I'm personally very excited about this news. Here's my short list of candidates to be Steve Rogers:

    - Neal McDonough: Already has experience in a 'soldier' role from Band of Brothers. Doesn't have to dye his hair or change his eye color. My personal favorite, right now.
    - Matthew McConaughey: Was ripped out of his mind in Reign of Fire. Could bring a lot of intensity to the role.
    - Nathan Fillion: He's technically Canadian, but I think he could pull the role off, given the chance.

    :sidelol:

I can't believe you just referenced Angels in the Outfield. I don't remember the film, but IMDB has him listed, so you must be right ...

I do remember him in Band of Brothers, that was why I suggested him.

 How many times have you seen that movie, anyway? I'm looking at the credits list, and it's actually pretty impressive ... Adrian Brody was in that movie too ...

    Sounds good.

They should do Spider-Man and his Amazing Friends, and also AquaMan.

Ironman 2, Capt America and Avengers all sound good. Antman and Thor seem like a waste of time.

Ant-Man and Thor are going to suck. Avengers has a high probability of sucking. Captain America can be good as long as they stay away from making political points--but it's Hollywood, so I don't doubt the story will be something like "Cap fights in modern war, generals are evil, Cap proves patriotic by ending evil military-industrial complex war."

Iron Man 2 is going to be awesome, though.

In all fairness... Comic Books tend to fall on the other spectrum of politics. Captain America will be invariably political, because he is a character that is meant to represent American values therefore be utterly political in his inception. But for the most part he represents a sort of American moral certainty and view that trumps the worlds view. In other words, it is sure to fall more on the side of right wing politics than on liberal politics.

Comic books tend to. (with the exception of Green Arrow, and that dude they pretty much throw it in there just to make fun of it... so...)

I wonder what they are going to do with Cap. Are they going to do a full movie that is his rise to greatness and his sacrificing death or is that just going to be a blurb and the rest of the movie is going to be about how a man from the WWII era fits into modern Day America.

Avengers movie is going to rock. Heck if they can keep up with Iron Man, I am sure Ant-Man will at least be enjoyable and Thor will be fun.

Remember these movies are actually produced by Marvel. They have much more say in the direction of the movie than before

I totally disagree. Comic books are much more liberal, at least the Marvel universe has been.

I don't think you're too familiar with the character or how he's presented. He is an apolitical figure, and Marvel takes some great strides to present him that way.

The only way they could justify politics in a Captain America movie would be if a) Ed Brubaker wrote the script, or b) they're using Ultimate Captain America.

The Riddler at Magic Mountain is the best. I would like to see what kind of ride they would make for Iron Man though.

Well, we know they're using Ultimate Nick Fury. soooo ....

I would never have thought Nathan Fillon for Captain America, but that would be AWESOME!

Two different continuities. Classic Cap has a 60 year backstory. Ultimate Cap was created a few years ago for a different line of comics intended to provide fodder for possible movie scripts, as well as give people new to comics a ground floor to come in on. "Samuel L. Fury" is the Ultimate version of Nick Fury.

Ultimate Cap is basically even more 1940s than regular Cap.

Many thought Iron Man was going to disappoint so you never know.

I am pumped about this news and can't wait for The Avengers to hit theaters, granted it is still another 3 years away but I'm still excited.

Isn't Spider-Man part of The Avengers and if he is how would they make him part of The Avengers movie? I think Sony owns the rights to Spider-Man so how would Marvel be able to get him involved?

Spiderman needs a ton of work IMO. I never really could get into any of the movies, esp after they cast Topher (110lbs nerd) Grace as Venom. That series needs a completely new cast IMO. Stop playin around around and get Gylenhal and Diesel in there for spidey and venom.

A lot of flagships of the movement (miller, Brian Michael Bendis) are overtly libertarian in their views (if you check out Dark Night strikes again, or whatever that awful book is, half of it is making fun of liberals).

And if you check out the cast of candidates, they are for the most part highly conservative in the worldsphere. For the most part they are all about American supremacy (there is a reason people outside of the US make that a chief concern about comic book movies) and Captain America is the very symbol of it.

I dont think you got to worry about politics. I for the most part try to move them out (I actually got people angry while trying to point out the horrible politics behind batman. So I stopped) IF you can't get over it, I feel like you really can't just have fun.

Well I mostly read Marvel and I find them generally very liberal. I could see libertarian, still they do not paint republicans in a good light and have not for the last 10 years at least.

Captain America is more of a symbol of everything that is going wrong with America. Especially the Ultimate version of him. He is from the golden age and sees what is wrong with the world today.

They are making an Ant Man movie.

The plan is they are going to make a movie with each Avenger and then make an Avenger movie with them all in it. That is why there is a Hulk, Thor, Ant-Man, and Ironman. I am sure Wasp will be in the Ant-Man movie.

THOR may be the coolest one that comes out... Or close to it, MARVEL said that Thor will be their Lord of the Rings, meaning a medieval setting I'm assuming? That would be quite awesome! Then bring him into modern day somehow?

Captain America will be stellar with a modern day feel... Here's a couple posters I did with this in mind, I couldn't really think of anyone to be Cap so I just used Brad Pitt for the All American look.
