http://www.wqam.com/index.php?page=347&sid=83ud95oilcsuv4f6cshtbc99fk4sggcm ''Jeff Ireland is very impressive'' ''He is a very detailed, extremely knowledgable, very hard working...''Very Gifted'' says he ''doesn' have to say this''..pause... ''The Dolphins have themselves a very talented Gm, an excellent evaluator of talent''.. From his clients, the breakdown from them, thorough, as good as anyone else in the league.'' I don't know what his angle is but damn, did he break out the superlatives for everyone.. With some recent info going around that this was truly Irish's first draft...Irish's first draft really looks good, Pounce, DT, Jimmy..Gates..maybe Clay......This is gonna be a tough decision, we might wanna really look at this before we quickly judge, he could of been completely hamstrung by Toro when it came to how an organization coming off 1 and 15 was gonna spend some money.. I believe Cowher, Peterson and Irish were on the chiefs staff all at the same time..??
Rosenhaus isn't going to slam a guy that he currently has to work with and might have to work with in the future.
TO's knee will be healthy and he will be ready to play in about 3 weeks... I do like Irish, but feel he is a weasel, he talks about demanding character or being the "right fit" but does not demand the same thing from himself.
I would be willing to see Jeff stick around another year or longer, as long as he drafts Luck or the next best option at QB in the FIRST round next April. I am coming to believe that frankly Parcells hurt Ireland's drafts, and want to see another draft without BP around. Caveat: Jeff should stay ONLY if that doesn't cost us getting Gruden, The Chin, or Jeff Fisher for our next HC.
I have said all along that Ireland has some very good GM qualities. I don't know if that makes him our best option, but at a minimum he's not a bad one. Now I've criticized some of his moves. I don't like that he seems to come off as a jerk and I'm not sure I agree with all of his position philosophies, but the truth is that there will be things I don't like about whomever we bring in. In the end, I expect that if we land Luck that whatever GM we have will end up looking smart.
I said the same thing..just postin what I heard bro.. I do believe though that Parcells called the shots in terms of who this organization gave big money to..maybe this was his first year.
Well to be honest Locker and Ponder were very high on this draft board. If those two were that high I can only imagine that Luck, a mobile quarterback would also be there.
Imo, the problem this yr is not talent, we do have that, it is guys took the time off from the previously brutal training camp under Parcells and lived it up coupled with Henne's inability to come through in the red zone and marshall's drops. Randy Starks tweeted about how much he loved the pro bowl because the practices were so easy, I suspect that attitude ran through the Defense this offseason.
makes me wonder how much contact went on during the lockout. tony strikes me as the kind of guy to honor while some other coaches not so much. no excuses, just saying
I'm fairly certain people were claiming Ireland said he would steer FAs away from Miami last offseason.
The only reason why I brought this up is, {cause I know drew is bias}, is that we just don't know what we got with Irish, because of Parcells.. What if he is an up and comer?..were not privy to what went on, and the one thing we do know is that this draft was his first solo.. Idk man, he comes across sometimes as a dick, but do you think those flaws overrule the ability to evaluate personnel?...I would love to hear people in football say what they think, I haven't heard anything about this guy from NFL people.. I guess it doesn't matter, if he stays, it will be because Gruden or Cowher gave him a job.. '''Choo gotta yob mang''...lol...scarface reference..
I will grant Ireland is a good talent evaluator, that in no way implys he is a fit GM, finding good talent doesn't need any management organizational skills. Yet keeping everyone happy and working together does, this is Ireland's downfall!
I think that is the point. Can Ross get Peterson, Ireland and Cowher together...Peterson isn't a problem, he and Ireland go way back. The problem is whomever he wants as the new coach. I don't know that it'll be Cowher, just because of Peterson. It's could, however, be Jeff Fisher, who always has had a GM over him, even tho he had the ears of the owner in Tenn. I don't really care at this point. It's simply too early to tell what our idiot owner is going to do. So until he makes a move, we just have to sit and wait...
What a bizarre argument..... The OL is a mess because there really aren't a lot of good lineman out there? That's what a GM is paid to do..... find good players.
OL is a bad example because there are a lot of teams with an offensive linemen mess. Two "good" teams are the Eagles and the Steelers.
The NFL Blitz XM radio guys had a Dolphins fan call in....the guy wanted to know about Sparano being fired soon, and who the HC replacement would be and what it would take to get a HC. And Adam Schein and his show partner (someone sitting in for R. Gannon)??? says, Ross is the problem. Says he is worse than Redskin's owner who has money, but stuck his nose into areas he wasnt qualified for. Says thats Ross's problem, and Ross has quickly built a reputation around the league as a meddling owner. He went on to say that that reputation was sealed when he courted Harbaugh without firing Sparano. Said that didnt sit well with others around the league. Then says, anyone who seeks Football advice and hangs with Carl Peterson is a fool. Questions why you would take advice from Peterson who absolutely ruined the KC chiefs and ran them into the ground until he was exorcised from that franchise, etc. Shine did say Ireland made some mistakes by passing over Orton. But ended it with perhaps the plan was Andrew Luck sweepstakes. The co-host, ex NFL QB says the Chad Henne end of season surgery on non-throwing shoulder smells fishy. Doesnt like it at all. Says either Chad quit and isnt a tough guy, or he was lied to, or was Forced to have the surgery and accept going on IR. This ex-QB says he played through a non-throwing shoulder separation and would never would have agreed to end of season.
This is too easy. Rosenhaus' number one goal is to inflate the value of his players. By telling Ireland that he is great at evaluating players, he is affirming to Ireland that those players are good enough to merit the money he is going to want to get for them.
If anyone but him would have said this, I would take notice, but on that note, he is just repeating what we've all heard over and over. Thanks for posting that though regardless.
In all honesty, if Sparano is fired, but Ireland is still around, then I would be very disappointed in Ross.
This past draft was Ireland's first draft where he had full control.......and he did a good job, did he not? He nailed his 1st rounder (pouncy) and he nailed his 2nd rounder (Daniel thomas).......
I think either Fisher or Gruden would be happy to just hire their staffs and coach, while letting Ireland take care of personnel accrual. Not sure Cowher would agree to that set up.
IMO, he would simply go the no comment route if his opinion was negative. He'd do that before he'd try to blow smoke up Ireland's ***. Jeff would smell a bullsh!t story a mile away anyway.
