I read an article in the Sun on Reggie Bush being ranked #1-hundred and eleventh of all RB's in the NFL, although some with limited playing time, by PFF. Yes, that is dead last.

Let's take a look at the other Phins acquired outside the draft.

Burnett is at #85 ILB. Yes, this is dead last.

Dansby is #81 but, not dead last.

Columbo is #87, and surprisingly there are a few who are worse.

Marshall is at #47- Elite? Top 5? Spare me. Dez is now better, and he was there to pick.

Then there are the guys, who have played pretty well in Cog and Fasano. I wonder, if we did not have Fasano, if we may have drafted a Jimmy Graham or, another play making TE, even though I do like Fasano.

To be fair, Starks was a VG pick up, and not high priced, McD for a 7th was VG, Wake was a very cheap find, as was Bess, as undrafted.

We have drafted well, and maybe should have gone through the growing pains without any other moves. They have not worked at all.

    Thoughts?

I was praying and pleading with the television on draft day for these guys to grab Dez Bryant to pair him up with Marshall. But the truth is, Bryant would not be as good in Miami. Romo may have his problems, but he's a better QB than Henne. As for Marshall......... Marshall is a top WR in this league talent wise..... but coming to Miami reminds me of Randy Moss in Oakland. Crappy QB situation, franchise having problems, which causes him to just give up mentally on the field.

As for the rest of your list.... well, people want Sparano fired for a reason. Apparently, he is horrible at maximizing his roster's potential.

    1. Pump the breaks on thread making.

    2. The new regime is coming. So the bade FA pickups and trades of this current one is irrelevant.

When you drop 3-4 TD's in 4 games, you are not a top WR. I liked Dez in place of Marshall, not with him.

There are few FA's and trades which have worked out for all teams, not just Miami and Sparano. Look at Andy Reid in Philly. Is he horrible as well?

    1. Give me something better to talk about. I would welcome it. :)

    2. The bad FA pickups and trades are league wide, not just in Miami.

I don't buy this argument for two reasons...

Marshall is allegedly an elite player in the league. Dropped passes...passes that were RIGHT IN HIS HANDS and were EASY catches hold zero excuse for being dropped. Whether or not Henne is a crappy QB is irrelevent. I've seen Marshall make some SPECTACULAR "how in the world did you catch that" catches since he's been in Miami...and I've seen him drop passes that even I could catch.

Secondly, Marshall came to Miami and was PAID for his services as an elite player. He showed in Denver that despite their crappy QB situation there he was an outstanding receiver and the same was expected of him in Miami. Now either you are an elite receiver and your head's just not in the game...in which case you're not an elite receiver, or you're a selfish greedy *** who got paid his money and don't have to worry about catching passes, in which you're not an elite receiver.

Bottom line...you are a PROFESSIONAL football player in the NFL who is paid not for excuses, but for results and when you have been called upon for results...and the ball has been placed in your hands and you drop it, you're not a professional...you're an amateur.

In my eyes, Marshall has quit mentally.

I am reading some of your replies and I think I made you misunderstand my post.

I was just giving a reason as to why Marshall is not out there performing 100%. You can complain about Marshall if you want to, but a lot of these WR's are divas with character issues. If they feel they are in a bad situation, especially a bad QB, they complain and complain, and mostly their field play suffers.

Nevertheless, talent wise, Brandon Marshall is a top WR in this league. As I said, Marshall has character issues (even BPD), so don't be shocked when he's not out there 100% focused and dropping balls. He quit mentally. He thinks Henne sucks as a QB. You want to preach about how Marshall is paid to play football, etc.. don't preach to electrolyte. I agree with you. I'm just explaining what I see.

P.S. someone up there said Denver had a crappy QB situation. Jay Cutler is much better QB than anything the Dolphins have had since Marino.

I wasn't lecturing you, I was mere averting my opinion and my opinion remains unwaivered. Character issues or otherwise, he is supposed to be a professional football player and regardless of the circumstances he finds himself in, he's not earning his paycheck.

And the caliber of the QB, as I stated earlier, is irrelevent when you drop easy passes that were right there in your hands. I hear you defending Marshall but what I don't hear from you is condemnation for an "elite" receiver in the league missing such EASY catches. If he was THAT elite, he wouldn't drop those.

Are we speaking of the same Jay Cutler who's ONLY winning season in the NFL came when he had a top 10 scoring defense behind him?

Bro, you act like such a hypocrite when it involves QB. What's your excuse for Mr First Round Cutler's first 51 NFL starts when his record was 24-27? Jay didn't break .500 until he had a 4th ranked Bears defense taking over games. Now that Chicago's defense is inconsistent, Jay's back to sub .500. Hey, but thanks for the good example though that reiterates the concept of TEAM play. :wink2:

I'm not saying Cutler's bad. Quite contrary; I think he's a good QB...... but like most good QBs, he needs to be allowed to play to his potential, and he can't do that by himself. He needs his team and coaching for that to happen, just as Henne, Ryan, Bradford, Alex Smith, Stafford, Aaron Rodgers etc also need it to happen.

Electrolyte, I would hope that you, and/or the forum do not take this as a personal attack, as it is NOT my intent.

However, your forum name seems like one of a vacuum cleaner, and on this thread, not others, SUCKS. You say that Marshall has quit mentally, and that he thinks Henne sucked. From what I've heard, they made amends, were talking together, and forgot about last year.

Regardless, if AJ Feeley. Garo, or Flipper, was throwing the passes, a top WR has to catch them for TD's. A case can be made for drops, as most all great WR's have them BUT, NOT when it come to TD's. JMO

To get back on topic, our acquisitions have not been all that good but, the picks have been. The idea of finding a play making gem in FA or trade has not worked for the vast majority of teams. Getting players other teams do not want has been a disaster, for the most part.

Yet, we overpay these guys and get little or nothing in return.
