Why does there have to be such extremes? We're all die hard fans here. I haven't missed a game since 1998 and that's because my family was in the moving process and our DirecTV wasn't set up.

We're all in the same boat though. I want a new coaching staff, and more importantly, a franchise Quarterback. I see more than one way of getting that though. Andrew Luck is the unquestioned leader of the pack, but there are other guys coming out that could be our franchise QB.

People have this assumption that if we win more than 1 game, we can't get to where we need to be. That's absurd IMO. There's more than one way to acquire the pieces to get us back to the Promised Land. Though at this point the losses do help in a way, I'm not going to stop rooting for the Dolphins to win. In the end, we can get what we need this offseason one way or another. Besides, nothing is guaranteed either way. We're all going to hope for the best regardless.

and thats fine. If you want to root for the phins to win each week that is your right as a fan and i wouldnt tell you to do otherwise. However it was the "superfans" who started with the caustic and vitriolic rhetoric. They couldnt stand that other fans had different visions for the teams future and they called the SFLers bad fans, idiots, bandwagoners among other harsh names. So of course the SFLers are going to defend themselves and retaliate. If the "superfans" didnt attack the SFLers to begin with, i doubt the war of words would of escalated to near what it is now

    Exactly.

It's the behavior by the self-righteous fans that has causes this problem.

Still insulting the S4Lers? That's practically 99.99999999999999999% of the fanbase.

Bravo! Let me add, if you don't mind...

QUOTE - "The great oil billionaire, H. L. Hunt, was once asked his secret of success. He replied that success required two things, and two things only. First, he said, you must know exactly what it is you want. Most people never make this decision. Second, he said, you must determine the price that you will have to pay to achieve it, and then get busy paying that price. But maybe you think that he was just lucky? "

Luckily, I think the Pats will still be competing...Plus, they love it when the backups win the game anyway.

Why aren't people saying the same about Jax, Ten and Houston in Indy's last 3 games?

I meant in general. You hear people talk about the jets, bills and pats bending over for us to avoid luck. If there is a chance they "rest starters" there is a good chance indy's final 3 opponents will too. I severely doubt they would want to see the colts dominate them for another 13 years.

Then again, it might just be that I hang out on here....

-I don't really believe any team would actually tank a game like that. Even if it is smart.

I think there is a bit of subconscious extra hate for miami teams because of the Heat and the whole lebron bringing his talents to southbeach.

Because any member can click on whatever thread they want?

I won't tell anyone how to root for their team but I will say im not ok with it. I could give a damn what kind of fan anyone thinks they are either. Its not about that to me.

I happen to think all of you are going to jinx this team further.

**** the rest of the country! I live in Florida, when I go on vacation, I don't need to go far. What do I give a **** about what they think about my favorite teams, or anything about Florida. ESPN and the rest of them son's a ******* can all die in a fire.

I honestly do hope that teams would be willing to tank meaningless games to keep Luck off a team because Indy's division has that in spades. Miami doesn't have that problem. 3 of 4 teams in our division very well could be playing for a playoff spot late in the year. Buffalo, NY, and NE will all be thinking about winning and getting in the playoffs. Tanking a game against Miami will be so far from their minds if they are in any type of shape to get into the playoffs, IMO. Playing in a lousy division helps lower the Colt's SOS but it sure as heck may hurt them here.

It's certainly correct in my case........

the other day, I had to re-watch the 2009 MNF Jets @ Dolphins.....that was the last time I remember really enjoying my Dolphins....... that game where Ginn beat Revis on a TD bomb and we ran the wildcat down their throats and Ronnie Brown ran in the TD with like 10 seconds left in the game on another wildcat play.

that was fun. it's been hell otherwise. i never bought into the kool aid people want to sell us (south florida media, homer fans) that overrated us every off-season. it's time for a change.

Yep, all started with the Canes. It also didn't help that Miami became known as North Colombia during the Cocaine Cowboys days. Those two things helped develop a bad image of the city that carried over to it's sports teams. Then you mix that with how nauseated people became over the boasting of 'The Perfect Season' and it's enough to make most people hate you. And that's not even taking the Heat into account, who, for all intents and purposes, may have become the most hated team in the history of sports last season.

I guess what I'm saying is, Andrew Luck is a REALLY good QB.

You make a good point. I wasn't old enough to start really appreciating Dolphin football until 1989 so I'm grateful for the fact that I got to experience so many great seasons of Don Shula and Dan Marino.

