Will Ross be willing to think outside the box?

How does anybody expect this guy to hit the hole recklessly after a neck injury?

Besides, a back is not the answer. Fix the OL so you can send Reggie out to catch passes instead of keeping him back on max protect because the line sucks.

Don't know to much about him, but he didn't impress in the short time here.

EDIT: My bad, misread the question of which available...

I really do love Jon Gruden as our next coach. I would be very interested in seeing what he has learned from his sabotical from and X's and O's standpoint as well handling personnel. I do think he's our best bet. If not for the tuck rule, the guy probably would have two superbowl wins. I'm not completely sure about him as a personnel guy though. I'd like him to partner up with someone with a good track record of evaluating talent. Lots of Green Bay names have been floating around this board lately... Can't say I would be against having them.

Rex may have a winning record vs BB, but he is also 1-3 vs Tony Sparano.

As it is, Ross can't think INSIDE the box, so the answer is no, he won't be able to think outside the box.

Seriously, Trestman would be a guy I could get behind. He might be attractive to Ross, being a former UM guy and was with the Fins for a season or so...I don't know much about how he's done though...

I did edit my post because I didn't read "available" in the original question. However, to your point, I think that's more of the case of styles make fights, to use a boxing analogy. Both teams were (I believe they'll sweep us this year) using a similar philosophy on offense and defense. As a result, it was talent vs. talent, which I also stated Miami has plenty more of.

Seeing as Miami has lost it's identity on offense, and the defense can no longer stop a nose bleed when it matters, Coach Ryan is about be 3-3 vs. Sparano. If TS makes it to our 1st or 2nd matchup.

That in itself would be a refreshing change.

Marc Trestman's wiki page is interesting. Every time he goes to a team, the offense is clearly better. More impressive, is you see names like Bernie Kosar, Scott Mitchell, and Jake PLummer all doing work under his offense.

Interesting, looking at his resume / timeline, he was completely out of coaching after the 91 season until he resurfaced again as the 49ers OC in 1995. Out of coaching for three years, Seifert wins the Super Bowl with the 49ers in the 1994 season, OC Mike Shanahan moves onto coach the Broncos and then Seifert hires Trestman as the OC. Boom, just like that. That says a lot.

And of course the elephant in the room being, why has he been to so many different places over the years? Why can't he hold a job?

Would Jeff Fisher be out of the box? He did quite a bit without great talent in Tennessee. Always seemed to put together a competent defense and that continues past his coaching now with Schwartz.

I think Jeff Fisher would go into the name category at this point.
