You are right. "First Round" we were talking Number 1 over all. I believe we can get a qb in the first round be it this year or next and still get a bowl by 2020. I dont think we need Luck to do that.....

I love Dt and he is going to be amazing for years to come but him not playing may force them to go back to the offensive gameplan they had against the pats in the first half before they got tired. Spread it out and get the ball to the play makers. Henne throws 40+ times and Bush will have 10 catches for over 100 yards. We win going away 30 - 17

I actually see him as our Ray Rice. He catches well and runs hard and you can put the load on him. Hamstrings are going to happen t a lot of people this year. If we can get Bush to have a break out year maybe we can trade him next year. I dont think we will need him once DT is established.

Hey Socks, I'm not defending Sparano by any means. Tony is the missing caramel in my sundae example. We could turn it around and have a great season, but that doesn't mean I'd be satisfied with the way we look.

I want to win and have appropriate actions taken at the end of the season. If we turn it around but Sparano doesn't continue evolving and developing, then I want him gone. If he can turn this sloppy mess around and get this team motivated and playing well on the same page, then I'll definitely take notice b/c he is a young coach and he isn't opposed to evolving or adapting. Personally, I'd rather have a coach who doesn't need to evolve and adapt b/c his mentality and coaching philosophy is already exactly where it needs to be.

Atlanta players are saying that Ryan could be more effective if not under so much pressure?

    Ryan's been sacked 13 times. Henne-- 11.

    Blitzed
Matt: 26 times with an 80.5 QBR.
    Chad: 35 times with a 99.2 QBR.

    Under pressure
    Ryan: 21 times; 39.0 QBR, 1 INT, 0 TD.
    Henne: 22 times; 57.2 QBR, 1 TD, 1 INT.

    rushing
Ryan: 5 times, 18 yards, 1 first down, 0 TD.
Henne: 14 times, 111 yards, 7 first downs, 1 TD.

Henne and Ryan have been blitzed & pressured equally, but Henne has been more efficient.
Chad's also turned those pressures into 6 more first downs and 84 more yards. (excluding the QB draw for a TD)

I can't remember who or what topic it was in, but not to long ago Bellicheck was brought up. My only thought that I could articulate quickly and not being long winded is Maybe there is a learning curve with Sparano too. How long has he been a head coach.....exactly 4 years he has been here. Even Bellicheck was somewhere else before he came to the Patriots and the Browns sucked. Sparano too will get there.

It is a building process. I think he can and will do it if given enough time. From where this team was 1-15 to being able to at least have a chance to win, and we do have a legitimate chance to win every single time we take the field, he has done well. I am not saying he is coach of the decade...but he literally has had to completely take this team apart and put it back together again. That is no easy task. From a draft standpoint he has done fair to mediocre. Don't know if I would lay that blame on him as much as I would on Ireland and our scouting staff. Don't get me wrong, he is ultimately responsible. All I am saying as he took on a massive undertaking and was abandoned not only by the Tuna but the freaking owner sold the team.

Not to throw Henne under the bus, but all of a sudden the guy shows a little promise and some are saying he is it. I think we should stick with him. Thomas will eat people up. Not sure exactly what all the other idiocy's are but that is for the coaches to figure out and tweak. Much like Henne, Sparano has shown some promise. He deserves the benefit of the doubt.

    Lets go Dolphins!!!!!!!!

Have you seen our team in the playoffs since we started Henne? I don't see the issue with a Qb being good with good players around him, thats kind of a silly argument that he plays well when others around him play well. You could be critical of every player in the HOF if you make that argument.

I am numb to whatever happens to this team. This regime has sucked the fight out of me. I just want them gone.

Socks, I understand what you're saying. I'm also one of those who has been beating the drum for consistency at Head Coach. Since Wannstadt's resignation, our teams has had 4 Head Coaches, Interim Jim Bates, Nick Saban, Cam Cameron and Tony Sparano. No consistency there at all. But even more telling is the coaching staff that literally runs the team's units. There's been no consistency at the offensive coordinator nor defensive coordinator positions. Since 2003...

    Offensive Coordinator / Defensive Coordinator
2003: Norv Turner - Jim Bates (Wannstadt's last full season as HC)
2004: Chris Foerster - Jim Bates (Wannstadt / Bates HC)
2005: Scott Linehan - Richard Smith (Nick Saban HC)
2006: Mike Mularky - Dom Capers
2007: Cam Cameron - Dom Capers (Cam Cameron HC)
2008: Dan Henning - Paul Pasqualoni (Tony Sparano HC)
2009: Dan Henning - Paul Pasqualoni
2010: Dan Henning - Mike Nolan
2011: Brian Daboll - Mike Nolan

Yes for the last 8 years, our team has been a coachinig fiasco with head coaches coming and going, coordinators coming and going...three general managers (Spielman, Mueller, Ireland), the management of our team has been a mess so I too like you are looking for consistency, but unless Sparano seriously turns things around right quick and in a hurry, to me 2008 was just a fluke. The Dolphins have started 0-3 (dancing on the doorstep of 0-4) this season. Under Sparano, the Dolphins have been 7-9 for the last two seasons. I just don't see the noticable improvement worthy of keeping Sparano around unless some MIRACLE happens in which the Dolphins somehow become a juggernaut, annhilating teams the rest of the season.