Yeah.......the funny thing is that some of my fondest dolphin memories that resulted in wins were followed by some of my worst the very next week. In 84 Marino an Co. dropped 45 points on the steelers in the AFC championship game. The next game was not so good.

One of my favorite games, and seldom mentioned, was when we played the Browns in the playoffs the next year. We were down 21-3 in the third after Byner scored on a long TD run. Marino led us back and we wound up winning with a couple of tds by Ron Davenport(he was actually money inside the 5 lol). The next game was one of the biggest heartbreakers when we were heavily favored against the Pats and laid an egg which prevented us from playing the bears in the super bowl.

Oh Chuck Studley you still haunt my dreams Sigh

My points are that you've hardly even watched Dolphins football, and that WE, as fans, don't DESERVE better by wishing this team sucks to get a certain player. We stick by our team thru thick and thin, and for you to suggest that people could not have watched every game just because they are not sucking for luck is dead wrong.

Try being a Bils fan thru the 60's, 70's and 80's. A lifelong Lions fan and the list goes on. Fans of so many teams have sucked for far longer than any Dolphins team. Sorry you came along a little late but thats the breaks.

I'm not going to say I feel sorry for anyone, let alone a 24 year old, when I'm in the seventh decade of my life, so let's just say it's unfortunate not to have experienced the glorious early 70's. While I really hate the way this team has been run into the ground lately, at least I had those years to remember. On the other hand, I'm hoping for one more Super Bowl win before riding off into the sunset. The chances are middlin at best. You on the other hand, likely have 50 years or more for the chance to experience a return of this team to that high level. It's pretty likely they'll make it at some point.

i fail to see the difference. the team is going to win or lose games on their own merit. nobody on SFL is bailing on their team. they are actually committing to it even more.

Now I can understand a fan such as yourself not being on board the SFL campaign. I'm not trying to insult your age, or depress you in any way, but to someone of your age, each season of Dolphins football means more than it does to the younger folks. Suddenly "wait till next year" isn't as sure a bet as it once was. I'm really hoping you get your wish. I think Andrew Luck is our best bet.

Yeah I don't understand how this is considered not 'sticking by your team' or whatever. Not sticking by the team would be me throwing all of my Dolphins gear out and telling everybody that I'm a Ravens fan. You know.. the top tier NFL team that plays 15 minutes from my house. I'm not superstitious so the idea that they're stinking because I thought they would or decided it would be in their best interest to stink is beyond ridiculous to me. They stink because Sparano stinks, Ireland stinks, and most of the players also stink. Even the good players aren't playing well.

It's a silly debate, anyway. You can't bail on a professional sports franchise any more than you can bail on a tree. Being a fan doesn't constitute a relationship; it constitutes a unilateral affection. Root for your team, root against your team, cheer, cry, scream or be indifferent, it's all fair game because everyone is in this thing for just one selfish reason: It makes them feel better. You can certainly swear your unflinching loyalty to a rubber doll, but at the end of the day, you're still masturbating.

I'm not really for or against SFL. Like most of us I really have mixed feelings. It was so weird last couple of weeks, wanting the team to do well but inside being horrified that they might be giving away the chance to get a franchise guy like Luck. I know this. My rooting for the Dolphins to win (or lose) is not going to make an iota of difference whether they do in fact win or lose, so I'm inclined to cheer. I'll be going to my yearly game (the Skins) soon and I can tell you I'll be cheering for them (maybe not too loudl).

I'm also beginning to get the impression that there are two or three QB's who aren't that inferior to Luck, and even if we win a game or two, we'll be able to draft a franchise quality QB. However, the thought of the Colts getting Luck does give me a bit of a sick feeling.

So those who refuse to root for their team to lose are less committed? I don't think so.

IMO, you dont root for your team to lose thru an entire season just so they can get an uproven NFL talent? You do not watch football for a short period of time and act like "You", as a fan, deserve better.

He said that suck for luck sucks and then went on a rant about how, if anyone believes their team is sucking on purpose, they're out of their minds.

He seemed to be a father who expects to have an influence on his sons career. BUT that part is my own personal opinion.

I've spoken with quite a couple of people who dealt/worked with Oliver Luck over here when he was at the NFL Europe and the consensus is that he's going to be the one making the calls, not his son. The consensus also is that Oliver Luck isn't an easy man to please. Or like.

Oliver Luck doesn't really understand what fans are doing.

Nobody is asking the players to tank and ruin their careers.

We are just hoping and cheering for them to lose.
