Not that I'm condoning the choices made on the offensive line or its play, but this is unfair criticism. The O-line didn't get Henne shelved, it was miscommunication between him and Hilliard that led to the injury.
I would have to think that was Chad's last game in a Dolphins uniform....time to move on, good luck at your next stop Chad.... I wouldn't mind him coming back as the backup, and for backup money, but I am going to think he is going to want to a starting gig somewhere....
My favorite part of the Sage Rosenfels era was when he lead the 4th quarter comeback against Buffalo in '05. Definitely the highlight of his career.
And Chris Chambers' career too. Now I must run away from Aqua as he will probably go in defense mode soon...
Yeah basically Sage Rosenfels was the only thing that stood in the way of Chris Chambers being a never-was. He made the Pro Bowl over Reggie Wayne almost entirely due to that game.
That would be the first option without a doubt. But if we're Top 5 and can't move into the top spot I'd at least want "The Next Guy", which probably will be Landry Jones. May not be Luck, but could certainly be well worth it.
While this hurts the Dolphins, this REALLY hurts this message board. It is going to be REALLY hard to blame things on Henne, now. Not to mention my four page post about how Henne's inaccurate throws aren't his fault, but actually the result of Hurricane Irene is now complete junk. He better put balloons under his shirt like fake boobies again or this is going to be a long year.
Personally I say we sign Jeff George. It would just be hilarious to pick him up on a fantasy football team.
I think "With Chad Henne done for season, Dolphins now plan to sign former Dolphins QB Sage Rosenfels." would have been better.
Too bad for Henne. He may not be the answer but like him or not he clearly tried his hardest to improve and help the team this year. It will be interesting to see what the future brings at the QB position in Miami. As far as the rest of the season goes, like others have mentioned: Sign Rosenfels, start Moore, and activate Devlin. Moore knows the offense enough and he has won games and started before in the NFL. No he's not going to magically become the franchise QB but at this point who is out there that is really worth spending money on for what is likely a lost season? Roll with Moore as the starter for now. Rosenfels gets some time to settle in with the team and offense system. If Moore plays badly or gets injured then start Rosenfels. Devlin as emergency use in a pinch if both the other QBs get hurt in a game.
I'm not sorry to see him out of the lineup I am sorry he is out due to injury and I wish him a quick recovery. As for our Starting QB Moore should get the job. The problem with that is he is going to win us a few games and put us out of the LUCK sweepstakes. I think the Colts are going to pack it in, and grab Luck like someone mentioned. They will have Payton, and Luck and be set again for another 15 years. While we trade out of the third pick..
Reminds me of Facebook yesterday where everyone was telling Steve Jobs RIP, thanks for everything you did. My buddy asks, "do you guys know him? No. Did he come to your house? No. Did he take your money? Yes!!!!"
I feel the same way, I think if I had never visited this forum I'd like Henne a lot more. Well that and not watching last season. Just so many fingers pointed at everyone but him from some posters. Glad you pointed that out PhinGeneral. Offensive line hasn't been great, but the play he was actually injured on was a mix-up with Hilliard. Would think the Henne era is over so good luck on the rehab and rest of NFL career. Thanks for always giving it your all and for beating the Panthers at the only live game I've been to. Third and long Henne rolls out, avoids a sack, and then hits Bess across the middle, for what I feel was the most important play that game.
For a team that does nothing but rotate four solid years worth of offensive linemen and centers Henne getting hurt like this is hardly a stunning endorsement of offensive line success.
CRAP! Really bad news. This was a key year for Henne. IMO we were going to learn alot about the kid from this year. Regardless of the feelings of the "suck for Luck" crowd this has the potential to set us back even longer. We get Luck or not it takes a while for most QB's to develop. Losing Henne and the ability to see his progress or regress throughout his 3rd year is nothing but bad for us. I'd like to thank Ireland and Sparano for building an OL capable of getting someone killed. Great job!
On related news, the police have arrested Marc Colombo on charges of gross negligence, aggravated assault and "oh boy does he ever make more money than he deserves." Sources close to the investigation confirm that Colombo is going to plead turnstile.
Well on the plus side, DTrain should see more carries, along with Slaton and Lexxy. But you are right, this season was designed to go as far as Henne could take us, that is now over. Daboll did turn Hillis into a beast, so let us all hope...he can do it with one of the current running backs.
Well, Slaton has upside, we've seen what DTrain can do, and Lexxy in 09, the only change is not throwing the ball 40 times or more per game. It also will hide the problems on the OL and on Defense.
totally! And now, it hits me, how truly horrible this season is.....the most fun i've had on this board is discussing running back nicknames.
Muck hit the nail on the head. Henne is one passionate, tough dude. It sucks it had to end like this especially with how much work he put into the team and himself during the lockout. I feel badly for him because I can see how much he wants it. I wish him nothing but the best in the future. Get well soon, and good luck, Chad!
Also, I wouldn't necessarily say Henne won't be resigned. If we draft a QB we might want him to sit for a year or two (really depending on who it is and if he's ready or not) but I know Henne is going to want a chance to start somewhere. Could be a situation where he gets a year or two to play while the rookie learns and plays well enough to get himself a starting gig somewhere else when the time comes. It's worth keeping an eye on.
Not to make you feel any worse, but.... It was for an organization his sister is involved with, that helps folks with disabilities with their day-to-day living. His sister suffered brain trauma in a car accident years ago and still uses a wheelchair I believe.
Move Marc Colombo to QB. We insist on playing the guy. Either way. It's domo arigato to Mr. Henne. It's been nice (somewhat).
