Can you explain? Marvin Lewis' teams were some of the most undisciplined in the NFL, off the field and on it.
Just looking at the stats, the Bengals have been about average in terms of penalties on the field. But Lewis IMO has done as good of a job as you could ask for. You always see his teams play fundamentally sound. You never see them quit. He's won 47% of his games in Cincinnati, with essentially no front office help. His teams have a bunch of criminals, but when you don't have a scouting department, you're forced to take on those guys out of necessity. I think the fact that you have all those characters on the team, yet no real blow ups is a big positive. IMO Lewis is one of the 5 best coaches in the league.
Guess I just haven't been that impressed with him. 9 years as HC, only made the playoffs twice (not making it this year), and no playoff wins. He'd sort of be an under-the-radar type hire, which wouldn't necessarily be a bad thing IMO, but he's had a ton of time in Cincy with a pretty good QB, and couldn't do much.
Is it weird that simply reading this name made me ever-so-slightly aroused? (And I have no idea who this person in by the way)
Jon Gruden was turned down after basically fighting for the UM job. Would be quite ironic if the Dolphins hired him.
Can you imagine Chucky and Holgersen on the side lines together. Holy crap....that would be a fun sideline to sit on!!!
This would make sense. But only if we keep Nolan on as WRs coach, with Daboll moving to LBs coach and bring aboard Isiah Thomas as head of personnel with Karl Dorell as head of player development.
Probably shouldnt say this, but there was quite an army of former UM players that very strongly opposed hiring Jon Gruden. From what I gather, players don't have much respect for him. Take it with a grain of salt of course.
I'd be opposed to Gruden if only for the fact that he'd probably creep everyone out with his non-stop gawking over Cam Wake's physique all during practices, and team meetings.
I believe so. I think Gruden is the type of guy, that when things go bad, he will place too much blame on the players. So naturally thats going to guys getting benched often. Players don't like being thrown under the bus really.
Well not sure if these names have popped up, just throwing them out there.... 1.Mike Shula- be nice to have a Shula back gracing our sidelines 2.Jack Del Rio-If let go by the Jags..i said if dont rip on me..lol 3.Rob Ryan-Brings fire to the side lines and yes alot of junk food too...haha again just tossing names out..... I personally would like Jon Gruden......
In that case. I shall bring forth Mike Gundy. He's a true players' coach. And that's true. So, Mr. Ross... GO AFTER HIM! HE'S A MAN; HE'S 40!!!
Huh....you know...thinking back....I think Warren Sapp said something along those lines.....I think alot of them were pissed that Gruden won the Super Bowl with a team they felt like Dungy built.
So his contract expires and the end of 2010??? Mike Brown is getting a heck of a deal this year.......lol
He's also close to 70 years old.......too old IMO to coach in the NFL these days. You need a younger man.
