Old Yeller treatment next week...well, it's probably the best thing for this franchise, both now and well into the future. Tony Sparano does not deserve another week running this organization, and I'm 99% sure I'd say the same about Jeff Ireland. The negligence in building this current roster is becoming more and more frustratingly blatant. Even Armando put it out there in that nicely written article, and when he's penning work like that, you know it's bad.
Nolan Carroll is absolutely atrocious. Put Wilson in, at least he has the excuse of being a rookie and is around the ball. Anyone disappointed Carroll got credit for a tackle when Watson gave him a serious stiff arm on the way out of bounds. Watson really gave him the business there. I would much rather have Sapp than Carroll on the team.
Toss in the towel for what? Not sure if you mean playoffs , the season , the regime? IMO we can have a bad season and still have found our QB , I see more things to show he will be than not , and while I am not counting on it I am strongly encouraged personally.
I still have hopes for this season D22, I think the team has hit bottom, will they stay there? I do feel Henne has raised his level of play, that to me is clear as day, however, he is not there yet if you get my meaning? What encourages me about Henne is he has stopped being a stupid Qb. I think they should feed DT more and cut Bush's carries by half, but use him more as a Wr in the redzone.
I think you have to find a way to fix that OL. Put Bush and Thomas in the backfield together so that you can use Bush on a Jet sweep. Put some serious speed on the field but run it early and often.
Regarding the two bold points. Yes, the team has hit bottom, and as long as Tony Sparano is running the team, they will stay there. Chad Henne is clearly not there yet. He's redzone deficient. I don't think he's the long-term answer, despite his improved play between the 20s.
Hope for the season? I have that if you mean can I see Miami playing better , eliminating some negatives and winning some games. Zero hope for playoffs , and hope that Ireland and Sparano are on their last season. \ I don't think they will be fired until the end of the season , however something embarrassing could nullify that. I concur re Henne, he needs to finish better and I think he will , and that also is not at all , all on him .
Well, the way I see it, we are tied for last in the AFC, with 3 AFC losses, but 1 to a team that could challenge for a WC, the other two figure to win their divisions. Pats and Texans, the Browns loss hurts us strategically depending on how their season plays out. 1 win we tie the Jags and Bengals, and leave the Chiefs in the cellar. That is how I see it, and if we beat the Raiders we have a tie breaker vs the Jets. So all in all, I'm not demoralized, Tony Dungy was correct a "must win" is a game that either secures, or eliminates you from the playoffs, we are not there yet.
We were there when sparano said he didn't have answers when asked about losing. We should have fired him then.
That you even referenced what a must win is , is telling after 3 games n'est pas? I am positive about the positives , and not cheerleading about the not positive areas. I want this team to win , but believe we need a change at the top and that includes coaching but don't think it should happen during this season .
I agree, for me I dislike in season coaching changes, they more or less amount to hiring some schmoo to ride the boat unto the reef and then leave. I'm also not a cheerleader for some of the things Sparano has done, the right side of the OL is bad, he has a poor sense of when to replace running backs, and by ditching Lou Polite, we do not have the same sort of running attack down inside the 10 yd line. Perhaps that is to say, as we do not know if Hilliard can lead block that well as they rarely use more then 1 down inside the 10 to try running the ball into the EZ. I referenced the "must win" simply because as fans, we do not have the objectivity to say which game is truly a must win, and which one is not. 'm a BC fan, and believe me, at 1-5 for the second straight yr, I caught hell defending Wally Buono, they turned it around and are going to play for first place in the West, sometimes we lose objectivity D22.
