I think I heard that our team is playing the emmer effing Jets this Monday night. I've been busy talking about Tebow, SFL, new coaches, and how bad the team is to know for sure.

    Can anyone confirm this?

Exactly. The most placid Jets Week ever. I'm not even really complaining. I think I'm more impressed than anything else.

I just got official confirmation from ESPN and NFL.com. We are in fact playing the FRAKIN Jets this Monday.

Think we should at least try to talk about the game a bit to keep up appearances? We sure as hell to not want the Comish to have any reason to believe that the Phans, players, and coaches are already tanking games for a draft pick.

    Just a thought.

CK, Who the hell cares if we beat the hated Jets? If we do, it could have long term catastrophic implications.

I've never felt so conflicted as a fan. On one hand, it's the freaking Jets and I'd love nothing more than to ruin their season on MNF and prove to the world we're a decent team. On the other hand, losing will increase the chances of us landing Andrew Luck. It would feel too weird not rooting for Miami to win, but I guess we can't be too disappointed if we lose? Never been in a position like this in all my years as a sports fan.

Doesn't matter. I think we're going to lose the game. I trust the Jets to circle the wagons and play inspired at home a HELL of a lot more than I trust the Dolphins to circle the wagons.

And that trade of Derrick Mason...I think that's all part of it. That's part of the wake-up call, the message the Jets are sending to the roster that if we don't like your attitude, if you're not performing, you're gone.

The Dolphins get some players back from injury but there've been no changes discernible by practice to the lineups. The Dolphins' message to the players is, more of the same. Just get healthy and 'the plan' will work out in the end.

That -7 line on this game is a pretty healthy one considering the Jets are a 2-3 team and the Dolphins are 0-4. But, I think it's appropriate, and I'd probably still be more inclined to put money on the Jets to cover that than the Dolphins.

The Dolphins still have yet to have that game...that total implosion game...like Week 17 of the 2010 season...where the roster basically rises up and SCREAMS that something is absolutely wrong here and needs to change. That hasn't really happened yet, but it is going to happen. It's only a matter of time. These players are subconsciously looking to get Tony Sparano fired even if consciously they support him and like him.

This could be that game. I had Week 7 pegged as that game, prior to the start of the season...but that was on the supposition that we'd be 1-3 right now, not 0-4. The Dolphins may have sped up that event by a week by losing that tight one in Cleveland.

    I agree on the Jets.

While I don;t think they're anything special, they are certainly good enough and well coached enough to play desparate and beat the Dolphins. I have no doubt that we get their absolute best, particularly on defense against Matt Moore.

Rex Ryan is simply going to unload everything he has on him and it would not shock me if Matt doesn;t make it through the whole game

I'm excited about the next 4 games, from a SFL standpoint. The tumblers could be falling into place. This Jets game comes in the Jets' own house at a time when that team is really feeling backed into a corner. They just traded Derrick Mason to send the message to their roster. That crowd up in New York can be pretty nasty and if they get momentum and the crowd on their side, this team doesn't have the mental toughness to withstand.

Tim Tebow came in for the Broncos at just the right time. I love that he came in during the last game and was able to bring the Broncos closer to victory, energizing the team and ensuring that they approach this bye week with a lot of excitement and enthusiasm. He gave them a chance to win, right at the end. Hell as I recall on that final hail mary, the ball actually hit a WR right on the hands after it was tipped by a defender, didn't it? This bye week will be one where they modify their offense and work on the things they need to do to help Tebow be successful, and so the Dolphins won't even have a good grasp on the things the Broncos are going to come out with in Week 7, because it's going to be so much different from what they've seen from the Broncos offense under Orton. This was a game that had me a little worried because the Dolphins have sped up the timeline of their collapse to the point where Tony Sparano COULD be fired right after the Jets game. That could produce a response from the players. It really could. However, even if it does...there's some question as to whether they could come out with this victory even if they wanted to, and that would put the Dolphins 2 wins ahead of the Broncos in the Suck For Luck race.

Skip ahead to Week 9 in Kansas City...I think that team is turning around. As I was saying while they were losing these games by these mega scores...when teams lose like that, it tends not to be indicative of how they're going to do for the rest of the year. There's always something else going on and that something else finds a way to rectify itself. They played real tough against San Diego and then won two in a row against Minnesota and Indianapolis. That Indy win was a great come from behind victory too. Hell, at this point, if they are able to go 1-1 in the two games before they play Miami, then they and their fans have to be thinking that even the playoffs and/or division title are still within reach. Is Oakland ready to step up and be a truly consistent team, or will stupid mistakes continue to plague them? As good as "winning one for Al" felt this weekend, on that final crucial play against the Texans, they couldn't even get the right defense on the field and ended up with 10 men trying to defend that play on the goal line. I could see both the Raiders and Chargers starting to crack a little bit under the strain of being the leaders of the division, allowing the Chiefs back into the equation. And that will give the Chiefs both confidence and motivation to make sure they put away the Dolphins.

What is tougher for me to figure out is that Giants game back in Week 8. However, it is IN New York, and that could figure importantly into it. They lost at home to the Seahawks...wonder if that could happen again. If they beat the Bills this weekend, heading into the bye at 4-2, then I think they should just legitimately be considered to be a good team. And coming off that bye like that, they're a really injured team, and they'll start to get healthier and get some people back. That could give them the edge they need.

The Jets problem isn't motivation. Its personnel. They can't stop the run without Bryan Scott, and they can't run the ball with that offensive line.

