I honestly do not know whether to be happy that some folks care enough about MLB to go back on forth, or not..:dunno:

Dude, for real relax. Dolfan4life is a good guy, it was funny that night the Yankees lost and we were thrilled, he took it to another level. But, you did too with the German stuff and what not, but it's over and done.......It must be a bye week, and the Fins suck, were attacking each other in the MLB forum.....

Point is, Dolfan isnt new to the forums, he may not post alot in here but he reads and keeps up.Hell, I gave him the most hell about the Red Sox choking, I filled his Pm's...lol

So it's all good man, lets enjoy the rest of the playoffs.

Im hoping the Rangers take it this year, so close last year, its their time...

I find myself cheering for the squirrel.

Cards used to play rabbit ball, now they are playing squirrel ball.

Its all good. I hate the Yankees, so there's only 3 things he could of done worse, then calling me a Yankees fan. 3. Slap me 2. Spit in my face and 1. Call me a red saux fan. So you just got to watch how your throwing out those terms.

Most of the saux and yanks that post on here are pretty knowledgeable and cool though

Rangers up 2-0, Cards split, with Albert going yard.

That cards team is a resilient bunch, watching the first game I thought they were overmatched.

Well they lost, Tigers are tough at home. With 3 gms in 3 days it comes down to whose bullpen is better.

Cards had a nice bounce back game,.

I dont know about Excellent - let alone smart....but frankly this says all that needs to be said about Mr. Williams and his thinking....not good.

Good game, yes the Tiggers are tough at home, i look for a bounce back from the Rangers.

When you been a White Sox fan as long as I have and been through the ups "05 WS" and the downs "the rest", you have seen it all. Williams isnt the best at times, he has good free agencies and has worst, signing Dunn was just plain stupid. As far as Ventura, yes IMO excellent signing, he brings a good staff with him and he is very respected all through out the organization, he is a gamer. I guess, Im also a homer since I know Robin Ventura personally too..hehe
I have confidence in him and I think Kenny Williams will open his eyes as well.

I get as a fan your general excitement with anything WhiteSox!

But what makes you feel in anyway shape or form, Ventura can succeed (or be taken seriously) as a MLB Manager?

He isnt exactly Kirk Gibson (in reputation, on field success, or demeanor; nor has he paid any dues in minors, or as Asst right?)

I just think Kenny is mailing it in and frankly writing his express ticket out of the organization with this move.

Hey big doggy dog...wow I was over this but ok we can continue..lol
As, I said previously Ventura is well respected in the White Sox organization, he was actually offered several jobs within the organization prior to Ozzie, but he turned them down to be with family.Robin brings in something Ozzie doesnt, a more relaxed demeanor, he is friends with alot of players, and respected due to his game.Riensorf really likes him and he will bring the gamer, winning attitude with him. I mean who cares if he hasnt managed before, he brings something new a fresh face, fresh start, his own style, which players are liking already. I'm happy with it, and if other people aren't who cares :tongue2:...As i said about kenny Williams he is hit or miss and yes i think this is a great hit...

Yeah noogies really hurt..blah blah blah.......

    Cards v Rangers

St Louis is sort of like the Audi of MLB, they are not glamorous like the Yanks or BoSox or even Dodgers, they win a WS every couple of yrs (or at least make an appearance), rarely are loaded with stars.

And don't mess with the squirrel!

They've had Albert Pujols for the past decade and one of the best pitchers in the NL for quite a while, too. I wouldn't say they are rarely loaded with stars.

    /Holliday is a star, too.

JH: Ok, I give you Adrian Gonzalez and get a hand-job, oh and a couple of low level high upside long shots that wont impact this organization in the short term; but will demand to be paid if they do make a splash in the future...right...ok, and then what?
TE: Well, then I will also make a play for Crawford and overpay him putting an albatross around beantown and then have an epic collapse while catering a nice KFC, Bojanles, and Popeye's chicken fest and Beer days, and watch us go from 1st to sitting home for post season.
JH: Yeah, thats good, then what?
TE: Then you will join me in Chicago and we will laugh and see if we can kill a goat or something like that in Chi-Town.
JH: Ummm, good, I love lamb...so goat cant be bad, right. Let's do this!

Ok well my 2nd pick for WS matchup is here thank you thank you...

Now as far as this WS anyone saying boring or anything has no clue...

Rangers are a strong offensive team and pitching is strong as well....The Cards find ways to score come up with big hits when needed, grinders is more like it and the pitching also finds ways to get out of jams...I'm sticking with my pick of Rangers winning it but now the question is how many games to do it in.....I dare say 5 games...but boring it wont be, looks like a good world series coming....

I'm just glad the teams who tried to buy a title aren't in it this year......"here comes the bashers..lmfao", or maybe their having a beer too...haha

Wait a minute, you mean the two teams in the World Series don't have the highest payrolls? I thought only the top teams in terms of payroll always make and win in the playoffs. I'm actually surprised more people are mad that the Rangers made the World Series two years in a row, they were the first AL team to do that since 2000-2001.

They do consistently make the playoffs, not the WS.

IDK, Hoyer in Chicago does not make a whole lot of sense, they want a proven GM who has had success, Hoyer has not had much success in San Diego.

They probably should just pay for Theo.

Because he doesnt have the resources in SD (money).....but if Hoyer were a GM, and Theo was the Bill Parcells of the operation.....then it makes sense...

Yet I proved your theory to be mostly false in the last page of the thread.

As far as Hoyer, I posted my response to it in the Sox thread but I find that report to be pure gossip/speculation. Why would anyone leave a GM position to be an assistant somewhere? Especially a GM under contract until 2013 with an option for 2014. It just doesn't make any sense.

Not only that but he's been a GM for 2 years, it takes time to build a team. Especially one that he was left with when he signed on to be the GM. They had zero talent in the minor leagues and very little at the MLB level.

That makes a little more sense then. Can't say I'd blame Hoyer for doing that then, I mean the Cubs GM position is extremely attractive. I wonder if San Diego would let Hoyer walk though.

Hardly, last 10 yrs, since 200 million dollar per yr players came into existance, the number of teams with 100 million dollar payrolls who made the playoffs will outweigh the ones with less then 100 million, especially if that is prorated as time moves forwards.

In MLB nothing guarantees a World Series title, payroll does assure competitiveness.

Really? What if I told you since 2001 (the first time MLB had a team with a payroll of over 100 million) that only 30 teams out of the 88 that made the playoffs had opening day payrolls of over 100 million, while the remaining 58 didn't, what would you say to that?

    http://www.stevetheump.com/Payrolls.htm

As far as competitiveness: out of the 12 MLB teams that had 100 million dollar payrolls only 4 of those teams made the playoffs, while both Chicago teams, Twins and Mets didn't even finish above .500.

Teams with money have certain advantages in terms of signing FAs sure, but it doesn't guarantee those teams anything beyond that.
