Now there is a name. He's tried the NFL before and flopped, but the situations he was in weren't the best. This guy has turned around two lower level college programs though, and his offense is the definition of wide open. It is the true run and shoot. I'd be interested in seeing a return of the run and shoot to the NFL. He'd have to get him a great defensive coordinator though.
I have absolutely zero interest in seeing Ross go after any college coach. There are plenty of big name former NFL head coaches I would prefer as the next head coach of the Dolphins. In fact I would even prefer an assistant head coach in the NFL over a college head coach. Ross seems to want to bring in a head coach which doesn't need, on the training, for the position. So I would have to think that he is going to make every effort he can to sign one of the former NFL coaches who are sitting on the sidelines this season. I don't think Stoops, Meyer, Miles, or any of the other top head coaches in college would be successful in the NFL. I think to be a success in the NFL, coaches need to have a solid background in the NFL. None of the top name coaching in college today have this background. Harbaugh played in the NFL for many years and knew what it takes to be a success at this level. That is why he has been able to turn the 49ers around so quickly. He is the rare exception of a college coach being able to lead a team at the professional level. I don't see anymore Harbaugh's in the NCAA right now.
He's still passing the same amount, he's just seeing more snaps for his offense per game so he is running more. What he's changed is the pass concepts. Doesn't use all the traditional RnS ones.
Ben Volin brought up a good point about Les Miles that I had forgotten about. He's a Michigan guy. One thing Ross is familiar with is UM football. Something to remember.
Jimbo Fisher FSU JImbo already turned FSU into a mini-NFL training camp complete with nutrition, psychology and off-season weight program. The various NFL scouts have already seen this up close and personal.
Hate to break it to you buddy, but most major college programs have been doing some form of this for some time. Nutrition is just now making it to the fromt but psych, and off season weight programs have been around for almost 20 years. Also, Jimbo deserves a shot because? I mean he has been a HC for what, 2 years now?
Neither of those guys would even entertain this job. They have established two of the winningest programs in the country. Why would they want this mess?
Why did Nick Saban? He left LSU to take over a team off a 4-12 season with cap problems and not many draft picks. I don't buy that argument. Also, Luck would make this a more attractive job.
If Daboll gets thrown out with the garbage, I'd really like for us to check out Paul Chryst as a potential OC candidate.
