You don't think Josh Freeman, Jay Cutler, Tony Romo, Eli Manning, Sam Bradford, and Ryan Fitzpatrick are better than Chad Henne? You really think he's the 13th best QB in the league?
i don't care what TQBR's or what PFF ranks anyone as. the eye test is all that matters. he has heart. he seems like a standup guy. i wished he would have succeeded here. but facts are facts. from the 20to the 20 he is good. inside the 20, forget it. rankings and computers can tell you he's top 10, but 0-4 and overthrows in the red zone tell me all i need to know...and this is 3 years on going...this isn't new and it's a pattern...you either have it or don't...i'm afraid he doesn't
Chad Henne's QB rating of 79 is all the evidence fans needed that hated Henne to begin the season to say...see he sucks. Of course, they have to ignore the context. But the QB I see on field this year more reflect the 99.7 QB rating Henne would have if the 3 dropped TD passes by Marshall were added in as well as the 2 4th quarter interceptions were removed since both were forced (last play of game against NE and 4th and 10 against Cleveland)...no way Henne throws those in the regular course of the game. Obviously Henne doesn't care about his QB rating. When I look at the 2 other interceptions Henne threw one was when he got drilled by an unblocked blitzer against SD and the other was on a tipped ball. Henne has been extremely accurate with the ball this year. Considering how poor his protection has been this year he has been nothing short of terrific imo. There is a reason Henne is ranked #9 by Total QBR which takes into account every play and the "CONTEXT" which is why QB rating is misleading...QB rating does not take into account the CONTEXT. http://espn.go.com/nfl/story/_/id/7050006/nfl-week-4-total-qbr-season-leaders Of course, Total QBR was endorsed by Henne haters prior to the season b/c Henne's TQBR and QB rating were similar last year. However, since TQBR doesn't support their Henne sucks argument all that is referred to is QB rating. I heard even Marino wouldn't throw the ball up for grabs at the end of the game b/c doing so resulted in an interception that cost him a bonus. After that he made sure he threw the ball out of bounds.
I see no listing of the stats that show Henne is ranked 24th in the league in passing efficiency, and 28th in the league in completion percentage.... and one of the worst in the red zone and 3rd down conversions..... and..........
I can't discount the INTs, even when they are not Henne's fault. Other QBs get those INTs and it counts against their ratings. so to be fair, you can't cherry pick those. The dropped TDs are a valid point though.
Amazing factual analysis by the Henne fans. If you take away the bad plays and add more good plays he looks like he's a better QB. You guys should work for the government. If you add jobs and lower unemployment the economy will be better too. You guys are wizards.
I think all but Fizpatrick are. Him and Fitzpatrick are the same to me. Fitzpatrick is a system guy right now and has issues (footwork, decision making).
henne fans? lol so you admit your anti-henne wanting him to fail? and henne fans scewing stats as if haters dont portray their interpretations as fact? people need to get over themselves
I'm a Dolphins fan. I root for the logo on the front. I want an elite QB. I'm sick of wandering through the desert with mediocre QBs. The fact that Cam Newton, Ryan Fitzpatrick, and Matt Hasselbeck are outplaying him is a freaking embarrassment.
outplaying him cause receivers catch their passes? their lines block? their rbs listen for audibles? i agree get an elite qb at all cost? who is that? newton? sorry dont think car is giving him up. fitz? elite? nope. playing better? yes but has luxury of better oline in a system they played last year bradford? again # 1 overall not giving him up. sanchez? yeah right. all other non elites you are projecting in your mind that their play w their teams would be ths same here as if henne is our cause for dropps bad protection, mis reads and defense meltdowns. its a joke imo. easy to point at qb real answer to as simple we need to try for elite qb yes, henne next tier down, wont be elite i think most agree with that. but the fantasy that you could plug 20 qbs in our team and results would be diff is laughable, it is panic thinking. it appears u all get ur wish n see if putting a diff qb in solves all the ills. i can see it now we beat the jets 10 -3 on a def td and the talk will be see moore is bettr
Well, the writing is on the wall here. All we have to do is wait for the new regime, whoever that be and move on. It's likely that Henne would not be in the plans of any incoming coach/regime unless two things happen: 1) Ireland is retained and they choose a lesser known coach, one that won't want or need total control. And 2) Henne doesn't have to miss significant time (i.e. not put on IR) AND tears things up on his return for the remainder of the season. That could save him, but even that is unlikely to save Sparano, given that Ross was looking for his replacement last off season. This is going to be an interesting next few months for us. Based on what we've seen so far, nothing can save Sparano's job, even a resurgence. The team has underachieved so far, offense...defense...STs... Who is next ?? That will be on the minds of every fan for the remainder of the season, regardless of the outcome from here on out. Henne is going to be a casualty, just like Sparano and maybe to a lesser extent, Ireland...
Well put, Jmh....another fan who can't get past Dan Marino... When will folks wake up and realize that he's not coming back and we won't likely get a clone of him again. And Fitz...elite ?? I don't think so...good yes, improved yes, elite....meh... And Ck...sorry doesn't fly with me...if Marshall catches one or two of those drops, the W/L totals would be different and we'd be talking differently. If this lousy excuse for a D could hold the Texans for one drive, the Bolts for one drive and the Browns for one drive...many would be talking SB on these forums...which would be as big a stretch as accusing Henne for being the one thing that makes us lose games...
excuses? what excuses? that some dont blame everything on henne? judge each player consistently? ex saying marshall contributed to a loss because in the clutch he choked even tho early he made a great play? same as henne needs to be better in the redzone not just between the 20's? or is more correct to hold your elite player to less standards and your not elite qb to elite standards?
