http://miamiherald.typepad.com/dolp...orning-im-told-the-dolphins-may-have-bee.html In Ross's mind, probably doesn't even think that meyer is an option, hence the conversation on the sideline.. If you were Ross, should you of been cognisant of the perception?, and the awareness to stay away from meyer in that situation? I'am sure some coaches have their opinions on owners on the sideline during games?, however, I believe this was the first time Ross has decided to do it, so this one time was probably due to the how the game transpired..On his way to the locker room, but got caught in a comeback ya know..
For all we know, Ross could have been asking Meyer on whether an on-the-field club would be a good idea or not.
The first thing i thought when i saw Ross standing next Meyer was how this was going to play in the media. I am not one of the guys here who blame Ross for this mess. But he cant seem to get out of his own way when it comes to PR. How does he not realize that standing there with an unemployed Urban Meyer on the sidelines talking (with his coach on the hot seat) is going to start a firestorm??? You just wish somebody would tell Ross to dissapear for the remainder of the season. Dont say anything, dont be seen on camera. Wait untill the season is over, then do what needs to be done.
Yeah Ross looked like a big fool talking to Meyer. The guy has no common sense when it comes to football. I knew somehow this would reflect bad toward the organization. It sure did piss me off
I don't see where the problem is here. Urban was a guest of the team's at this game because his 2008 Florida team was being honored. Whether Urban was there or not, his name was eventually going to come up. However, I've only seen Armando make a comment about it. Much to do about nothing at this point. However, why wouldn't you talk to Urban Meyer? The guy is a winner. Granted he doesn't have NFL experience, but right now with the way NFL coaches are, I'm not convinced that is such a bad thing. IMO, the best minds are in college right now. Urban is a grinder, and that is probably why his health isn't the best right now. That would be my concern with him. However, I think I'm ready to see someone try to bring a zone read base offense to the NFL. Will it work? Who knows. I do know this. Rob Chudzinski is utilizing Cam Newton's legs in his offense. Cam has run the ball 57 times in 7 games for 266 yards and 7 touchdowns. Chud is really using him well, as most of his passing is from 4+ wide sets with half field reads and mirror routes, and is using his legs in the speed option and zone read. While it isn't Urban's offense, they are dispelling the notion that I once bought into that you can't use the quarterback in the running game in the NFL. So, why not talk to him? Urban's passing offense is based off of Scott Linehan's passing offense, so there is no reason it shouldn't translate.
Meyer hiring means I'm out. I've put in 29 years, and that'd be the deal breaker. Just say no to anymore Gator influence.
have two myself.....oldest in Grad School....youngest year & 1/2 away from starting Med School! enjoy the ride!!!!
I don't see Ross having any interest in Meyer as the next HC of the Dolphins. First of all, I don't think Meyer would be an effective coach in the NFL. His offensive and defensive schemes are effective at the college level but I think he would have about as much success in the NFL as Spurrier and Saban did. Which was not very much success at all. If Meyer does decide to return to coaching, there will plenty of colleges willing to pay him top dollar to take over their program.
If you heard Cowher on Sunday's pregame show, Armando's column is plausible. Talking about 'Gator Day', Cowher said he'd be breathing fire in that locker room over it.
I understand what your saying, but thats not the point, the point is perception and should he have known better that it was gonna be spinned by the media, and might be perceived as a bad move by people in the nfl circles...
