EA has to be the most worthless company on the planet. Supposed to have gotten my beta invite hours ago... Nothing.

Edit - Lo and behold, just as I was posting I see "Your early access to the Battlefield 3 Beta" pop up in the bottom right corner of my screen...

Meh. Playing it on 360 since that's what I bought MOH for. I apparently suck, a lot, with an xbox controller. Lots of lag and bugs, but that's what betas are for, to fix those issues. I just can't stand the map really. Any map without vehicles is not a battlefield map as far as I'm concerned. Really wish they would of used the Conquest game mode complete with tanks, helis, and jets, but it's whatever. They use the Rush game mode, where the attacking team needs to blow up 8 M-COM stations. Graphically, it's good. Nothing really earth shattering. I don't really care too much for eye candy when playing a multiplayer FPS anyways though.

The starter guns seem good. I love the addition of tripods to reduce recoil. Works wonderfully with LMG's. Also like the addition of the whizzing of bullets from an LMG suppressing the enemy, causing them to have reduced accuracy and a blurry screen where the bullets are whizzing past them. That's what LMG's are supposed to be for. You get a "Suppression Assist" bonus when a teammate kills a suppressed enemy. I only played about an hour since I had things to do. I did unlock a shotgun, which I used, but didn't like. Pump Action. Hit a few guys but they didn't go down and I got owned before I could pump and hit them again... Did blast one guy away from close range though. The one qualm I have with the gunplay is single fire. I'm glad that they added the ability to change fire modes, but man, single fire really isn't even better than full auto from medium/long range. Pretty disappointed with that since I've always preferred single fire for the increased accuracy and lower recoil. You're better off keeping it in full auto and firing in bursts. 2/3 shot burst fire mode seems to own, though none of the starter guns have that from what I could tell. The starter sniper is atrocious. Semi auto, takes like 3 shots to kill. Yet every time I come in contact with a sniper they own me in 1 shot seemingly. So either the second sniper unlock is pretty good or I'm just unlucky.

Can't really speak much on attachments/equipment/perks as of yet. Only unlocked one attachment. A Holographic scope for the Marine's starting support gun. I like it. Owned like 3 people in a row using it with single fire. Thought to myself, "It's ****ing over now folks" Sadly, that was a fluke lol... The second unlock you get for ranking up after the shotgun, is a perk that allows you to sprint faster. That's as far as I got. ranking up. Of course, you can also rank up classes. 3 of the 4 starting class rank ups reward you with a new weapon. Medic/Assault rewards you with a defibrillator to revive teammates. Pretty sure the first unlock for Engineer is a Stinger or Javelin, can't remember which. They start off with a SMAW and repair tool. Medic/Assault starts off with med kits. Support starts off with ammo packs. Snipers don't start off with any equipment. A few of the guns start off with tripod attachments. You don't need to be prone to use it. If there's an object eye level with you while standing/crouched, you can set it up there.

So yea there you have it. Haven't played it too much, so plan on playing it some more tonight. Like I said, no vehicles on this map. This was the same exact map and game mode as the Alpha Testing I had access too. They did have an LAV-25 on the Alpha. People have complained about not having it, so it very well could make it's way back for the actual game. Either way, doesn't really make that much of a difference since most of the map takes place underground in a metro station, in CQC.

More on the map. It starts off in a large, open park like area with a lake to the side. This part favors the attackers. It's not too difficult to flank here. Not too difficult to defend the M-COMs after you set explosives either. Of course, it all really depends on how many people are being useless by trying to land easy kills on this open part of the map with snipers. The second and third parts take place underground, in the metro stations. Mostly close quarters combat here, but there is some long range fighting that occurs, most notably on the tracks. I'd say it's pretty even here in terms of advantage. Really depends on the teams. The M-COMs are in tight areas, so easier to defend. However, if the attackers are able to get a squad in there and plant the bombs, it could prove very difficult for the defenders to be able to get in there and defuse. The final part of the map takes place outside, but not as open as the beginning. To be quite honest, I really can't explain what goes on here. Only got here twice, and ran around like a chicken with its head cut off both times. I do know there's several buildings on the attackers side that they can snipe from. They seem to be facing the direction of the M-COMs. All I know is I wandered into one of these buildings and was greeted by like 5 of the enemy team the first time on this part of the map, while I got sniped several times from some ****bag the second time.

^ that pretty much sums it up for me and my experience. Playing on PS3. I will say I'm not very impressed with the graphx and just hope they have a lot of stuff turned down for beta purposes. I'm not enjoying the cartoony feel to the rendering. Too much highlighting and not enough depth. But that has to be due to the Beta, no? I don't mind the map that we were playing, it's nice and large and you're not getting spawn killed... yet. Only up to level two but that's because I suck / lag to death. You know you're lagging if you come around the corner and die before your shooter sees you and you see them.

