I don't see it. That team looks like it really wants to play hard for the guy. If anything I think they take a look at Nick Foles and use that high pick to get a few players across the board in trade downs, perhaps for Robert Griffin III if he goes that high. I think they want to have a run with Peyton.
I think the bigger question is, do opposing teams tank against contenders for the #1 pick, just to keep Luck out of their division? Do the Bills, Patriots, and Jets all throw their games against us in weeks 15, 16, and 17? Why wouldn't they, if it has no playoff implications? Why would they want Andrew Luck in their division???????
It's possible we could see Brian Hoyer in week 16, or Brunell in week 17. And that would be fine too.
That's ridiculous. Congrats. Clearly all three teams will have such huge margins with no playoff implications that they will magically let Miami walk into victories. Miami might pull off an upset (I don't want them to). The Pats had no reason to play us in week 17 and they flat out throttled Miami. Are the Bills going to go 13-3, the Jets 12-4, and the Pats 15-1 and all say, WHAT?!!! Luck to the Dolphins. **** that ****!
How is it ridiculous? Its very reasonable to believe that NE will have a playoff spot locked up by week 16. Its also reasonable to believe that Buffalo and NYJ could both be eliminated from playoff contention. We're not talking about games in the middle of the season, these are the last three weeks of the season. If all that is the case, why would they want to win??? Wouldn't it be in their best interest (long-term of course) to ensure they don't have to be in the same division as Andrew Luck for the next 15 years? Even assuming that they aren't eliminated, would you trade making the playoffs and losing in the first-round, to prevent the greatest QB prospect of all time from tearing up your defense for 15 years????? Would it be worth it in the long-term for NE to trade home field advantage in the first round for preventing Andrew Luck coming to Miami???
There is nothing sarcastic at all. We are discussing possible scenarios in which teams have the goal of getting the #1 draft choice. If a team is intentionally trying to lose, then the next logical counter would be to try to deny that team their goal.
I can't believe I'm looking up college QBs in week 5 of the regular NFL season. That's usually what I do during Christmas break.
http://miamiherald.typepad.com/dolp...henne-seeking-second-opinion-on-shoulder.html Henne seeking second opinion. If second doctor recommends surgery Henne is likely to miss "significant" time, perhaps the season. If no surgery is required Henne could possibly be back by the Denver game depending on pain tolerance and how effective he could be with some kind of stabilization of his shoulder. The team is not actually sending Henne to see this doctor mind you. They have simply FedEx'd the x-rays. Suck for Luck.
How does Garrard give them a better chance to win? If Garrard was good enough he would be on a roster right now. You don't think the Colts, Seattle, or any team in need ot a quality back up wouldn't sign him given the chance? There is a reason Garrard isn't signed right now and it isn't because teams just don't want him. A player that can help you win is available, you go out and get him.
The Colts are starting Curtis Painter, they've got a leg up on us in the preemptively throwing it all away race.
He's coming out. He's getting his degree which was the reason he went back in the first place. Also he's not a partier and has a serious girlfriend so it's not like he wants another year to sow his wild oats.
Well, what do you think the reason was? I take him and his father at their words that he wanted to get his degree.
I have no idea. I merely find it odd that a 21 year old kid would put academic vanity over a 20 million dollar paycheck.
If he doesn't party, then getting his degree after going to the NFL isn't really all that difficult. I think the main reason was most likely the labor issues.
I wonder if Elway has already started some sort of lobbying for the player, I think the broncos are one of the teams that is in prime position to draft luck, no QB on their team that they believe in, a huge Elway/Stanford connection, and an 0 and 4 record... I think as this season goes down there might actually be some shadiness goings on.
Damn sucks for Henne but moves us closer to getting the number 1 pick and nabbing ANDREW ****ING LUCK!
I just didnt think the "hit" or "impact with the ground" should have resulted in season ending in any stretch of the imagination on that specific play. Crazy!
my bad, but that team scares me if Iam thinking about Luck..I don't trust Elway and Bowlen..First year head coach with no pressure to win either.
Well Henne gave us the best chance at winning at QB so having Moore behind center gives us a better chance at Luck.
Henne said something along the lines of "I'll rip my arm off if It means I can play in 2 weeks" Honestly? I think a video of him doing just that would be more exciting than watching this team play.