Well damn, who crowned you a genius? Everyone here brings something quality, in my opinion. Even though there are posters here that I don't always enjoy reading (mainly because of past run-ins with them), I still read their posts because they make good points and can be thought provoking. I am not one to tell someone what they should do and never will, but if I may recommend something, I recommend reading everyone's posts and not simply ignoring them. There is always more to learn. Cheers.
check threads from a week ago that suggested that very thing. henne didnt lose us any of our 4 losses, he didnt win them but then neither did anyone else, but to some thats besides the point, it's "if i cant blame henne, i wont blame anyone at all" syndrome. everyone can tell me how right they are, doesnt mean i buy it. either way its pointless hes done so you get ur wish. wonder what people would say if he succeeds elsewhere? you dont have to say henne sucks to want the team to draft a qb in 12. there has still been no answer to who we coud have had that was so much better than henne that would have succeeded in this situ? havent heard that one yet, just uh well henne sucks i am right its hennes fault we suck. news flash, outside big 5 we arent any better. too many other issues. henne was a factor, but not the bulk as some seem to want him to be
IF the defense wasn't complete dog**** this season we wouldn't be having this conversation, but I guess that is Henne's fault as well...
I don't think so, personally. I read posts on this board just like you do (I say that lightly), and I see substance. Its just not always articulated the same way I would, but if you dig deeper into your brain, I think you can find some quality.
Quite frankly, this Chad Henne thing is so over and I feel like it should be so obvious what he is, that I don't even really have any interest in arguing it anymore. Y'all can keep spinning your wheels all you want but it's not really worth my time and effort anymore.
Chad Henne is simply not relevant to the Miami Dolphins anymore. It sucks for him that it happened through injury but the result is the same. He is not worth any time or effort discussing anymore. We are very likely to never see him in a Dolphins uniform again.
Agreed, let's move on to the new "IFs". IF we get the #1 pick and IF we draft Andrew Luck and IF he's as good as the experts say he is and IF not I wonder IF the fans will show more patience than they did with the previous QB.
If you look at my previous posts I showed him plenty of respect. I have absolutely nothing personal against the guy and was impressed that he actually tried his best to improve this off season, plus he actually seemed to give a crap about these games. But it's over. We move on.
Well he needed to play good this year to be worth of a real salary but the way he left will not be good for him come FA
He is still relevant, and it is possible they (whoever they are) bring him back in a different role. I realize you want the guy out of here as soon as possible and have disdain for him (or so it appears that way), but he is still relevant because he is still on the roster.
I have no disdain for him whatsoever Alen, which I've stated multiple times. The guy is not going to play another down for us this year, or likely ever. What is gained at this point by continuing to argue how good he might have been?
I think maybe you're getting a little ahead of yourself. But I have to admit, it's hard to come up with anything to get excited about w/ respect to this season. We still have a lot of rooks and young guys who I'd like to see develop and improve. We have some veteran guys playing for new contracts. Pretty thin, I know.
Daniel Thomas will be fun to watch. Gates and Clay as well. Don;t care much about Reggie Bush at this point as I doubt he is here next eyar.
I don't see how you can conclude he won't ever play for this team considering there is still a chance he is brought back by another staff. I don't really care about the arguments of how good he could be or is.
Perhaps you don't realize it but you're already putting a ton of undue pressure on Luck. He's a prospect, that's all. A very good one, great in the eyes of many but still a prospect. I suppose if he doesn't win "multiple Lombardi's" within a few years you'll say he underperformed as well.
Well, let's say I sort of doubt Henne would be brought back or that he'd want to come back provided he had other options which I think he will. Think about it, at best Henne is going to be the nominal starter in front of a rookie. Henne already has an "interesting" relationship with the fanbase. I doubt he wants to be the guy keeping Andrew Luck off the field.
So does that mean you think if Grossman had been on the Dolphins and Henne on the Skins, that we'd be 3-1 and the Skins 0-4?
Well it sure appeared you were giving all the credit to each team's W-L record to the two QBs. That's it read to me.
He's on Injured Reserve and his contract expires after the season is over. He's about as "not on the roster" as you can be while still technically being on the roster, unless you figure on the Dolphins throwing a $18 million franchise tag on him. I'm really not anxious to get him out of Miami to be honest. I can envision scenarios where you'd even WANT to bring him back, to temporarily start for you, like how the 49ers brought back Alex Smith for another year. I'm just anxious for when various people stop making a ton of excuses for every failure of his, so that they can hang onto this notion that he's good enough to be in a franchise's medium or long term plans as a starter. It's unfortunate for Chad Henne, but he will never again be designated as THE guy in the NFL...I don't believe. And at this point I'm not really interested in explaining for the ten thousandth time how he played himself out of that designation, arguing with people who make it their job to find a hundred ways every bad play of his "wasn't his fault".
