I listened to the Marshall trade talk after Andre went down. It is hard to trade for a WR midseason and have them be effective. But trade for a DE who already knows the 3-4 and is a force? Texans need Wake, and we need high draft picks. Misi and Oddrick are serviceable. Wake will be expensive next year and a little older than what he will think he is worth. Get it done!!!!

No way the Texans give up a first round pick for Wake

I could easily see them offering a first round pick and it would be a good move on Miami's part. Simply apply the money saved from the Wake extension to sign a player at whatever position you like in the future. Ends up in Miami's favor. Plus it gives you a nice pick to help build Andrew Luck a nice offensive line:shifty:

Not a Wake fan and would like to see him be shipped off for a pick or two.

Perhaps with more playing time Misi may even surprise as as a primary pass rusher. The money saved could easily add a guard like Ben Grubbs and then the pick a guy like Riley Reiff.

    Forget that franchise.

If we do make a trade with them, I hope they get raped and set back 10 years.

Nobody gives a 1 for wake IMO. Maybe a 2nd? That may even be pushing it in the rest of the leagues eyes.

I'm not sure why you would think that. I could easily see a first round pick especially a late one.

    A 2nd and a 4th round picks would a great deal.

I would take a second in a heart beat for wake. By the time his services are relevant for this franchise again, he will be on a downhill slide. He was a FA pickup. Turning him into a 2nd round pick is probably the best personnel move this team has made since aquiring Dan Marino in the draft. Hmm after saying that, it will never happen with this office.

    I could see that.

I dont think hes showing enough so far this year to make others take him for a first given his age. Hopefully he starts making a case for it though.

I don't think they need to replace him. That division is turrible. 8 wins will win it imo.

I heard the Titans would like to challenge the Texans for that division.

I don't think so. This is a franchise that has yet to make the playoffs. And if they do go 8-8 (I think they'll win 10 games) I think the Mario injury will save his job and give him a final mulligan.

If they could make that trade it might be good for both teams.

I think Wake would be a good fit with the Texans. In Miami we are always down at half making it a lot harder to get after the QB. In Houston they are usually leading and the opposing teams are airing it out which is exactly when Wake is at his best. Be a win/win depending on the package in return.

I don't know about that. Considering that Wake isn't yet 30 and still has another year left on a very modest deal, I could see a team pulling the trigger.

Wake is signed for another year for like a million dollars...virtually nothing by NFl standards. he is a steal for any team trading for him. For a guy who had 16 sacks/21 hits/29 pressures in 440 pass rush snaps last season that is absolute top five pass rusher production based on PFF's numbers. Granted hes a weakside (Right tackle side) rusher meaning he plays a different position then Williams but he is making peanuts.

The only downside is that the Texans did draft Brooks Reid in round 2 this past year and they have Connor Barwin who could play the position as well meaning I am not sure if they will invest another high pick in an LB, even one as good as Wake

Why would Ireland make a trade when he isn't 100% sure he will be around to use the picks with?

You proposed that we trade Wake... and then said that "Misi and Odrick" are servicable? Odrick doesnt even come close to playing the same position?

No way in hell any team gives us a first rounder for 30-year-old who has only had 1 good season in the NFL.
And this is coming from a Wake fan.

Or.... and it might be a crazy logic here bu um... How about, after we draft Luck or some other high rated QB, we take use our next highest draft pick to draft a pass rusher that works on the other side of Wake? Or, better yet, sign an established pass rusher that can consistently get 10+ sacks a year? Just a thought.

it would be stupid to trade Wake for anything less than a first & 4th round draft choice.

while i'm always in for an upgrade ... exactly who are we going to draft that would be an instant upgrade to Wake?? We've needed a compliment to him over these last 2 drafts, and what have we done ... took a flier on Misi, who is average but nothing special -- and does not do anything to make Wake's life easier ... oh yeah -- then of course, there's the venerable JT ... hmmmph.

while we don't have many game changers on the roster .... we have even less complimentary and depth players that all the championship teams DO have. Our drop-off from starter to back-up is significant, especially in the high priority positions.

i know the argument ... sell high -- like we should have done with Carey (and i advocated for 2 years now), but to do that - you need to already have an answer in the fold. the FO has done poorly in that regard.

How quickly we forget trading JT for 2nd and 6th round picks only to get him back the next season.

Mario played left OLB for them because he was abusing RTs like Linkenbach of the Colts, and Colombo. Wake plays left OLB for us.

He's our only pass rusher. If we want a quick turnaround he's going to be a useful player.

This next game against the Jests should tell us pretty quickly if we are going to make a quick turn around. We seem to have the Jests number in NY, let's hope it continues. But, I want it to be a convincing victory. I never root for us to lose when a game is being played, but the more we lose; the more appealing getting a high pick in this years QB draft class looks.

The interesting dynamic in this would be Ross.. will/would he allow Ireland to trade away our one great defensive asset for possible future gains? If so Ireland is here to stay...imo

When has this regime ever been pro active and traded a vet
and got something worth value in the past??

We are about to lose Soliai and Langford next season to free agency
    without anything in return

This team doesn't know how to trade vets for future draft picks
