Lost in all of frenzy associated with today's win was the solid blocking effort by Reagan Mauia, especially on Samkon Gado's TD run.

Yet another rookie making an impact.

great story this year. These types of unheralded players are key to have in the age of a salary cap

you have to wonder why Cam would put in Chatman or LoBo in to block on passing plays when Mauia can block. is he trying to outsmart the Defense? whats the point if they can't block and gets the QB killed? wouldnt you want a guy in that can block and gives us a chance to make get a completion?

Mauia's pass protection isnt great. He's really raw, you got to remember he was a DT not long ago. He gave up a sack earlier in the year.

to be honest im not a huge fan anymore. when i saw we drafted him i was really excited but he still isn't the lead blocker our run first team needs (it wasn't really run heavy today). hopefully we target schmitt, hillis or cox in this years draft

huh? He's a rookie and just had a monster block that sprung a touchdown. What were you expecting? Lorenzo Neal production after just 14 games?

ok, but is he a better blocker than Dive for the knees Chatman or Whiff LoBo? I think he is.

fellas, he is a rookie and has done a HELL of a job IMO . . . . not the easiest thing to do, but I am very excited to see him, Satele and possibly Esera . . . be staples on this Offense for years.

It's a shame Cam doesn't use him as much. He used Lorenzo Neal a lot with FB runs. And heck, we were getting killed by FB runs as well. And he can sure block. Not only that, he can catch too so I dunno why he's not out there on passing plays. But I like Mauia and not just because his name is like my name but with an extra a after the g.