Well I hope to get my hands on the Beta tomorrow and give it a whirl. I do remember the Battlefield: Bad Company 2 beta having scaled down graphics (it was really bright too) and quite a different weapon interface and control scheme. Hopefully they get it figured out because you guys have raised some concerns, luckily it is still in beta stage.

PC will be the way to fully experience BF3 , gonna have to upgrade this fecker to make it worthwhile though.

From what ive seen the 360 version looks terrible , not seen the PS3 one yet but my m8 had the beta for 360 and it looks like my PC games looked 3 years ago.

The PS3 version looks better, though they're masking lower quality textures with increased special effects.

A bud of mine played beta last night, and gave it 8/10. I didn't really have time to question about it, but he said it's pretty much a better version of BC2.
And the sky is blue, I know :))) Sking will tell us more )))

Well, turns out I'm not so bad after all. Have owned people today. Didn't hurt that for like 5 games everyone in my squad was competent and finished at the top of our team's leaderboard. I'm loving the Medic/Assault class for attacking. The ACOG is working great for me. And that includes single fire which apparently owns with it. On the last part of the map, hopped into a building and went all the way up. Put on single fire and was raping everyone down below with my M16A3. I've been using the recon class on defense, and I have to say, the starting sniper isn't as bad as I first believed. Been doing pretty good with it. Also, I was wrong about recons not starting out with equipment. They start out with a mobile respawn that you can lay down for your squad to be able to spawn to. Pretty handy actually. One more thing, you rack up a **** ton of points as a squad leader as long as you mark which M-COM station to destroy/defend. Every time your squad gets a kill defending/attacking or successfully defuses/sets explosive at that M- you get points for it also. Not all squad leader features are in the beta unfortunately. Squad leaders can call in artillery, and either that's not in the beta, or I haven't found out how...

Hmm, won't help me. I cant stand Rush. I only play conquest. So I guess I will have to tell my squadies what sites to attack and defend. I do that in BC2, but it isn't many points, like 50 or so each time.

Point your x-hairs at an mcomm station or attack objective and press Q on cpu (or the button on your controller to spot enemies) to either give the attack or defend order.

Been playing the Beta on ps3. Took me a while to get used to it. It's so much different than CoD. I do like that there's not as big a difference in the guns, as CoD was pretty frustrating in the sense that you could fire on someone a split second earlier than them but could still be killed if their gun was much better. Unless they're using a shotgun at close range, this doesn't appear to be the case with BF.

There's still a **** ton of Snipers though. God that's annoying. I wish they'd eliminate sniping and rocket launchers altogether from these types of games.

Snipers are supposed to be playing a recon role. Sadly, you're not going to find too many people doing that on consoles. As for the Rocket Launchers, need those to pwn tanks and ****.

Maybe I just don't get this game. Downloaded the Beta last night on 360 and hated it.

Poor graphics, choppy gameplay, couldn't tell who was winning or losing, screen load out was complicated, couldn't get the hang of switching guns and **** before respawning, etc.

Maybe I'm not giving it much of a chance, but I think I'll stick to Call of Duty.

My sentiments exactly after I played it last night. Couldn't see the enemy quickly enough or just got sniped after spawning. Will give it another go tonight but looks like I might just stick with CoD.

I was having some serious fun last night. I've worked my way up to the second sniper rifle on the russian side. Bolt action. And you essentially zoom out every time it loads a bullet, not a big fan considering I like sniping. Although I think if you hit them right, you can take em out with one shot. Don't believe you can do that with the first rifle.

Yeah, 15 minutes was enough for me. If I were younger I'd give it more of a chance, but these days I only have time for one or the other, and Call of Duty is the multiplayer shooter for me. With a little Gears and Halo on the side.

MonstBlitz on both Xbox360 and PS3.

I don't question that this beta has done nothing really positive for the game but I still question the magnitude of the beta as a failure.

From a lot of the criticism I have read people understand that the beta is an old build and not an accurate representation of the final game. Much of the criticism lies, as Desides posted, in that EA/Dice would release such a poor beta. While I agree with the criticism aimed at EA/Dice for releasing a beta that is outdated (it's simply poor business tactics), I also think that people need to calm down and realize it is just a beta. I'd go so far as to ask, "Will anyone even remember this beta if a demo running the current build is released?"--assuming the current build is an improvement of course. For instance does anyone remember the Bad Company 2 beta?

My basic point is that EA/DICE have went all in with this game and dropped the ball with the beta, which is obviously not something you want to do when Modern Warfare 3 is lurking. However, I think the effect of this beta isn't as great as some of the gaming sites/blogs want to make it. I agree that the beta may turn some people off to the game (hence EA/Dice's poor business move) but I don't think the beta will have a sizable effect. Demos and reviews have a way of making people forget about betas but in the end word of mouth and actually trying the game out trumps all.
