In which case, an elite QB improves your chances, eh?

"utterly destroy"? What a ridiculous statement. With the rookie salary cap, what about drafting Andrew Luck would "utterly destroy" this franchise? Because we're so ****ing awesome right now at 0-4? Honestly this loser mentality of "A QB might bust, so there's no point in drafting one" is completely ****ing ridiculous. You think the Lions, Falcons or even Rams regret taking a risk by drafting their QBs? Any player at any position can be a bust. It doesn't mean you don't keep trying until you get it right.

When are some of you fans going to get sick of defending this franchise's complete and total ineptitude and ignorance regarding the most important position on the football field?

So you mean it can get worse than it is right now?

Worse than when we were 1-15 just a few years ago?

Worse than 1 playoff win in the last 10 years?

Worse than 19 years since our last AFCCG appearance?

Worse than almost 39 years since we last won a Super Bowl?

WAIT....it can get worse by taking a chance on Luck being the franchise QB we have been longing for since Marino retired?

I think the anti-Luck people have a fear that because some #1 QBs have been busts that the one we take will be a bust. We're kind of like battered wives. We keep thinking that even though we're subjected to the same abuse year over year, things will magically get better even when there's nothing done to change anything.

You don't understand. I'm not suggesting Luck is going to be a bad player, or we shouldn't pick a quarterback high in the draft. I'm suggesting that Andrew Luck is a prospect, not your Lord and Saviour. "Sucking" for him is totally irresponsible, because it is possible he misses. It is possible that the absolute right choice coming out of the evaluation process is to not draft Luck #1 overall. If you miss on a quarterback, you are handcuffed to that quarterback for several years. That is what can destroy a franchise.

I can agree with you that it's wrong for an NFL team to deliberately lose games for ethical reasons and the reason you mention. But I don't think there is anything wrong with fans cheering for it. This is the position we have been put in with a decade plus of our favorite team half assedly addressing or completely ignoring the position of QB. I can't blame anyone for cheering for the best chance of potentially solving that problem for a long time.

And fact remains that missing on a QB does not "utterly destroy" a franchise. Especially now. If you miss, you move on and try again. Raiders are actually doing ok, even after the Jamarcus Russell fiasco.

Hypothetical Question: Would you knowingly choose to go 0-16 to get Andrew Luck?

I am not asking if you would want to intentionally lose all 16 games to get Luck, but rather if you would be ok with going 0-16 to get Andrew Luck. No team has ever gone 0-16 and we certainly have the talent to win a handful of games, but with all that being said I would do it. We could then say that we are the only team to go undefeated and winless in a season. Once we get Luck I don't think it would be long before we are a playoff team year in and year out... Man it sure is cool looking at Detriot now after all the crappy years they have had. I want what they have.

So bottom line, would you be willing to swallow your pride go 0-16 and get Andrew Luck and still be happy? I would.

    Hell yes.

Also, the Lions went 0-16 a few years ago and wound up with Matt Stafford. You think they'd trade places with us?

By the way, did anyone see Andrew Luck's one handed catch? Apparently he can play more than QB.

Absolutely, this team is going nowhere without a franchise QB and better overall talent. Sometimes you have to be bad before you can be good. So now is the time for the Dolphins to be awful, in hopes that they can be great in the future.

I'm not sure how to answer this (knowingly choose?). I would never purposefully lose, but if we did lose 16 then I would look for the bright side and that would be Luck and some decent talent to put around him. The dark side would be infamy and possibly a coaching staff and front office that I don't fully trust to use Luck and the rest of that talent to it's fullest.

Not to say Luck isn't worth the #1 pick or that you pass him up, but Tom Brady has traditionally had one of the best pass blocking lines in the NFL. He is rarerly hit. Peyton Manning almost never gets hit. He calls the play at the line that will have the least chance of putting him on his *** based on the scheme the defense appears to be running.

Stafford is elite but as you can see, a shotty O Line can get any QB killed. Your statements are plain wrong.

Now, all that being said, we still have 2 very big pieces and two more via draft or FA will make this line good enough to keep Luck on his feet.

They made a damn commercial about Brady's o-line "protecting" him in an everyday setting.

There is absolutely no freaking way I would rape someone for 10 million bucks! I would not need one second to even think about it...

Yup. It's not that embarrassing now that the Lions have already been there. And look at their reward. Remember when we used to have a QB who could engineer dramatic 4th quarter victories?

IF we get first rnd first pick and we dont get a QB especially Luck then whoever makes that decision needs to be flippin burgers. Long is awesome and I think hes worth the money and pick but Matt Ryan was a far better choice and we are now suffering still for that decision.
