Don't mind that scenario, but I'd rather take Kellen Moore in round 2 instead of Weeden. Weeden will be 28 or 29 by the time next season starts. Kellen Moore is being overlooked by everyone simply because he plays for Boise St.
Objectively speaking, with the current front office and coaching staff, that's just a practice in spinning your wheels.
Bingo!!. don't know why there is no fisy pump thingy for your post, but Iwould do it in a heart beat. You're one of the most cosistant posters I have seen on here that appears to be a true phin fan.
We win 3 games= We suck for the next 5 years We win 0 games= We have a really good shot at rebuilding and becoming an Elite team for years to come. Sorry if you think I am rooting for against us but what will a couple of wins get us? I am rooting for our future and if that means we lose a lot of games this year then so be it. If 1 bad year= 10 great years Ill take that chance
I know right........ the 2007 debacle served us well. You root for the team now because things don't always turn out like you plan. Parcells comes on board and instant SB remember.....
Or your line gets the qb killed and he winds up with happy feet like joey harrington, or A.J. feeley.
I root for the Dolphins to win week in and week out like I always have and always will, but I know the losses get us closer to that franchise QB we desperately need. I hate when we lose, I was in the stadium today and I was bummed we let another one slip away. It's actually a sigh of relief to be in a position where the result doesn't matter. Either we win and I'm happy, or we lose, and though I'm upset, I know we're closer to getting a franchise QB. With all that said though, for all those openly rooting against the team, I do agree with the OP..."Be careful what you wish for." Would I love Andrew Luck in a Dolphins uniform? Of course I would! But what if we don't get him? What if we're 1-15 and yet we still can't get him? I bet a lot of people would feel stupid applauding all those losses then. To be honest with you, unless we trade away a lot of future picks (which I would surely do), I don't think we'll get him. However, I do think we need to get a franchise QB in this draft whether it's pick 1 or pick 10. Trade up, do whatever you have to, just get a franchise QB. But people act like losing now is going to land us on a rainbow, yet no one knows what's going to happen.
Completely with you in this line of thinking. There is more value in getting the first pick than there is getting any other pick in the draft, even if there wasn't Andrew Luck. You play to win. But you play to win so that you can make the playoffs and try to get to the super bowl. Our chances of making the playoffs are basically zero. So once you know you won't make the playoffs there is nothing left to play for but pride. Though at this point, what Dolphins fan has pride in being consistently mediocre to bad? I'd much rather take my chance at getting the best player in the draft rather than hanging on to a small piece of pride that goes with being slightly better than the worse team in the league.
I make no apologies for rooting for us to get the top pick. I thought going into the season we had a legit chance to get a wild card, and I was crushed by the losses to the Patriots and the Texans. After the loss to the Browns, it became evident that this team was going nowhere fast. So what are we rooting for at that point? A 7-9 season? And then what? It's like being a 40-win team in the NBA. It's a ticket to nowhere. There are only three places you want to be: 1) at the top, 2) headed in that direction, or 3) at the bottom. The only one of those places we had a chance of being through the first quarter of the season was the latter. We have a chance to get the best QB prospect in a decade. After all the quarterbacks I've had to endure since Marino retired, I don't give a **** what anyone says. I want to watch another great QB wear a Miami uniform in my lifetime.
I'm old school, I root for them to win every game. And I worry about the damn draft after the season.....
You have fun with that. In the end, you'll get the same thing this franchise has been spoon feeding you for the last decade. Mediocrity. Pointless wins. Playoff-less seasons. Might sound fun to you, sure don't to me.
That tends to happen when you have idiots running the team that draft LT's over QB's. The next Left Tackle to lead his team to a Superbowl will be the first.
I think watching this team is like watching the big Lebowski's car getting thoroughly detroyed throughout the movie...and the Colts are Autobahn. We wants the Luck, Lebowski...Yah, we f**ks you up, Lebowski.
Sadly, that is how I feel. I never pull for the Dolphins to lose, but when they do...it doesn't hurt like it used to. I still hope that someone will take this team back to the top like when we were one of the elite teams of the NFL, (Shula years.)
they are not tanking on purpose though. they just have the least amount of talent in the NFL. We are losing despite our talent.
The dolphins are a pathetic train wreck and 0-7 and you are worried about dolphin fans? making posts blasting dolphin fans? fix your priorities and misplaced frustration.
I just don't understand why everyone thinks if we draft Luck that our fortunes will change Phins need a culture change in Miami!! I have watched the Jets be very successful for the last 3 years without a Franchise QB and please don't tell me Sanchez is a franchise QB, but the team has taken on their coaches attitude and they believe they can win. I know I would take 2 AFC championship appearance in a heartbeat. I just want to have a chance every year. I'm a Phins fan that lives in the ATL and I have watched the QB a lot of Phins fans say we should have drafted in Ryan...OK let's say we did draft him instead of Long as #1..After 3 years later can anyone say that Matt Ryan is a Superbowl calibar QB?? He has all the weapons in the world and some Falcons fans are still calling him a bust and MR Check down. I would love a Franchise QB but what I want more is a full culture overhaul!!
I think the front office and coach has more to do with a culture change than just a so called franchise QB. All the teams with a Franchise QB also have a good front office.
You missed my point.Even if he is great he is only one person, this is a team game.Just remember when Steve Young played for Tampa when they were bad,he didn't look the same as when he was with San Fran
Oh wow! I guess we were missing the point all along! It's so true. Once we draft Andrew Luck, the Dolphins have to forfeit all remaining draft picks for the next 15 years, and will be stripped of their rights to sign free agents. So guys, it's not a good idea to draft Luck. He's just one guy and we won't be able to win with just him.
Yeah, that Colts front office is so amazing. They lose their starting QB and now can't win a single game. Polian did such a great job at filling that team with talent. Polian was also amazing in his ability to prepare the Colts for the season when it was clear Manning would miss time. They waited for a whole month AFTER the lockout ended to bring in a QB, which turned out to be paying 4 million to a 38 year old Kerry Collins, who is now on IR. They are now starting their 7th round pick from 2009 Curtis Painter. They believed in Painter so much, that they decided to bench him in favor of Collins, a guy who had been with the team a total of 17 days. Yup. You are so right. Forget these so called franchise QB's.
They sure looked like geniuses the last 10 years. They made a mistake with not having a decent back up , but the other 21 players are the same ones that won more than 10 games..That has nothing to do with QB or the front office..That's on the coach.
I don't recall blasting anyone. I actually have no problem with anyone who outright says they want to Suck for Luck, and then states their reasons. As for priorities, I want a great GM and coach, because I don't want another franchise QB, only to get to one Super Bowl, and then never sniff anotherone again, been there done that. I also know that if we get Luck it doesn't happen in a vacuum. That's why the personnel guru we get is going to have his work cut out to surround him with what he needs to succeed.
I know! So called franchise QB's like Manning should never be given the credit for their success the last 10 years! It was all Polian! I am totally with you.
When was the last time you saw a QB line up against 11 guys all alone?? This is a team sport, And 99% of the team is still there.
No, the front offices look good because they properly addressed the QB position. A franchise QB hides a lot of weaknesses. Just look at the Colts.
That could be the case...but it also might not be the case. Look at the Patriots of 2008. Matt Cassel did a good job.
Oh jeez. I think you are a terrible fan if you DON'T want this team to draft Andrew Luck. Only way you can draft him is by...............
