It's a nice win / win for us. Beating the Jets is always a great thing. But should we lose, we're still on track for Luck.

Yep. Either outcome is fine with me. Not worth getting emotionally invested either way at this point

Sadly, that opening drive was probably the season's high water mark.

Not necessarily. There are several franchise level QBs in this draft. IMO four of them are better prospects than Sanchez was coming out.

Oooor we lose to them now, and "dagger" them twice every year for the next 15 years...

The two games between Indy and Jax are pretty important.

the "gameday" thread was allowed because the fins were off. if you guys haven't noticed, if you start a thread about Luck, it will be merged here

it cuts down on clutter, Luck is not a Dolphins player, and its nowhere near draft time

Every week Manning doesn't go on IR is a good sign.

I honestly think they want him to come back, if for no other reason than to see where he's at physically. If he can play for 5 or 6 games, and play well, whether he wins 1 game or 5 games won't really matter. If he looks good they will continue building around him for a last run or two.

I feel like there should be a "Suck for Luck" forum and make Luck-based wordplay worth a ban anywhere but there.

    Why?

Like it or not, "Suck for Luck" is a huge storyline of the season. Perhaps we play our way out of it, but if we don't, this is literally the biggest story in Dolphin land. Even bigger than a potential coaching change

Agree.. This is turning in to the "Zoo".. On of the main reasons why I'm just about ready to call it quits here and didn't renew my club membership.
All one needs to do is look at what San Fran has done with a change of leadership and attitude to see that our situation isn't about the QB. It's about the organization and coaching staff. This Suck for Luck obsession after 4 weeks is disgraceful.. To wish that this team loses out to win the next QB savior is about as low as I've seen people go in the 30+ years I have followed this team.. I'm not taking part and I silently hope that we miss out on him on the last week of the season.

So because Harbaugh is doing well we should just worry abotu a new coach and bring back Henne?

So don't frequent any threads that say "Suck for Luck" in the title. It's not rocket science. I don't particularly feel the urge to tell people in the "Good News Network" thread how ridiculous I happen to find that idea, either.

This whole forum police movement that has some folks tell other folks what a proper fan should and shouldn't talk about is what's really turning this place into a zoo. And a pretty unpleasant one, too. If you don't want to talk about "Suck for Luck", then just don't.

Agreed. He'll come back and they'll win some games. They'd probably have at least 2 wins right now (maybe 3) if he'd been in there. I just can't picture them drafting Luck with him healthy.

No, it's not. It's obnoxious hype, and it's wildly premature at that.

That's one thread, about a variety of sub-topics that arguably don't get enough exposure, and it doesn't constantly leak into anything and everything.

"Suck for Luck" is also an incredibly substance-poor topic. Outside of what alen1 posted in the Club Level, I'm pretty sure this is what the Justin Bieber fan forums look like. It's incredibly hyped, amazingly premature anticipation.

ROFL... San Fran plays in the NFC west. They've beaten juggernauts like Seattle, Cinci, Philly, and Tampa. Coaching matters. We all get that. Personell matters too. We've discussed how important the QB position is ad nauseum, so I won't explain it again.

It's not silent if you say it out loud. And yeah, way to go on that one. Seems smart!

Considering the considerable amount of success the Dolphins have enjoyed over the last 15 or so years, I'm really hopeful that we stay the course. The joy of watching a team play to a 7-9 record and winning a bunch of games 16-13 or 20-14 is a delight. Nothing excites me like mediocre offensive football and a defense that gets beaten to a pulp over the course of a season and is completely ineffective by the holiday season.

Then in 2012 Brady suffers a career ending injury and the Pats finish 2-14 and grab Luck 1st overall.

The Dan Henning issue leaked into anything and everything. So did the Chad Henne debate. And yet, strangely enough, I didn't feel the urge to tell people how moronic they were for discussing it ad nauseum. I simply avoided these threads, by and large.

And yet, a lot of people want to talk about it, apparently. I don't see why they should not be allowed to or be subject to verbal abuse that - if it was directed at an individual instead of being crudely hidden behind blanket statements - would usually result in bans or warnings pretty quickly.

They then trade us Green-Ellis and Mallet for a 1st, 2nd, 3rd and 2 future 1st rounders. And we finish 6-10 ever after. The end.

Elway had baseball, Manning had the family tree... What does Luck have to threaten any team that drafts him with?

Should we lose against the Jets, we could certainly rename it to "If Joe Robbie was still alive, he'd be the only one in attendance" stadium.

The price for Luck would probably be three first round picks to a team like Kansas City or some other terrible team. Then if Landry Jones slides and Seattle wants Barkley perhaps you could get another.

Regardless: Jones+two firsts+player would already be a coup, so it's not a terrible scenario.

I'd be shocked. Besides, Matt Stafford didn't choose to avoid the Lions. Pretty sure he's happy with that decision.

Yeah he's not going to stay in school to avoid us because we're going to have a new head coach and Miami is an attractive destination. That's a great example as Detroit was viewed in a much more negative light than Miami. If you're a winner you don't mind going to a bad team and being part of the answer.

It's an attractive situation to come to. You can do a lot worse than Marshall, Hartline, Bess, and Fasano as a #1 QB pick. And Jake Long covering his blindside is also very attractive. Plus going to South Beach as opposed to say Carolina or Kansas City another benefit.

There's also some familiarity between his father and Carl Petterson for what it's worth, doing some digging(fun things you google at 5am) it seems that Petterson was a pretty big backer for NFL Europe which Olivier Luck ran till 2000. He's also become friends with the Hunt family in KC due to the same reason.

Notice how the REAL coaches were able to rotate players when their starting linemen were injured? I agree that a strong line goes a LONG way, but I also see how some teams still win with OL issues. We're 14-22 since the Ravens WHUPPED us in the playoffs 3 yrs ago... I believe that coaching has consistantly been our weakest area since Shula got run off by H Wayne...

As long as he's down with Dolphins and doesn't pull any Archie Manning nonsense, he can do whatever he wants up in WVA as far as I'm concerned.
