So, it seems all but certain Tony Sparano will not be our head coach after this season. There is all the talk about Bill Cowher, Gruden, Dungy etc. But what is NOT a certainty, is if any of those coaches will come here or WANT to come here.

So, how about someone we ARENT talking about? If we didnt get one of the big name guys, where do you see Ross going for to try to right this ship, yet again! :pity:

Do we go the coordinator route? College coach (god no), or someone else we arent thinking about?

If the Dolphins get the number 1 pick in the draft, EVERYONE will want to come here.

I do not think Ross has an option. He knows he must hire a big-name coach to instill confidence and fill the seats. Not everyone gets lucky like the Falcons did with Mike Smith.

What's funny is that Mike Smith and TS were co-coaches of the year in 2008

I'm interested to see what kind of head coach Rob Chudzinski could be. It may be helpful to have a guy who has some winning roots down here. But could be the next Cam Cameron too..

Actually...not sure if HC material. Sure would be interesting though, huh? Take the Phins/Jets rivalry to a new level.

I say we should have listened to Don Shula and hire the man he would have hand picked as his succesor...Marty Schottenheimer.

I don't think anyone would argue his regula season abilities as a head coach, taking the Browns to the AFC Championship (only to lose to Elway with "The Drive"), the Chiefs to the AFC Championship (Losing to Jim Kelly and the "K Gun"), amassing a 14-2 regular season record in San Diego...before the post season implosion in the playoffs.

With all the Schottenheimer has done, I'd hate to see him become the Head Coach version of Dan Marino...one of the greatest to never win a championship.

Nah passed his days. The games evolved too much for him. IMO honestly I'd go after Fisher.

With Dana Holgorsen there, he sure does look like a good prospect. But I have my doubts for now, which it wouldn't be fair for me to get into until I do more work on him.

    In order....

    1. Cowher (Negative: No coach has ever won a Super Bowl with 2 different teams as HC)
    2. Gruden (Dude gets it. However, he has the best of all worlds right now with his job at ESPN. He would be a fool to leave it)
    3. Rob Ryan (You really can't go wrong with a Ryan at this point.)
    4. Jim Tressell (Can he make the move from college to the pros? Why not)
    5. Anyone not named like they are part of the Italian Mob.

Not sure if his extension included next season or not. All things considered though, I'd bet Mike Brown keeps him another year if the Bengals continue to be competitive in games with all the young players in key positions for them this season.

I'd like Cowher. I know we're 0 for the last two decades in the "Big Name Hire" (I don't really need to list the names, do I?), but I still think he'd bring some much needed stability and change of culture to this franchise. You certainly wouldn't see the team play with this "drag ***" type of effort we've seen going back to the last few weeks of last year.

I wonder how West Virginia Athletic Director Oliver Luck would feel about Dana Holgorsen leaving the program to coach his son Andrew Luck on the Miami Dolphins, with Jon Gruden as the Head Coach. Or with Bill Cowher as the Head Coach. Even better.

To be fair we've also struck out in the 'promoting excellent coordinators' category so we really shouldn't let the big name thing worry us too much.

I believe he's under contract through next year.

Either way, I'd much rather make a run at Lewis than try to go after a guy like Cowher.

I agree with Pagan, would love to see Rob Ryan....

While I think Gruden, and Cowher may be a better options, I don't want to coddle a guy to consider to take a position, you either want to coach football or you don't....I don't want a guy who you have to give him all these perks, options, power/control and ridiculous salary just as a prerequisite. Rob Ryan told Romo in so many words after Week 1 that he sucks, and stop acting like a superstar, because you haven't won shi$ in this league, I love that because well it is true......but also Ryan will change the culture in Miami, and damn guys they need a culture change....I get the feeling from Ryan, that the guy is all business and is as serious as hell to coach the game of football....Is Gruden? Is Cowher.....? I don't even take Gruden seriously anymore.......

I want a more defensive minded HC, with a kick-a$s OC....defense ladies and gentlemen still will win championships in this league....but most of all I want a guy with a proven track record in this league, and is hungry as hell...Ryan kinda fits this bill.....does Cowher, Gruden, or even Fisher or Billick? I cant say with 100% certainty they do...

#1 Dick Lebeau as HC for the next 2-3 years and our OC can take over when he retires. Dick can teach the DC(Some Solid Defensive minded college head coach)everything he knows so we do not skip a beat.

    Or

Cowher and have him snag Lebeau as his DC.

#2 Is Alex Gibbs Retired??? Whos O line is he Coaching? Get his Arse in Here!!! He is the true reason for the Denver Broncos Super Bowls. Check the Data. Gibbs left the building and Denver began the slide. He is the Reason RB's succeeded, I mean any RB..... If making him head coach is the only way to get him in here, do it. He can do wonders with Jake and Pouncey. Get another couple athletic olineman drop the fat, keep bush and thomas and we are in. Bush and DT would be sick in a zone scheme PERIOD.
