I don't wanna talk about the Jets because they suck, but one player that always shows up is Revis.

I just can't understand why you guys won't admit how good he is. He's the best defensive player in the entire league, hands down. Nnamdi has been playing like **** the entire season. He's not even in the same class as Revis.

No one here has said Revis sucked.
He just isnt the best defensive player of all time.
Hell he isnt even the best DB of all time.

Not in the same class? Four games changes that? Really? Someone needs to buy you some knee pads since you're down there so much.

Seriously. Your way to obsessed with Revis, which causes you to overrate the sh!t out of him. He's elite, in my mind the second best, but he's not the best defensive player of all time. Not even close. He's not the best defensive player today either, but he's definitely up there.

Not to jock anyone, but I don't think 4 games changed anything. Revis is in a class of himself at CBs. I've seen guys have unbelievable seasons. Including Sam and Pat here. But they had seasons like that. Revis is consistantly like that. He is truely amazing CB.

He is an amazing DB but best defender of all time? Better than Lambert? Better than Youngblood? Better than Ed Reed and Ray Lewis? Better than Lawerence Taylor? The list goes on...

Uh no. There are CBs, much less other defenders, in my lifetime I would rather have, and I'm only 25. He's the best corner in the game and has been. But that's as far as that goes....

He is the best shut down corner in football today,as good as he is it's a team sport and he don't play QB.

I've said this before about Revis. Sure, QB's dont want to throw to him, but that really doesnt matter when your other DB's are getting burned. Revis doesn't change games for you guys. He doesn't create turnovers or points. He takes one guy out of the game. wow.

I want to see him cover welker this weekend.

I don;t know what you want at this point.

Even the biggest Jet haters such as myself put Revis as the #2 or #1 corner in the league. I have him at #1 as of now..

As for best defensive player....he is in the conversation. I still like Demarcus Ware.

Your contention of him being the best defensive player of all-time is ridiculous and does not merit discussion.

  11. Revis is a great player, he has shown that, but he has a long way to go to prove that he is the best DB ever. To say that he is now the greatest ever is just being a homer, give it some time before you give him that title. There are many previous and current players that are just incredible.

I agree with Section126, DeMarcus Ware is the best defender in the league. He is a game-changer. Sacks kill drives. Strip-sacks win games. A shutdown corner, no matter how good, just doesn't have the same impact as a stud pass-rusher. The QB can just avoid that side of the field. Yes, this strategy will hurt the offense, but it aint like a strip-sack.

Revis does not change games. Not like DeMarcus Ware or even Cameron Wake!

As for the greatest defensive player of all time, I'd put the following DBs CLEARLY ahead of Revis:

    Ed Reed
    Rod Woodson
    Deion Sanders
    Darrell Green
    Ronnie Lott
    Charles Woodson
    Nnamdi

And this is just a list of DBs that I've seen play with my own eyes.

Kind of hard to say he doesn't change games when he clearly does, even if he doesn't have a PBU or INT. He's better than Cameron Wake at his position. But I agree on Ware. That guy is damn good.

Tuck is up there as well. Doesn't have the great sack numbers but can do so much and quality at applying pressure.

I think Troy is up there as one of the best. Honestly, at times, I think he's better than Ed Reed.

    Ed Reed > Palomalu

Polamalu has big holes in his games when it comes to pure coverage. He can be caught out of position more than he should. Yes, he makes big plays, but he gives em up too. Not Ed Reed.

I don't think so personally. As quality as Polamalu is, he's not the same player Ed Reed is.

Just a note...the last 2 games in wich Revis covered them primarily??? Two 100yd games by Marshall and Welker.

He's still the best in the game but the lovefest needs to simmer down a tad. Heres to hoping Rivers takes notice and isnt afraid to throw to VJack.

He was the primary DB, i don't have a breakdown of yards vs coverage..but i do know when Revis has covered other big name Wrs he has gotten full credit for shutting them down even if he didnt line up across from them every snap. Gotta take the bitter with the sweet.

They keep stats on who was defending the receiver for each target. If you want to credit Revis with the 46 yards that Cromartie gave up to Marshall, have at it. Makes no sense to me.

He gave up 63 to Marshall. You guys wanna hear something interesting?

That shows you how good the guy is. There is no CB on the same planet as him.

This is not meant as a slight against Revis. He's still the best around. More of a tip of the cap to Brandon Marshall.

Revis clearly had issues matching up with Marshall Monday night. If Miami had a higher caliber trigger man out there, Marshall's stat line could have looked really nice.

We're terrible, and there's not much good for us to take from Monday night. But Marshall's ability to beat the Jet secondary (specifically Revis) was a small silver lining from a futures perspective.

It helps that he's so hyped up that officials don't bother calling pass interference against him. I mean it can't be pass interference if Darrelle 'God' Revis did it right?

To be fair, we'd be doing the same thing.

If Santonio Holmes caught a 50-yard TD on Jimmy Wilson, but was locked down by the rest of the secondary, we'd make the distinction. And why not?

Honestly, I didn't care if it was PI or Marshall lost his footing. I'm a guy that wishes the pass defense rules would roll back 20 years anyway.

No, what aggravated me was that Revis just stood there and the ball ended up coming to him. I'm like, "at least make him earn it!"

Honestly i try not to get to excited or nuthugg for the sake of nuthugging.....and honestly its not a "Jets Fan" issue its an ESPN issue aswell. The guy is very very good but people act as if he is flawless. He's human and if u dont belive me ask Ted Ginn.
