I have no idea what Ireland can and/or might do here. ESPN's Clayton thought about an Orton trade but, backed off. SF lost Josh Morgan, and is likely looking for a WR, where we have many. Another interesting thought is Houston, who believes they can do something, lost Mario Williams for the year. Could they make a great offer for Wake? Aside from that we have Langford, not playing up to his standards, and Merling, who will both be FA's. Soliai will also be a FA but, the franchise salary makes him pretty much impossible to trade. It's all pure speculation but, a deal would not surprise me.
Derrick Mason goes to the Texans: http://www.macsfootballblog.com/2011/10/jets-trade-wr-derrick-mason-to-texans.html Not quite what you were looking for though.
I think what hes saying is that SF has Morgan out and Edwards off knee surgery and Crabtree playing like a bust...the list of issues with SF wr's goes on and on. Hes saying that sending a WR to SF may not be a bad idea if it nets us an unexpectedly higher draft pick. Like trading Marshall for their first. Personally, Id trade anyone not named Jake Long, Karlos Dansby, Daniel Thomas, Mike Pouncey and Davone Bess. EDIT: Oh, and I also wouldnt trade Matt Moore as he helped Carolina Suck For Newton so he can help us Suck For Luck. Actually, has any QB ever been a starter for 2 teams that picked #1 overall?
You are thinking correctly Matt. Trading Marshall's salary would be difficult at this time (not impossible) but, I can see trading another for a lower pick. If Houston is making a temp move for Mason, they just may be looking to make another to replace Williams pass rush.
Another idea, we can trade Carey, Incognito, Berger, Jerry to Pitt for a few picks. They just need bodies. Dont worry that they suck, they have a bunch of turnstiles on that OL also.
I would keep Cog. He played well last year, and is starting to do so again. I would trade the others, and Da Bears may be a landing spot. Hell; their OL is as bad as bad can be, and they are not taking kindly to the Lion;s Roar.
No surprise, the Bears have drafted poorly the last couple of yrs so I would not think he will do much for them.
Why not trade for Orton, and let dueling ponies fight it out on MNF? It would be an event worthy of Ross. LOL
Their OL isnt bad its that Martz has a lot of plays that involve long developing routes. This is what lead to Warner's injuries and concussions. He has a lot of good plays in his playbook but he needs an OL made from your 5 best OL at each position because he gets his QB's killed.
I've watched Da Bears OL a few times this year. To me, they look like five Columbo's. Now there's a trade we can make and a perfect fit to the rest of their OL.
As was tweeted last night: "Bears offensive line strategy is to let all 5 Lions behind them and they will all run into themselves giving Cutler time to throw the football"
I would hope that we base that on something. Last year Cog was #17 in the NFL of all G's. I agree on the first three games this year but, he played much better in the last game. To be fair, the OL works as a unit, and Long is no where near what he was, and Pouncey is a rookie. Not easy to deal with correcting mistakes by others, which he has had to do.
He played better in last game? You mean like how he was laying on the ground while Moore was getting blasted? And yes I base this on watching the games, not pff rankings. Cogs sucked last year as well...I've never seen a guard in my life who is on the ground more...
The NFL Trade Deadline....*crickets*...nothing ever happens. IF this was hockey, baseball or basketball we could trade 5 guys and get a bunch of prospects and picks, looking towards next year.
I think I watched the same games but, did not just look at low lights. We're just gonna have to disagree on this one.
Jimmy Clausen started/played more games last year than Moore. He had a much bigger role in the Suck for Newton campaign.
Dude, if you wanna win the SFL sweepstakes you have to be more optimistic. The common denominator is Matt Moore was on both teams and actually played.
i hope we make no dumb moves in getting players, we need all picks next year, wouldn´t mind to ship some players away though
There's no way this FO trades away Marshall. That would be an admission of monumental proportions. Maybe Wallace or Moore. Not sure what either would net though. And, I don't think I'm cool with the idea of trading Wake (unless it were for a first rounder, and I just don't see that happening). Honestly, I just don't see where we have many tradeable commodities. Like steveincolorado said, maybe a cheerleader or two.
I don't know about "much" bigger...Moore was 1-5 in the games he played in. Not exactly much of a help.
They just gave Marshall a bunch of extra money this off season after the league year officially started, no? He's not going anywhere, not yet. But depending on how they're feeling about Clyde Gates' progression (I haven't seen much, personally) they could feel like it's time to part with Brian Hartline. I would deal Reggie Bush away if someone were to bite. Trading for him was a big mistake. The most natural thing to do would be trading Randy Starks since Tony McDaniel is getting healthy and Jared Odrick has to fight Starks for playing time. Thing is, Starks is playing well. Someone would have to be willing to give a good price for him. Truthfully the one I'd rather trade is Odrick. I don't think he's meant for this style of defense. I'd accept a pack of chewing gum for Phil Merling. I'd be willing to trade Yeremiah Bell but it might be a game too late after the game he had against San Diego. If someone tossed in a nice offer for Koa Misi, I might actually accept that, but it would have to be a decent offer...3rd rounder.
Is there such a thing as a Yard Sale in pro football? " Miami Dolphins Yard Sale", used players at good prices, make us an offer and take one home with you today!
Here's a horrifying question. What would you do, if Jeff Ireland took next year's 1st round pick (you know, the one everyone wants to use on Andrew Luck), and traded it to the Bengals for Carson Palmer? Could we organize a twitter flash mob to go completely raze Dolphins HQ?
That's a good list, and a fair run down, CK. I would add in Langford if we are not going to be able to re-sign him. I'm also wondering how high a pick we would have to give a team to take Columbo.
Archie Manning, but that was the same team, two years in a row...certainly wasn't his fault though...went thru two head coaches as well...
I have absolutely no interest in trading anything for Tebow. He is merely a gimmick QB who will never be more than a mediocre player in the NFL. I think he was a great college football player but the Dolphins need a franchise QB if they are going to rebuild the team and Tebow is not now, and never will be a franchise QB.
Clausen was 1-12 in games he played in. Regardless, the entire Panthers team was garbage. Coached by John Fox who is doing an amazing job this year.
Me thinks Stephen Ross would never sign off on that, as not only would fans raze Dolphins HQ, but his season ticket base next year would probably be fairly microscopic. In fact, they might have to hire someone to gather up all the tumbleweed rolling through the stadium.
