Damn, sucks for Henne. I've been a critic of his, but certainly did not want his dolphins tenure to end like this. Hope he gets a shot somewhere else next year. As for the Fins, it's truly time to move on. Forget Garrard. Just sign Sage rosenfels or some other thrid string type. Suck for Luck is now a reality my friends. Whether you like it or not, the train has left the station
I would sign a Rosenfels type and promote Devlin to the roster. Signing a veteran off the street is going to be no more successful than Moore in this offense. The season is over. Draft position is the only thing that matters now
The Starting offensive line, your head coach's focus, got your QB Shelved. It's time for a housecleaning. Top to bottom.
I hope he returns as a back-up (assuming we draft a QB in the first round, which we should), but if he went elsewhere to compete for a starting job... I'd understand. Luck and Gruden are my top choices for 2012... I just hope the roster isn't completely torn apart in the offseason because we have some nice pieces to the puzzle.
If we get Luck and get scheduled to play at SD next year, I'm not even putting him on the damn plane.
Dear Chad Henne, Looks like you've played your last game as a Miami Dolphin. Thanks for your effort. You always seemed like a hard worker and you played with class. Thanks for that come from behind game against the Pats a few years ago. That was a fun game. You really nailed those throws to win the game. I'm truly sorry it didn't work out. Best of luck to you with whatever team you play with next year.----Gardenhead
Coming off a shoulder injury, it may be his best option. And Luck isn't a Dolphin yet... don't get ahead of yourself.
LOL But in all seriousness it's probably time for a divorce. Henne will make a very nice living as backup for a long time and maybe get another shot due to injury. Best of luck to him. Nothing personal at all against the guy
Phew. I did realize that we get the NFC West again next year. Could a Luck/Cowher combo have a 2008 like turnaround in them?
Chad Henne has my ultimate respect. Dude was hellbent on playing thru 'that' injury for 'this' team. This terrible a team. Apparently took three separate opinions for him to submit to surgery. That's how much this dude cares.
Nah, we have a good chance to not improve at all and be in the Luck sweepstakes all year...In 2007 we were just good enough to be in just about every game and show that we were a bit better than our record indicated, in a word, we were unlucky...we all had hopes each week that year that the team would wake up and some of the luck (no pun intended) would come our way and produce a win...
I agree Muck, but for most fans, they'll only think of him as a loser...even tho he didn't warrant it...
Good call... According to Adam Schefter via Twitter: "With Chad Henne done for season, Dolphins now plan to sign former Giants QB Sage Rosenfels."
I feel really bad for him. Rightly or wrongly, this decision to have surgery probably makes him a backup in the NFL. Any team that acquires him in free agency, they're not going to make him THE guy. It'll always be a team that either has an established starter, or at best a young hot shot they like a lot that they will inevitably get elevated to starter in order to "see what he has". Henne is a very tough dude. He would have played with his shouler torn to shreds if he could have. I wish him the best. I see him as like an Alex Smith.
And our old answers continue becoming our new answers. SMH. I think this shows Stephen Ross isn't willing to pay a bunch of money in order to try and win more games in this awful season. Can you blame him? Polls show that only 18% of Dolphins fans want the team to win games.
I think you do both. You bring in a Sage Rosenfels AND put Devlin on your roster as the #3. This is an offensive line and offensive system that got Henne killed. He was getting hit at a rate 7 standard deviations outside the NFL norm. You don't survive that. A lot of that was on him for his aggressive, tough style...but not all of it. There's a significantly elevated chance that we suffer more injuries at this position.
At this point, Ross is doing what's best for the franchise's future by simply turning the cash spigot off for these guys. This season is lost. I'm sorry that Tony is now likely to be forced to captain the Titanic but it has to be done. Andrew Luck will revitalize this franchise and it's fanbase. I'm waffling on renewing my seats for next year right now. Get the #1 pick and I will absolutely buy them. We are going to be bottom 5 bad. I want "the guy". For this season to be worth anything I want "the guy"
Matt Moore is a statue and doesn;t even have Henne's limited mobility. We will be playing a 3rd QB before this season is done, I guarantee it
Matt Moore is a safer player than Chad Henne. He took only 6 hits in this game against the Chargers. That's still elevated, but it's not even close to the abuse Henne was taking.
My favorite memory of Sage Rosenfels when he was here in Miami was when he started Rent-a-Sage. He was the 3rd string QB and he started (for charity, in his defense) a service where you could pay him to appear at your parties or events and just hang out. It was hilarious. My roommate and I wrote to him and invited him to come to our apartment and play Madden with us. We offered to pay him with free pizza which we would buy, but it's BYOB. LOL. I guess he took a lot of heat for it and got all upset at the responses he was getting because he was trying to do it for charity and here people (like me) were being total ***** about it. Ah the memories. Welcome back, Lion of Judah.