This game is like a Win-Win, kinda. Win and we take the Jets down into the depths with us and expose them even worse. Lose and we're one step closer to Luck. If the Colts beat the Bengals, which will be tough but it's possible, that makes this game easier to cheer for. Though it also makes a loss better, putting us in the driver's seat.

This could be like the last big game of the season...it also might be our last night game until 2013. Not even sure if Gruden and Luck would get us one in 2012, though they might put Gruden on MNF once if he does come here.

After this next four game stretch...visibility is down. If one thing worries me about the Redskins game it's that IF the Redskins are actually pretenders to the throne...the next 4 weeks will be enough time for cracks to start developing, and then they could end up in a typical "trap game" situation down in Miami.

That's also plenty of time for the Buffalo Bills to start feeling their roots. They could blow that home game against us. And if Sage Rosenfels is playing in that game...especially. Remember that home comeback he had against the Bills?

The Dallas Thanksgiving game...I think that's a pretty secure loss. I think Dallas will have had plenty of time to get it together and those Thanksgiving short week games are always tough to win on the team's home turf.

I think by the time we play the Oakland Raiders in Week 13, they could be snapping out of a mid-season malaise.

And it sure wouldn't surprise me if by Week 14 the Eagles are one of the most unstoppable teams in football.

And that intra-divisional run at the end...dicey. The Bills will be playing for playoff standing by that time so I think we count on them to win. I don't think NE would ever play to lose in Week 16 but it depends on their record.

The Jets in Week 17 though...if they're mathematically eliminated...that's the one I'm worried about. They have the sort of rogue "F You" mind set to where their players really COULD throw a game to make sure we don't get Andrew Luck. We just have to hope that they're in the midst of a HEATED battle with the Bills for a playoff spot. If that's the case, then we have to hope that our players don't get it in their heads that they want to spoil that playoff run.

I know I'm in the minority on this, but I've never really cared anymore about beating the Jets than any other team. They just never seemed to be particularly relevant to whether our season was good or bad. When we were contending, it seemed that it was usually the Pats or some other team (Ravens) that knocked us out or were a thorn in our side. Most years the Jets weren't that good, so there wasn't much envy. Even the last two years I mostly saw them as lucky rather than good. I always expected them to fall back to the pack a bit this year. Even when I lived down there, the NYers were easy to shut up b/c their team usually sucked. They were more plentiful and obnoxious at the stadium, but that wasn't enough to make me care that much about beating that team.

They used to always be a pain in our side especially during the early Wannstedt days which was the last time we had even a pretender/contender.

What does winning get us at this point?? Does it put us one step closer to the playoffs? No. Does it show that we have established our dominance over the Jets? No........But I still want to win this game, unfortunately I don't think we are going to be bad enough to get Luck in the draft. Hell our luck we would get the #1 pick and he would refuse to play for us and stay in college another year, which he can do. I want this team to do the best that it can, I can't start hoping for losses this early in the year. Now if we are in the last couple of weeks and we have a shot at the #1 pick, then go for it. As for now, I root for wins, and now I have the pleasure that if we lose so what?

I always love beating the Jets (especially since I live in Jets country), but I see some bad signs for this one. For one, I think Rex Ryan is licking his lips figuring out ways to exploit our offensive line. Bring pressure on the side where our criminally slow right tackle is? Check. Bring some exotic blitzes to hopefully confuse our rookie center and new starter at QB? Check. I'd expect us to use a 6th offensive lineman on numerous occasions.

Of course, the Jets are having an awful time stopping the run this year. But what if Daniel Thomas is still having issues with his hamstring? It's going to be hard to exploit their weakness when we may not be at full strength to get the job done. I have little faith in being able to muster much of a passing attack under those circumstances. Don't think Revis and Cromartie have forgotten about showing us who exactly has the best corner tandem around.

On the positive side, they don't have Braylon Edwards who has killed us in the past. Plax hasn't shown all that much, and I think Davis and Smith should be able to keep him and Holmes under control. Keller could be a major concern, though. They will try and run the ball, and our Dline has to be up to the task.

I don't think our players are going to roll over and not play hard, this team is better that what the standing shows. The season still young and a lot of football need to be play. I personally want our team to win more games possible, I'm a Dolphins fan, I want my team to win, not hoping to lose because we may have a chance to pick a QB..... which is not in our roster today therefore I really don't care. Makes sense to think about the future, but we have play only 4 games so far, if we were close to the end of the season and our standing is very bad, then we can talk about Luck, not now, is to early. JMHO
Let's show to the Jest who's the better team.

I think the most interesting thing about this game is that Jon Gruden will be in the booth doing the color for the game. It will be very interesting to hear what he says about the Dolphins and if anymore "I want to bring this team back to the glory days" type of comments are made. For those of you who were around back in 1995, Gruden's comments may remind you of Jimmy Johnson's comments about the Dolphins back then when he was doing the Fox Pre Game show. If I remember correctly, Jimmy actually came out and stated something to the nature of "Miami has a lot of talent. This is what I would do if I coached them" or thereabouts.

The problem for the SFLers is that at some point, you have to think something is going to click for this defense and that unit will end up carrying the team to a few wins. This defense is too talented to continue to play this poorly, and Mike Nolan is too good of a defensive coach.

I'm with ya Padre. We're gonna give Rex Ryan a "foot" to his nuts, and then nail "Tiny Tim & His Pony Show." After that "Eli's Coming" and going with another Phins win. We follow with bar-b- q ing KC, getting even for Custer with the Redskins, and then killing Buffalo Bill. That puts us back into the playoff race, and will happen if we can just kick the Jet's *** on MNF.
