"Dolphin Tale" is a new movie about a dolphin who loses it's tail, and is helped to recover by an artificial tail. It was #1 this past weekend. It is unfortunate to say that the football team's version also lost it's collective tail on Sunday, with little if any chance of recovery. Sorry for this comment but, in the words of Doc Holliday, my hypocracy only goes so far. I've been doing this thread for over a year, and this week is more difficult than any before it. Regardless, here we go. Dan Carpenter hit all 3 FGs, one a 51 yarder. He appears to be back. Mike Pouncey again played well, and could be a Pro Bowl player for years to come. Charles Clay chimed in with 2 catches, one for 31 yards. I'd like to see more. He may be the 2nd TE answer. Odrick has 2 tackles, one for loss, and looked good. IGOR also had a TFL, and is a Manster. Gotta keep him around for his name alone. "Starvin Marvin Mitchell" had 4 tackles and a sack. He is looking pretty good. "Little Jimmy Wilson" defended a pass in limited action. It was one of two for the team. Paul Soliai also defended a pass (his only stat), for the other one. Perhaps we have him playing out of position. That's all I got. Anyone else?
Thank god we have a bye week. I'm not usually a fan of early season byes, but I think that this team needs it this week.
Shouldn't the Dolphins Good News Network focus on how the Dolphins are in the Top 3 (until tonight) in the running for Andrew Luck?
you knw its going to be the "suck for trading away the pick for Luck" sweepstakes, if we keep Ireland.
Because there is so little to talk about, let's add in the quarterly report. Last draft is looking VG so far. Pouncey and DT have shown that they belong. Gates and Clay? We shall see but, look to have the potential to be keepers. And then there is Little Jimmy Wilson. Who can possibly dislike this 7th round pick? Aside from the new guys, Fields, Henne and Starks seem to be the only ones who have improved.
Good news, lets see.... I'm not that pissed off following a loss? Thats a good thing right? Hooray Apathy!
Another great edition of DGNN although I must admit you really have to work harder every week polish the terd Miami leaves on the field.
I thought Reggie Bush did well yesterday, ditto Hartline. OL looked much improved, thought the sacks were mostly of the coverage variety. The best news, for me, is we get DTrain, VD and Misi back for the Jest game.
Ireland is taking a lot of heat, but this past draft was his first REAL draft where he had full control. He did a good job it looks like.......
I honestly did not think this was possible, SB. You just never disappoint, unlike this team. I commend you sir.
Thanks Dan, I look forward to a much longer OP sometime very soon. This thread has become a whole lot more challenging than I imagined it would.
It's every early to judge but, Pouncey, DT. and Wilson have all looked VG. I'm waiting for Gates to break out, and can see it coming. Clay is the sleeper here.
Marlon Moore gave me my only smile of the day when he made a good tackle and launched himself off the ground after the tackle, all in one motion. That kid wants to play!
I just saw that while watching the replay. Hell of a play, and some FRACKIN EMOTION to boot. Thanks for adding it.
No good news there Dupree, aside from "Starvin Marvin Mitchell." He is some fun to watch. I can see why Saints fans were sorry to see him go.
I agree. I wouldn't mind keeping Ireland. Saprano has to go. But Ireland hasn't done a bad job at all, IMO
Great post SB. With the playoffs pretty much out of the question I'll be watching to see who improves and how the young players develop over the course of the season. Pouncey, Thomas, Gates, Clay, Odrick, Misi, Davis, Smith & Clemons mostly. Soliai, Wake, Langford and Smith will be looking for new deals, let's see if they play like it. I'd like to see Jerry get some time on the line, Garner too. Carey and Columbo are not long for this roster. If Henne's healthy enough to play then his continued development is worth watching as well.
I was thinking we trade that 1st for a third, second, fifth and special teams "ace" of a linebacker. Then use the acquired later 1st and 3rd to acquire a slightly higher 3rd and conditional 5th for a later year's draft. In the second round, just before making our selection we trade that for another later third round pick and two seventh round picks. Boom, just like that, not one, not two, but THREE seventh round selections. Before that, we use the remaining first to get back into the second round. Mastermind. Of course, the only reason we do this is because Irish is sorely disappointed at the discovery that Andrew Luck is an immature primadonna who gets easily rattled when an adult in a professional position calls his mother a street-walker. So, after clever mind-tests we deduce that Luck just isn't franchise material. So, with the 58th overall pick in the 2012 NFL draft, the Miami Dolphins select: Billy Itdontmattah, Offensive Guard out of Wossamotta University.
I honestly think he should steal some snaps from Burnett, not replace him outright, but he should be in the game more.
You are saying the Dolphins did something right? Banish such thoughts from your head. This is now only the ***** snivel and whine forum and hope we lose out to be sure we get the greatest QB ever to lace up a pair of cleats, who will surely lead the team on a 35 game winning streak and 5 Super Bowl titles in a row. Positive comments about any current team member are no longer allowed.
Well Mr C, I cannot blame them for substituting Suck for Luck for the pain of this season to this point, we have forever been looking for the light at the end of the tunnel and he appears to be it. As for me, as poker legend Scottie Nguyen has said "I'm a threat to win a poker game with even one chip" I'd prefer to see the talent we do have show itself so we do not face a utter rebuild, that would mean 2 more yrs of terrible football before we could challenge for anything.
I just took a look at PFF's ST's. Mitchell has 2 tackles but, did miss one. Somewhat surprisingly, Clemons and Hartline also have 2. Marlon Moore is tied for 4th in the NFL for his play in the 4 games, and has 3 tackles. He is MUCH better than last year when he only had 1 tackle. Your Welcome Padre. A few other notes from PFF. Soliai played his first good game. Odrick has 5 pressures in limited play, and is moving up their rankings. Merling also had his first good game. No time to look up everyone.
I refrained from throwing, breaking or otherwise damaging anything. Mostly because by the time the 2nd half rolled around, I was pretty drunk and had reached the point where I had a case of I don't give a ****.