Some mention the Lions and how they've turned things around in Detroit. Yes they have, but didn't do so until there was a cleaning house from the top down. Some of Detroit's current roster date back to Matt Millen's control of the team. They had talent, just the wrong people at the helm of the ship.

That's become my opinion of the Dolphins. A powerful misguided ship with the wrong people at the helm guiding it.

Nice optimism, I wish I shared it. Until our new HC is here, I frankly expect to lose pretty much every game we play. Pardon me, I'm going to go now and shoot myself.

I too, believe the potential is there, that this team is ripe for a win, and that most of the fandom is already envisioning 0-4. That's why I also cringed to see your guarantee, because despite the benefit of seeing a quality poster step out from the shadows to enrich this forum with thoughtful opinion, particularly of the optimistic shade, you've given the heinous abomination that torments this team of lost souls, and lost opportunity, an agenda.
By rationally stating your very sensible reasons, why this team is destined to win this weekend, you may have only propelled it to fail in any yet conceived way, contrary to those otherwise plausible prognostications.

We can't go any lower? Make no mistake, this team has shown amazing resilience, and innovation in how its mechanics break down, and remains poised to reach far greater depths of hapless blunder.:yinyang:

Sparano too is guilty of changing coaches. Henning is gone, Pasqualoni is gone, bring in Mike Nolan and Brian Daboll and change the offense and defense. Several assistants are also gone. 2008 was a fluke....called the wild cat. I think 2008 was the worse thing Sparano could have done to himself because he gave us a taste of victory and what could be. He set the bar very high for him self, especially with the fans. Had 2008 not occurred, our conversation would be much different. How much of those coaching changes were a result of fan noise....all of them.

I don't blame people for being mad. Sometimes though you have to put that aside until you are thinking clearly. We were 1-15, then 7-9 then 11-5 then 7-9, now 0-3. What makes anyone think we are any good.....the one 11-5 season. This is a rebuild. A total rebuild. Not only the starters but the depth as well. That takes years, and consistent coaches and systems. We could very easily rebound and end up 8-8. Is 8-8 respectable, sure. Not what I want, but we are getting better. The job of building this team is a tough job and not having our support only makes it harder. Tony Sparano showed us a glimpse of what he is capable of in 2008. He is in his 4th year as a head coach. He too is learning, adjusting and growing as a person and coach. I support him 100%. I love the dolphins and never want them to loose. Once Sparano & company are done assembling the core of our team and the systems that are relatively new, like our 6 week old defense, we will be a better team. How many games we are going to win......well, .......that's why they play the game. Remember the lockout, both Daboll and Nolan have had very little time because of it. I am not trying to make excuses ...it is what it is.

    Lets go Dolphins!!!!

Wait a minit, you just said we were the winning team in history because of a 1st rnd QB. Then you go on to say that if we change again we're further exacerbating our problems?

You must have misread or maybe I misspoke. Please let me explain. We Were the winning-est team in all of sports history. Up until sometime in the late 1990's. It was not all Marino's doing either. It was Don Shula's. A couch we stuck with regardless of some of the bad seasons and there were a few. The consistency at coaching is what made this team who we were.

We absolutely are exacerbating our problems by having a revolving door at Head Coach. A system is a system. When we (coaches, owner) brought in Daboll and Nolan I knew it would take 2 or 3 years to get "His" system in place where everything is runnable, blocking assignments are understood, pass schemes, etc.

Chad Henne: There is a huge learning curve for Chad Henne. Daboll has done a great job at bringing Henne along so far and we have seen a marked improvement in Henne's performance. Henne has all the tools to be a very good QB. Henne will continue to get better and will become a very good QB. The only way that happens is if he is given playing time to allow him to actually play at full speed so that he can improvise and make check downs etc. It is not only Henne it is the whole team. Henne has now learned 3 different schemes in 4 years. The original offensive scheme Tony brought in and then abandoned for the wild cat (Tuna Fish Scheme) and now Daboll's offense. Really this is a testament to how smart Chad Henne is. It also shows the amount of work he has put in to get where he is........it is tremendous!!!! We already know Chad has a cannon for a arm. As Chad puts together the other intangibles which he does posses he will be what we are looking for and may just be that franchise guy everyone seems to covet.

Offensive line/Defense Our offensive line does not suck.....the scheme has changed and they are having trouble picking it up and jelling as a unit. They will also improve with game time. It is much more complicated then it was back in the day. Same applies here for these units.....3rd scheme in 4 years. Defenses have so many stunts and coverage changes on the fly that it is impossible for any team to go thru what they have been thru and be all world within 3 games. Defensive back field will also improve as game time adjustment and learning how and when to roll coverages to maximize our strengths not expose our weakness' is learned. Linebacker support will also improve and Wake will again become the beast he was.

Now if after another year or so we change again and bring in new coaches with new schemes Henne and the entire team will regress again, another 3 or 4 years. Sad really because Henne may go down in history as a mediocre QB who was mediocre by no fault of his own......mediocre by circumstance.

I have quickly clarified my thoughts and all I can say is there is a reason Sparano was given a 3 year extension last year. If we improve noticably he will be extended again which I for one am hopeful for.....................
